SFMM PTR 5/3/09

LOL, stupid me. Well yeah, what was the longest wait you waited in? We hit all the major rides while never waiting more than 20 minutes for any ride. Weird. Regarding the roughness of Revolution, I don't think it's bad at all. There are spots though that are pretty jerky and you do end up slamming your head into the OTSRs quite a bit. -
I definitely wouldn't of picked Terminator for the theme of the ride, but to be honest it doesn't really matter to me. I'm really just excited for the ride itself. As long as it rides great, I could care less about what it's themed to. I actually do think that the Terminator theme fits the coaster well, though. The previews for the new Terminator movie present a more rusty, run-down look (as opposed to the more clean and shiny look of the previous films), which is how I think a Terminator woody can be justified. I hope I can make it May 23rd! I'm so excited for this ride!

I love Roaring Rapids, it's so mellow. But yeah, it does get you SOAKED. You can't see exiting riders from the queue, so you kind of underestimate how wet you get. When I got off, there was pretty much no dry spot on my body, hahaha. Anyways, awesome TR. I always love Tasu pictures, that ride is so photogenic. BTW, did you visit on May 3rd? I don't recall the lines being long at all. -
Saw Star Trek last night and it was awesome. It exceeded my already high expectations. The visuals were amazing, the action was great, the acting was on par and there was humor throughout. A bit long, but it didn't seem like it because it was interesting and entertaining the whole time. I didn't want it to end! I could sit here typing away about how awesome I thought the movie was, but to spare you from reading repetitive rambling, I'll just say that it gets a BIG A+ from me. Also, ever heard of the rock opera Tommy by The Who? We're watching it in AP US History. All I'll say is if you ever wanted to know what it's like to be on LSD, watch it. Hahaha.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

In line for Goliath at SFMM: "Let's ride in the back, it goes faster!" I don't think you'd have to be a roller coaster fanatic to figure that one out... -
You were at Six Flags on Sunday? I saw someone in Goliath's station with a WCB shirt on, but it was too late to say something. Was that you? Anyways, I love the helix on Goliath because of the crushing g's. It's definitley not my favorite feeling, but there's just something about the feeling of being pushed into my seat that I love.

I see you live in Temecula, does Green River Country Club sound familiar? It's in Corona. Yeah, I'm am pretty excited hahaha. I'm a big fan of our school dances, haha so I hope Prom doesn't disappoint! I'm pretty sure a "Band Dance" is the equivalent to our band banquets. Pretty much a dance that's limited to band geeks, haha.

^ My prom is this Saturday. We're celebrating at SFMM the day after. When is yours? Yeah, so school. My 2-weeks worth of makeup work now turned into three. And I have to get it done before my Algebra teacher changes his mind about all the work. It's mostly my fault, but it's freakin' hard to do everything at once when you're trying to keep all your other classes up to par. Thank God school's almost out...

As disappointing as it is that they're not getting to the queue, to me, it's not too big of a deal when you look at the big picture. Compared to all the other things being done, it's pretty minor. If you ask me, I'd much rather have an awesome Carland or Little Mermaid attraction than a pimped-out Fun Wheel queue. As for the budget being cut rather than "moved", that is a scary thought. I'd hate to see more of these small things being cut in the future. It really bothers me that this is going to stand out against all the new Victorian architecture that is being put in. It just doesn't fit in. But oh well, I like to be optimistic. I'm hoping that the orange tarp is just temporary and that a new queue is coming eventually.

Theme Park Halloween Preview
FitchCoaster replied to Paul Arthur's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That did NOT help with my Haunt withdrawals. Anyways, great photo TR. I love seeing pictures of these Halloween conventions. I hope to see some of this stuff used in some of this year's events! I thought the drowning girl prop was awesome, but I'd definitely run past it in a maze, hahaha. The 'woman giving birth' was used last year in Club Blood at Knott's. It was pretty effective, well at least for me. I jump at everything, lol. -
New Vekoma Flyer in China 2008

Looks like a fun little ride, it's just something that I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes for. And by the looks of it, the wait is definitely going to be more than that... At least it looks neat! -

You have no idea how excited I was when I read the title of this thread. I'm always down in that area, but I've never really had the time to stop by (either that or I'm bust at Sea World...) Anyways... Great pictures! It's great to see some pictures of this place, I pretty much grew up there as a little kid. Giant Dipper is such a great ride, IMO. Now that I think about it, the Giant Dipper was my first "big" roller coaster. I also rode the thing 13 times on my 13th birthday, hahaha. Great memories there. How smooth was it running? I heard they recently re-tracked the thing. I also agree that the Morgan trains need to be replaced, the ride would be even more fun with newer, more smoother running trains. It's also nice to see that the place is being updated and kept in good shape. The new rides look fun. Great trip report! I really enjoyed it. -
I just bought my first two TPR DVDs two weeks ago, which was Coaster Expedition 11 and the first RAW. I just have to say, that these DVDs exceeded my expectations (and my expectations were pretty high). As everyone else has said before, CE11 really captures the spirit of TPR. It really shows what sets TPR apart from other coaster websites. The friendly, almost family-like atmosphere shines and it's just pure entertainment watching the typical TPR antics in interesting parks. Put quirky people in a quirky country, it's a match made in heaven. The editing was awesome, also. I found myself not only impressed by the content of the DVD, but how it was edited and put together as well. All in all, it gets a big 'A' from me! I got the first RAW DVD because I wanted to get the first one of the series before I got the second one. Reason being I wasn't sure how I was going to like it. I'm not a fan of 'raw' coaster footage, and being a long-time fan of coaster videos with 'TPR antics' in them, I was pretty sure that I was going to enjoy CE11 much more than RAW. I was wrong. I enjoyed it as much, if not a bit more than CE11. The TPR atmosphere was still present throughout the whole DVD, even if all the footage was just of roller coasters. The POVs were flawless and I particularly enjoyed the the 'woodies' DVD. I was thoroughly impressed with this DVD and it also gets an 'A' from me. Awesome job Robb, I can't wait for May 11th for CE12 and RAW 3!

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

At DCA a few weeks ago... Friend 1 - "How tall is Maliboomer do you think?" Friend 2 - "Uhh, it's 1000 feet tall." Friend 1 - "Are you serious?" Friend 2 - "Ummm, yeah. Don't you see the numbers on the side of the tower?" To this day I still don't know if my friend was being serious. I don't want to. Hahaha. -

Coaster "Power Colors"?
FitchCoaster replied to Worra315's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the new paint job on Medusa (Bizzaro) at SFGADV looks awesome, and so does Scream!. I think blue B&Ms are pretty sexy in general actually, haha. I'm quite fond of the paint job on Silver Bullet, too. I just hate that for a ride named Silver Bullet, the only silver on the ride is on the supports. Hahaha. For Intamin, I think red looks great. I love Xcel's colors. Too bad it looks like crap now. That ride is in desperate need of a paint job. -

This sounds awesome! I'd totally do it! It's the day before my birthday, and I'm thinking it would be a great way to celebrate, hahaha. I'm going to have to talk some of my friends into doing this with me, hmmm... -
Reasons why today was awesome: -85 degree weather. -Juice It Up! (equivalent to Jamba Juice) -I got my TPR DVDs and some sunglasses I ordered on the internet today. -Watched Coaster Expedition 11 then took a three-hour nap to catch up on some sleep from the night before. -Had Panda Express, yum!
