  1. Screw summer, I think I'll go get one out of the fridge right now. Just think how exciting it will be to brew some good beer for a change Wally.
  2. I'd go with kick it real hard. Sorry, Wally, but that isn't a car, it's a toy.
  3. ^ Exactly. I just don't have what it takes to commit to something that permanent I guess. And lets be honest, they just aren't going to look nearly as cool when I'm 60 and weigh another 40 lbs.
  4. I've really got to get my ass on an Intiman hyper. Justin "patiently waiting for the 2008 mainland Europe trip" Saxe.
  5. Won't be making WCB this year because of stupid Knott's accommodating stupid ACE. Will be there the weekend before though
  6. Soren, that was a great PTR. Looks like an amazing birthday. That is too cool that your parents were able to make it out. P.S. Looking forward to meeting you and Alessandra this March!
  7. Sandi and I will be down there on the ORIGINAL Solace weekend date, so it looks like we won't see you there this year Chris. Have fun and we'll catch you guys later in the year hopefully. Unless you want to plan it for the 4th! There will be quite a few of us down there
  8. Great video! I guess I can hope for second place in the TPR video contest this year now that I know first is locked up
  9. ^^DATman, I'm sure Robb new which post you were responding to. You are one of the better young posters on this site, unfortunately the bad ones outnumber the good ones at least 3 to 1. I'm 32, and I'm sure that probably seems old to a lot of the younger members on this site, but I can clearly remember what it was like being sixteen years old and a junior in high school. If I were to write a serious letter to anyone at that age I doubt you would be able to tell the difference between it and a letter I would write today. The letter we are talking about in this thread looks to be written by a 4th to 6th grader. Justin "not trying to "bash" anyone, just stating the truth" Saxe.
  10. ^ I agree with you for the most part. I don't believe Traver was this evil person trying to torture people. Some things, however, are fact. The Lightning and Cyclone both had deaths from people riding them. Now of course it is very likely the deaths were from riders being careless and not the ride itself. But, the way things were in the Roaring Twenties, I can absolutely believe people would go out of there way to ride a coaster that had a reputaion for being dangerous. In addition, we know both coasters were maintanence nightmares, which was caused from the stress the coster went through each time it cycled. These were no doubt insane rides compared with any of todays coasters but I totally agree that they it is sometimes hard to seperate fact from fiction. I do believe there is eough documentation out there to assume that injuries were common on these (and many other coasters of that erea) for a number of reasons. Justin "roller coaster history has always facinated me" Saxe.
  11. This is from a book I have about Golden Age coasters. It is refering to Traver's Lightning. Unfortunately, even if the Crystal Beach Cyclone or Revere Beach Lightning would not have been torn down for ecconomic reasons, they certainly would have eventually been shut down for safety reasons. The nurse station deal was very real. Broken bones and dislocated joints were not at all uncommon on these. Having said that, I would kill to be able to go back in time and ride one of those coasters.
  12. Been a few days now but just noticed this thread. We actually avoided loosing our power here in Oregon City (just outside of Portland) and made it through the storm with only a few limbs braking from our tree in the front yard. Living in a area that rarely has ANY wind to speak of really makes it a lot more intense because nothing is used to getting blown around. Oh, and I did find my garbage can in one of my neighbors yards a few houses down but other than that it was all good. As far as the climbers go, I'm not sure how much national attention this is still getting, but they did find one of the climbers dead in a snow cave on Mt Hood and the other two are feared dead. They found climbing gear that leads them to believe that the climbers tried to anchor themselves to the side of the mountain just above a very high, steep ravine, and were probably blown off due to the incredibly high winds on the mountain at that time. Hopefully that is not what happened but chances are very slim they are still alive.
  13. Great pics as always. Looked like a lot of fun was had by all. Justin "looking forward to March even more now" Saxe.
  14. ^^ No way that heap makes it up to 100mph anymore Paul. When that thing first opened the launch was better, still not good, but better. Those trains barely make it 2/3rds of the way up that spike anymore. I think an F-14 might be a little quieter too. I wouldn't shed any tears over Revolution getting scraped either.
  15. Iced, quad, vinti, mocha. I LOVE STARBUCKS. I even own stock, and shares have went up nicely ove the last two years. Have to support my company you know.
  16. Hey, there almost to .500! Looks like a good time. Can't believe you got Catrina out in that kind of weather.
  17. Nice to see both of Silverwood's coasters in the top 20 still, as it is about the closest thing to a decent home park I have. Although, having been on Thunderhead, Tremors did drop to my number 2 spot.
  18. His great grandfather was Irish???
  19. Yeah I have to admit, this show is really getting pretty freakin good. I was sceptical at first, but it just gets better every episode. Last night was definitely the best yet.
  20. Excellent TR. Best retro TR I think I've seen.
  21. break.com/index/gorilla_picks_butt_and_eats_it.html
  22. ^ I do like my foo-foo margarits. But one of those Wally size mugs full of Widmer Hef doesn't sound too bad either.
  23. Excellent! That works out best for me too. I'll buy the first round at the Knott's Hotel.
  24. I can only say that compared to Medusa @ SFMW, Scream is VERY rough. Actually, out of the 12 or so B&M's that I can think of off the top of my head that I have been on, Scream was the roughest with the exception of Vortex @ PGA. I still think Scream is a good ride, just not very smooth for a B&M.
  25. ^ TPR wouldn't be the same place without your 2 cents. Wally, Sandi and I were thinking about doing Solace without the kids this year but if your bringing Karen and Gavin along maybe we will bring the kids too. You planning a day or two at Disney I assume?
