  1. Listening to an awesome recent Broadway Musical. Perfect for our (Vancouver, BC) Pride Weekend... and Parade tomorrow. Look it up, and I hope a tour of it comes to our town, soon. Or they do it locally, like at TUTS during a summer!
  2. Listening to a perfect Pride Weekend (for Vancouver, Canada) Broadway Cast CD. Final Song: "Build A Prom."
  3. Great tour of (where you went in) Tokyo! And it never gets old, seeing all those neon signs everywhere! It's such an intense rush of "city vibes" no matter where you are there, most of the time. Thanks for sharing your City Day! I miss Japan.
  4. ^ Hmmm. Didn't notice that at all, till you mentioned it now. Playland is sometimes a bit lax in it's maintenance schedules (to me), that it wouldn't surprise me if the flags don't get replaced before the PNE (Aug.17th opening btw). I'm sure they wanted Corkscrew sold and out of the way, too. But that doesn't look like it's happening, either. So they put up the vague "Coming Soon" banners for now. Actually, I still get a kick out of the fact, they don't really advertise too much for future stuff. We find out, as it happens. New PNE food being offered. I mean, WTF??? (I'm just glad they didn't use 3-Ks.)
  5. After our trip to Disney and Knott's next month, it's a three-year gap between trips. Next one is 2022 for me and David. Paris and Amsterdam. Hmmm. Maybe a solo trip to this area in 2021 will happen, once Pantheon gets through it's inaugural season.
  6. ^ WOW! Amaaaazing drone work! I mean, to me, this is better than a POV! Thanks for posting it, Marcus! "Helix Under Glass" ~ TPR 2014 Scandi Tour.
  7. ^ I do wonder how fast they can run this thing? Apparently, the opinions here are that the one in Luna Park moves too slow to be considered "thrilling." Near misses at a higher speed might correct that, yes? No?
  8. By this time, I doubt there's going to be one (West Coast Bash) in September. I would think they would have announced it by now, so that people can buy tickets, plan a bit ahead, etc. But then again, who knows? Last minute announcements are possible, yes? No? Best place to keep checking is the section above, TPR Events. I do. And have. Me and What's-Its-Name. WCB-2016.
  9. Sounds like you had a great day there, Bert! And if you see the eventual film first, provide a link to it, please?
  10. ^ I was so lucky to actually see a few of his original productions on Broadway (Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd, revival of Show Boat, Phantom). I wish I could go to the theatre memorial they'll be planning for the fall. Should be an amazing tribute.
  11. I was "framed" in a few pix by CTV National News, in their info.tent located in front of the main Playland entrance. Earlier today. A few were taken with my camera. This was a fairly good one.
  12. ^ LOL! Well, when all is said and done, I'm still going to try it, when The Fair happens. They had chocolate flavored one time, and bacon flavored cotton candy another, so it's worth a try. Hopefully I won't freek out and want more more MORE! I just bought some "specialty popcorn" at Playland today, and $6 for the small ($9 large) I don't think I'll be regularly buying that, any time soon. It was cheese, by the way, and it wasn't too bad. Today marks the third day in this week I went to the park. Today was like Monday, which had really small lines at Coaster, and generally an easy day there. Wednesday was the packed day there. Many many colours (t-shirts) of BIG groups of children running around. And it was a very hot afternoon, too. So Wednesday's the day I spent the least time, there. And with the $1 popcorn I got on Wednesday, I added the cheese popcorn to, today. And I played Monopoly Quarters Drop all three days with pretty good payoffs in prize tickets. A really light queue today. But with the heat, I could only stand riding Coaster once. What's this? Oh, right. PNE. Where to hang a mister line. A shiny spot on The Wheel. Hells Gate gets mooned by Crazy Beach Party. The obligatory Swinger shot, before leaving. Where important Coaster Signs go, now. I like this one. BTW, the 45th Anniversary of Coaster, was in 2003. Now, it's over 61 years old! (o: AND. we're "Canada's Oldest Wooden Coaster," Woo Hoo! Today's fudge I bought, was.... Looking at this again, I think that they repainted the entire background of Break Dance. Cool! Meanwhile... After last night's rainfall, there were still lots of clouds overhead, but eventually some sunshine came through. Lots of orange t-shirts around the park, today. Another not-too-busy queue here at Coaster. I got three rides in! Moon! Ticket booths set up for the upcoming PNE.... ....with "something special" added, here. (o; Nice flag. I like it. This is for all you tire wheel nerds out there. Enjoy. Almost got it all in. Time to pay $$$ for some different popcorn. The large bag was $9. The small one, $6. Choices were Caramel, Cheese, & Kettle Corn. I chose Cheese. In a small bag. The Swinger Shot. There's usually some company with a tent outside the main gate. Today it was CTV National News station. And they had this set up, so I had the nice young woman snap a few of me "framed." (o: And here's the Cheese popcorn, mixed in with what I got (for a dollar) on Wednesday. Both good popcorns.
