I am happy we aren't freezing our butts over here, right now.

^ Indifferent, really. I rarely shopped there, or Walmart for that matter. But the Big Deal they made about (originally) being the Next Big Thing in Canada... Didn't work out for them two years on. Now we're left with huge box-shops. And there's nobody out there (like Target) to take them all over, which is a pain. But - I never thought they'd succeed wildly. So fine. They're moving out. I'm happy.

Do parks like us?
Nrthwnd replied to tarheel1231's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually I would love my home park to like us enough, that it would actually Stay Open LATE during a few summer weekends, before and/or after the annual fair happens. The night lights are cool during the PNE, but crowded beyond belief. During it's regular season, and not The Haunt, that's already happening. That would make me love Playland even more. And if there's a financial reason why not, hey that's cool. -

Game: When was the last time you...

Back in late August, at our annual fair, The PNE. They have a whole livestock section with barns and places for them critters! When was the last time, you went to the dentist? -
^ And "How to Train Your Dragon 2" just won the Golden Globe for Best Animated? No hate on the movie....but really???

We just saw "Into The Woods," yesterday. Surprised it didn't get at least a Best Picture nom today, besides what it did get (Go Meryl!). And having seen the original on Broadway back in 1988, I was really surprised how well they stuck to a lot of the piece, and the amazing editing (also a snub) to put it all together. And the deaths were still handled "offstage" as it was, back then. I didn't think the dark last part, was as un-liked by me as a lot of previous posters, have said. But that's Sondheim. And Fairy Tales. Original Fairy Tales. And considering a lot of these tales have been grossly "vanilla-ed" up, for a less ready-to-handle-it crowd of kids --- whoever that was. I did agree, that Rapunzel suddenly bolting out of the "After" scene and out of the movie was kind of a wtf. The reprise of "Agony" would have been nice, too but that takes an adult twist the kids might have to be explained to. Or not. All in all, the soundtrack was gorgeous! Streep can sing nice and tender, Blunt and Kendrick were a great surprise, the Princes were the best of the guys, and it really really looked like to me, like an onstage production how long shots took in woods paths weaving in different directions, I liked seeing that, from time to time. So 8.5 out of 10 for me. And I plan to get the dvd of it, too..

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Recent photos on Playland's FACEBOOK page, show the foundation for The Beast, poured and set. AND - reminder it's a only a few more days till the Season Pass offer ends (save $20). Second poured foundation in the park's recent history. Before this, AtmosFEAR had it's foundation made in the ground, too. So moving these around in the future, will be tough. But they won't look like total midway rides, ready to (still) pick up and move, either. And Music Express is being moved so that Crazy Beach party can move there! And the scrambler is still missing! Confused? We all find out what's where, in May. (o; And as it is posted on the park's Blog: "Special delivery all the way from Germany. We’ll be busy getting this installed on Crazy Beach Party once it’s settled in its new home in Playland." -

False. The list is endless.... The person below me has never been to a football game.

This park still sounds/reads to me like a nice 'alternative theme park' that is way more relaxing than those in the Anaheim area and beyond. Definitely the landscaping always attracted me to this park. Still does. One of these years... (Hmmm. Maybe in conjunction with a West Coast Bash visit one year.)

Launched El-Loco
Nrthwnd replied to coastercoaster5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
An El Loco does not need this. It's impractical for what the original design coaster is and does. And all that time that it takes to do one cycle, this way? Riiight. Would have to be two cars, linked together. But if not... Please. Unless the park is hardly visited at all...or ever. This "might" be good. Otherwise - buy the original El Loco instead. There's not enough of them anyway.
