  1. LOL Mark, you are right about it being the postcard with the tower in it. And this tower happened to stand for a long time at our own Playland park. Unfortunately I have no idea if that's an Intamin tower or not. The back of the postcard says nothing about the designer or builder of it. But the tower was built and maintained during the 1970s and came down during the early 80's. The back of the postcard. And the information about it. Here it is, with our great roller coaster waaay in the background there. And pardon the 'look' of the Tower Hostess there. Our friends have strange ways of killing time in the bathroom, lol.
  2. Happy Birthday Mark's Postcard Paradise! And with that, I would like to spotlight a few old (really old, you'll see) postcards which I had hidden deep within what could only be termed affectionately as ... "The Wall." And The Wall is basically one wall of our downstairs bathroom, that slowly got covered postcards of every type, size, location, theme...you get the idea. Well, we decided to redo the bathroom, and all of the walls within the room came down including The Wall, so photos were taken of it, and the postcards I wanted to scan and share with you all, I held on to. Now I will first post a couple of photos of the wall itself. Then put up a section that has the postcard(s) to be featured. And then the card or cards themself. And please pardon the 'condition' of some (if not all) of the cards as they were in a bathroom, opposite a shower, hmm? Here's looking to another postcard-filled year, Mark! (And the featured postcard will be revealed....soon.) And today's only featured postcard is .... and it's not the one you think. Another view of The Wall, a bit closer to part of it. Here's a look at "how it looked" when you came into the downstairs bathroom...
  3. ^ Don't worry, even over here at the Canadian IKEAS, they list their items with the same hard-to-&%^##&!@~ read Swedish names from their original catalogue of..... stuff, lol. Sometimes wierd to read - but awesome to buy and put together, most of the time, LOL.
  4. A hanging outdoor green plant, called a Lipstick plant. $12.50 plus taxes.
  5. Well, it's a movie musical, lol. And I think the original intent was to post stuff about favorite stage musicals. But a lot of people have posted favorite movie musicals like yourself...and.... And I loved that movie! Peed myself silly, the first time I saw it on the big screen. I just cried and laughed at it all. Much fun. And Kenny finally got his wings. And big-boobed angels, heh heh. And who knew that "Blame Canada" would be nominated for a Best Original Song Academy Award and have it performed by Robin Williams and a chorus line of strutting long legged..... Mounties (?) at that year's televised Oscars? Yes it counts, to answer your question, LOL.
  6. Wow. Neat to find out I have actually been to (now) two of the Top Ten Listed: Bon Bon Land (in the recent TPR Scandi Tour in June) and Harmony Land (TPR Japan Tour, 2007). Is that a "Hellooooooo Kitty" I hear? Naw, probably just a dog farting, somewhere...
  7. We have two IKEAS in the suburbs here (I feel soooo jaded about that), but we only go to them if we really need something that we know will cost us a better price at IKEA. And we have stuff in our home from IKEA, too. It's usually easy to put together, better priced than most furniture places, and some of the display areas are just breathtaking to wander through and enjoy. But - for this one - I only picked up their measuring tape, one of the Swedish-written forms... and the all-important IKEA Pencil! It was a fun visit, especially for those who had never been to an IKEA at all.
  8. Looks very nice. Hope it rides as good as it looks. And thankyou for the media report, Chuck. Such an intrepid reporter, you are! (Intrepid?)
  9. burp. Still...... uh..... congratulations on his..... success?
  10. ^6 Awww.... shucks. and ^^ Congratulations!
  11. Great ongoing report Mike. And especially cool on Cowabunga Bay Water Park that Shane owns and runs. But.... Holy crap Shane! How much weight have you lost??? I didn't recognize you there beside Mike at first. You look great, but it was still a small shock (bzzzt) seeing you a bit.... slimmer?
  12. Great trip report! The photos with you and all the big cats (and the little ones, lol) was great. But how is it that they're so "tame" to allow gp near them, without them suddenly "going wild" and/or taking a swipe or a chomp out of an unsuspecting tourist..... like yourself? Thanks for sharing, with all the great photos.
  13. "Any Way You Want It / I Wanna Rock" (Reprise) from the 2009 Broadway cast recording of Rock of Ages
  14. The hotel. The food at the hotel! The Mini TPRix. Power Park. Booster! That was a really great part of the tour. The timing was perfect for everything, including a great non-sunset we could see from our prix track view balcony window. Great part of the trip. Sorry you didn't like Booster, Chuck. I loved it and rode it 5 times! I think it helped that this was a slightly smaller version than the biggie that's here, at Playland (Revelation). And that it was included in the park's admission (ours is an UpCharge) made it a must-ride for myself. And, I really enjoyed it, LOL! Excellent play-by-play of this near-end of the tour, Chuck. Looking forward to more, right up to the.......... ........Finnish.
