Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread

^ Ah, I thought (after posting) that it was all for one of the other concerts they advertise and run there, in non-PNE time, heh. And yeah, I will be pleasantly happy IF everything is running by the time they operate "daily" with the park - starting Friday, June 14th. I still think a lot of the down time for some flats, is due to there just not being enough staff to run everything. Most teens/young adults I know, are still in school a bit longer, here. And not really out of school until the end of June. So that's possible with one or two of the flats. They just need more ride ops, that's all. Retro Playland - we used to have a Gyro Tower at the front of the park. Great scenic views, all round. And a sky ride which ran behind it, from Playland to the other side of the PNE grounds. WoW! Awesome video, and soundtrack, especially the overhead shots of it running. -
From my Retro Collection.... And as a tip of the sword to Game of Thrones' recent...ending.....I have this photo to share. Taken at the 2014 Pacific National Exhibition (our PNE), from a traveling exhibit of the GoT, between Seasons 2 and 3. It was a traveling exhibit that we got For FREE, entering The Fair. Other cities that the exhibit visited, did not get in for free. Hah! That said, they had a "wannabe" Iron Throne there, so naturally I had my own "pose" in mind...

^ Still, it's nice to be a part of an actual historic change in policy for the original park. Disney Park fans will definitely note that. But if the queuing etc for even having one cocktail in the the Cantina is too much...you are right, there are plenty of other options just across the plaza and in the Disney Village, and even in the Disneyland Hotel (Trader Sam's!*). *Which I hope we'll be visiting, when we're there, in September, the week after Labor Day weekend/week. p.s. FYI, you have Disneyland Paris Resort to thank (from what I've known since 1992), for allowing both alcohol into all the Magic Kingdoms (and everywhere else), and male cast members allowing facial hair to be 'worn', whatever the heck that meant., lol. But now you see male cast members everywhere in the Disney Parks World with moustaches and/or beards etc. in all the parks. It's a nice change. And the booze, too. Myself and David in the (then named) Blue Lagoon Restaurant, Disneyland Paris, saluting their allowance of cocktails (which we got later on) ..... with our water glasses ~ Sept.2002.

^ Although I really don't have any plans for any future visit to Russia I'm glad that a celebrated coaster like this one, has found a new home. -

...And eat at MELT. And ride the skyride. And ride Cedar Downs. -
^ Except in the Cantina, there's hardly any seating at all in there. From what I've seen in video tours of it. Mostly stand up. So texting a reservation to stand in a bar? Well ok, if that's what you want to do. And when Resistance finally opens, that should (maybe?) change the queuing times for other stuff like Cantina. Then again, Peter Pan is still pop-u-lar, with big queues, after all these years.

I do so want to do a Scott's Pizza Tour, in New York City! As well as several Broadway shows, past and present, musicals AND plays.
-
Just announced. https://www.broadwayrecords.com/ is again releasing a compilation of all (true!) of the musicals from this past Broadway Season ('18-'19). Including two songs on one track, honoring Marin Mazzie, a wonderful musicals actress, who passed away last Sept.from cancer. She is also being honored with a posthumous TONY Award, on Sunday, June 9th's Tony Awards (on CBS, check local times). ~ And, a special four song set cd featuring Laura Benanti who is currently starring in My Fair Lady (which will be closing July 7th). *Both cds are to be released mid-June. Starting with Head Over Heels, and ending with Beetlejuice. Love her loverly voice. (o;

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread

And on The Very Next Day... Such a difference in crowds! Almost half of how many were there yesterday. Coaster was "almost" a walk on, and I ended up being the Single Rider (with no queue for it) filling a seat on three rides, that they needed for their Minimum Riders requirement (it's 12 out of 16 riders). The other two rides (I rode 5 times today) were spent longer in the queue, but that was just fine. Compared to my two rides yesterday, this was eeeee-zy. I tried the capsule machine again with no prize return. So I told one of the games people about it, they told me to head up to Customer Services. I did so, told them, they made a note of it being broken, and I got my $2 back (included the dollar I lost yesterday). And thanked me, for letting them know. Such nice people. So here's two day's worth of photos. Enjoy. And the *&*^#@!&*+ Sea-To-Sky Swinger was still down, as well as those other three flats. Hmmph. A very busy Coaster queue, yesterday. Prizes in the Quarters Arcade. Ice Ball tickets I'm going to get counted and save. La Ticket Eater. I ended up with over 300 tickets counted. I get a paper receipt, that's good until the end of October's "Fright Nights"! Awesome. (o: Today's Fudge: Birthday Cake. And Saturday was done. Playland Does Tropical. And they ARE real palm trees. Truth! AtmosFEAR has it's own Special Event Tent. Sweet. Twin Pirates Sharknado? Arrrrr...... Line ups for a music festival, I think The Twins. Where the Festival was happening. On the PNE Summer Concerts stage. Poor seat C5. Sunday - Walking to the park from my car - Little League game going on. And the locals do NOT want them parking in their paid-for "Residents Only" block. Bad Capsule Machine. But I got my $ back. (o: Are these clouds "head choppers"? i.e. The Twins are beheaded! And so, Saturday's visit ends, with 5 rides on Coaster. Total rides so far: 25. (Of my goal of riding Coaster 66 times ~my age~ before the start of this year's PNE.) -

From June 3-9, they're celebrating Donald Duck's 85th Birthday at Shanghai Disneyland! http://www.tdrexplorer.com has posted a little article about the one week celebration which includes special decorations, as well as souvenirs and food for the occasion. I love the Donald Butt Headband! This is called the Special Birthday Restaurant Package. Yum! -

Nope. Wasn't open today. Along with a few other flats and an upcharge. And a capsule machine got my dollar without giving me The Prize! Grrrr. Going back tomorrow, with continued hope. And I'll post some photos, later on.
