Photo TR: Playland - Vancouver, Canada - July 2009

More of the park, continuing through it. Stuff to read. And then there - waaaaay at the bottom of it all - $5 upcharge entrance. But I did go in it, during our Gay Day at the park, with friends. And it was really good, worth the upcharge, I felt. With three actors sweating it out inside, heh. Better view of the entrance. The building used to originally be a cheesy and fun Laff-In-The-Dark ride years and years ago. New Attraction! The walk-thru Haunted Mansion! (o: And the Corkscrew in back. One of the main eating establishments here - with (dare I call it) All-You-Can-Eat... Salad Shrubbery? King Arthur & The Holy Grail group would love this one, lol. The Baywatch-sponsored (?) Crazy beach Party. And more famous Playland fencing. Can't get enough of that. Another Kettle Creek shot, with one of Playland's famous themed trash cans in view as well. And potted "landscaping" behind the can. Another Mine Coaster view - as best as I can take it, all "themeing" considered. Building to right is On-Ride Photo place. Most of any "themeing" of any rides here, including this one, are contained within metal fencing. Classy, huh? For the kids and parents - The Kettle Creek Mine Coaster! With the Crazy Beach Party and Coaster beyond. The main Playland Merchandise Store, with Guest Services in the background to the right, there/ -
During the Scandi Tour, I promised Larry to get myself back to PLAYLAND, my home park, and snap a roll or two of film (yes, I still take photos with old fashioned film-in-a-camers!), aso he could have some much-needed coaster and flats pix for the TPR Coaster/Rides Index. So, spent a few days taking photos of the park, which is pretty easy to do, considering there's no landscaping to it, no real shape, except one big rectangular parking-lot type setup. But - with one of The Best Wooden Roller Coasters In The World... Coaster! Hope this helps, Larry. New this year - official recognition from ACE as a true Coaster Landmark! First one recognized outside the USA, I believe? (o: A front shot of Coaster, and the 50th Anniversary banners, still up from last year. What I consider IMhO, the most sexy hill on Coaster. After the second drop on Coaster. A nice shot of the first drop turn around and the second turn around "fan turn." But once in awhile you can get a fairly decent shot of it. And Revelation in the background. Fence is too high to get any good outside shots of corkscrew, as "seen" here. Here's three attractions in one shot! L-to-R: Revelation, Corkscrew Coaster, and Drop Zone. Thought I would walk outside of the Playland property and see what I could snap. You can get pretty close to Coaster, here. The Main Entrance to Playland. But first, before I go in with my season's pass... Entrance at the other end of the property where Playland sits - and whats this? A new attraction? Later on that...

BUMP! Less than an hour and a half to get your final vote in for this Ultimate Poll. (hah) Looks like Bluey could be The Winnah, butcha never know with mass all-of-a-sudden vote-ins, hmmm? And Alien Baby could winningly spew all over the blue guy, yes? Tick, tick, tick, tick... And thanks to everybody who put their vote and their comments in, to this poll thread. I enjoyed it all from you guys. -
^ LOL. That explaination works for me, Ben.

Most photos of Disney Sea at night are really great, but these ones are very nice indeed. Especially that sequence with Mount Prometheus "blowing up" heh heh. And that afterwhiff of smoke caught was cool, too. Thanks for sharing them. Really cool shots. All of them. I miss Disney Sea.

Shameless BUMP, because there are less than two days, to find out who the true Winning Barfing Stuffie shall be! Funny thing happened in today's local paper, too. Two articles about my home park, Playland. One about the "terrific and thrilling rides" that await one at "Western Canada's Largest Amusement Centre" (sic) and... An article on how the Barfing Stuffies ad campaign for the park came to be! Last chance to vote! And I'll try to find and post the link to the article about them all. And remember - the Winner gets - Absolutely - Nothing! EDIT - found the article in the Vancouver Sun... http://www.vancouversun.com/Playland+about+barfing/1828193/story.html -
But my gawd... It's how many months away from now? It over-begins.

We have a SkyCoaster here at Playland that offers an "hourly deal" (which has been continuously displayed every day since the season began, lol) of 2 for $22 Cdn which works out to $11 each which isn't too bad I guess. But of course you end up paying more (almost the entire amount for two) if you ride solo. And I don't think I will do that. Better to ride and scream like a banchee with other people you know, hmm? More fun, too. And yes, I think it's worth at least one try, if you've never ridden it before. Here's ours with the corkscrew in back and the "Revalation" to the left of it.

^ Thought of that, but still went with my OMG gut reaction LOL.

omg It was priceless. I couldn't stop giggling with every other sworn phrase the H said. Bravo to whoever wrote this up and editted it all together. Disney "may" have a problem with this particular unabashed loyalty, though, lol. -

Why yes! Yes it is, lol. -
No he hasn't! It's all a lie! I've ridden more coasters than Robb has! That was quite the noticeable little gaff in there I must admit. But glad to see TPR is getting the local media noticing all the crazy people riding coasters.

I stay with #3. I mean they literally around that pole, hmmm? Gotta give me credit for trying, hmm? Please?

Got my copy today, and am now listening to the brand-new CD recording of the Broadway Cast of Rock of Ages... I love it! Did anybody see this show, and how was it? CD comes off as nasty and loud, lol. Which is a great thing! First half of it sounds great.