  15. Here's a question to you guys who have seen the new Harry Potter movie. There is a PINBALL MACHINE in the the Weasley's (sp?) smaller little woodshack, that Papa takes 'son' Rupert Grint to have a talk with - it's behind them in a few shots of this scene they share together. So - anybody know what kind/type/make it is?
  16. ^ Do you have the CD of most of the Broadway Starmites cast (minus Sharon McKnight, darnit)? I think it still might be available at Amazon.com where I picked it up, a few years back. And - just got two new (to me) show cast CDs and they both sound great. "Sister Act" is definitely The Musical (besides "Priscilla..") I may hope to see next year in London's West End, and although "9 to 5" is leaving Broadway in September, it sounds good enough to find future productions done, in other regional theater seasons. Going Bye Bye in September, sadly. But Ms.Parton should be proud of what she and the prouduction did with it all. It's gotten ectstatic reviews from all the London critics. And the audiences apprently love it, too!
  17. ^ Personally, I would like to add Kirnu "the other gentler kinder Insane" at Linnanmaki park in Helsinki. That one was great, easier on the bones, and I rode it five or six times the day we spent there. and heard leathered bikers scream like little girls on one of the more memorable trips on it, heh. A "Family Friendly Insane", lol.
  18. I hate this 'thing' I put myself through, when there is more than enough time to do nothing - and then, not enough time to do everything! Grrr.
  19. I agree with the above quote, Chuck. Great TR as usual. I am 'almost' hesitant to post my own TR, eventually. But - I will, you know that, heh - and where do we sign up for ongoing annual TPR Scandi Tours???
  20. Kirnu = penis. Done.
  21. Till you've ridden Coaster - you have no idea. And I rode SD coaster back then on a CW visit. Was fine. But Coaster is whole other animal, lol. And it's lasted for more than 50 years before ACE finally decided to annoint it etc. etc. (EDIT to tell Jeff..... Pfffffffttttt!)
  22. ^ The annual fair, the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) adds several flats to the Playland mix and then ups the one-day pass, and doesn't allow the seasons pass. The lineups during The Fair are long long long, and not worth waiting in, for my $. I only go to the PNE for a day, just to stroll around, see what You-can't-live-without Gadgets are being sold, and what's being eaten that year (smile) and "briefly" walk through the rides section, if only to see what they brought in for the fair. And so far, every year I've been going, nothing has intrigued me enough to either get the Fair's day-pass or at least single tix for that particular ride. And the Coaster line is much MUCH less so during non-PNE times. Especially on week days in July and early August. Can't beat those non-lines, heh. Hope that helps. http://www.pne.bc.ca/ for more information.
  23. ^ They dismantled Wild Mouse in November, last year. Booo. It was rickety and totally freaked-out to ride, but worth it, IMhO. The Coaster has been featured in several films and tv-movies. Unfortunately, I don't remember any titles of them, LOL. Some commercials, too. And Corkscrew got it's (ahem) Fame from the being in "Final Destination: 3", although as you can see from my over head shot, the "station" created for the movie was nothing like the open-air loading station that actually exists for it. All "movie magic", lol.
  24. ^ Dunno. Am still used to using it, and have done so for all the TPR Tours I've been on. Call me stubborn, HAH! Eventually, and when they finally stop making film for my type of camera, that's when I'll switch, heh. But for now, I'm fine with what I snap, and the memories that 'appear' from the envelope a few weeks' later is still cool to me. Digital....eventually. ^^ Didn't know that, H_W_F. So they took it away then, the landmark status when the seatbelts were added? Sad. ^^^ Oh you know me Larry, worry worry worry. And now, the rest of it all. And - The Bear showed up! Have no idea of it's name. But he's ours, LOL! The Honeybee Express children's train ride. With "enclosed thmeing" again. Our Scooters "building". Too many cars in it, and definitely needs Major Maintenace on most of them. Our Break Dance. Fairly tame IMhO. And most of the main park, with Coaster in back there. The Corkscrew. What replaced the now extinct scary old Wild Mouse - boooooo! But it gives a view of... And yeah - it's another upcharge ride. Funny thing, the "Hourly Special" board has been up since the park opened in spring, lol. A more "fuller view" of Revelation. Finally got to ride and compare this with Booster in Power Park-Finland. And - it rocked! Revelation with the Corkscrew.