  13. This just in! The PNE has announced some of the new foods and beverages that will be available during this month's PNE. For example... ...How about some PICKLE Cotton Candy? More to come...
  14. Last week, we attended both shows of this summer's Theatre Under The Stars. Or TUTS. Of course, I took no photos during the productions, them self. But I got a few before and after the shows. And the Sunday performance of "Newsies" was also our annual Alumni Night of which I am a member, having performed in their first production of "Carousel"...fifty years ago! Yeah, it opened in 1969 and I was 16 years old and in the chorus! This was our Thursday night (July 25th) show. In the Archives Tent. I did: Carousel/1969; My Fair Lady/1970; Hello Dolly!/1971; Brigadoon/1972; Fiddler On The Roof/1975; West Side Story/1977. They didn't bother with a front curtain for both these shows. Which was cool to see what was already there. How it all looks from the "back of the house." (o; Our view from our third row on-the-aisle seats, at Intermission. Love the little dock they built for it. Everything has to be removed to put the other set in place, since these shows are done "in rep." It's a hassle for both the designers and the crew, but everybody works together for these great productions of TUTS. Sunday, July 28th- Alumni Night. Me and David behind two legends of TUTS. Cecilia & Roger Smith. Doing the Archives now, they both were much MUCH more involved in the early TUTS shows, like myself. Roger was an awesome Stage Manager, and Cecelia was TUTS' first Eliza in their 1970 production of "My Fair Lady." She later sang the Bird Lady in TUTS' prod. of "Mary Poppins" a few years ago. She was wonderful, still. Our VIP section, during the Alumni Night. Not a free bar though. One of the Directors of TUTS, noting those of us who did "Carousel" 50 years ago. And thanking us for starting it all. Back of the house, with the NEWSIES set onstage. Our third row, on-the-aisle view of the great set for NEWSIES. After it's over. The herd heading out to their cars and transit. G'night TUTS. See ya next summer!
  15. Too late. I just crucified you. Ha ha, my partner swears by them. Me? Not so much.
  16. They have a Sky Ride! We rode it in....1974!
  17. ^ That just - looks - wrong. Hope you enjoyed it. I was back at Belgian Fries yesterday, using the last of my filled up 'cards' to get $$$ off anything on their menu. So I went back to get my #1 Choice of their Burgers there...... The Ultimate (#35). With bacon of course! Screw the sunny side up egg! (o; ...And my usual lager beer. Mmmmm this looks good! And....it was! I got some Scallion Mayo Dip for the fries and the burger, also good. Here's the entire Burger List, again.
  18. Sad news, today... https://www.broadway.com/buzz/191114/harold-prince-winner-of-21-tony-awards-directorproducer-of-phantom-cabaret-more-dies-at-91/
  19. Received my newest Tokyo DisneySea Transit Steamer from eBay and TOMICA. TDS does an annual summer event called "Pirates Summer" featuring the Fab Four (or Five?). And TOMICA designs and produces one (or more) of the many TDL/S cars/ride vehicles, all themed to the event in question. This totals 27 (out of a possible 29 from my searches) I have collected of this particular TDS vehicle. Neat! (o:
  20. Bert told me of "the trick" on our visit in 2017. So thanks to Bill, too! It made it so much easier for Magnum re-rides. Which we actually did! Bert on the Witches Wheel (RIP). June 4, 2017. I declined, riding it.
  21. I always smile, when I look at this shot. Thanks to whoever took the shot. And wherever this sign is posted. (o:
  22. Every year during our Pride time in Vancouver, somebody always creates a Pride Donut to sell during a few of the events, including our Parade, which happens on the first Sunday of August (04th this time). The proceeds go to "A Loving Spoonful" in Vancouver. This one looks great! And only $5 Cdn. Yum! Too pretty to eat, really. Ooooooo menage-a-trois? (o;
