  1. Maybe the Westboro Baptist Church was right? God is clearly showing his wrath by killing our most beloved public figures. RIP Ron Weasley
  2. If you've haven't been to either, I would probably say go to Hershey; they have a really great, unique selection of coasters, and I really can't imagine having an awful day there. On the other hand, I do think Dorney is a pretty underrated park; Talon and Steel Force are very good coasters, and Dorney has a great selection of water rides, both in the waterpark and the ride park. And, as many people have said, the lines are nearly always very short, which is virtually the opposite from Hershey (Hershey doesn't necessarily get massive lines; I've just found them to be consistently long).
  3. LOL! I thought that was great! Really good job guys, it's awesome of you to put that together.
  4. Is it just me, or does the entire Scandinavia trip seem really amazing? There hasn't been a bad park of the bunch it seems. Every one looks at the very least clean, and there are some awesome coasters. Makes me really want to go there! And its great that Tranan's concept worked, it looked interesting to me.
  5. ^I definitely see what you mean. Really, all the transitions seem a little sharp to me. I have to believe it rides better than it looks.
  6. I thought the F1 coaster was Premier? It just doesn't seem quite right for Intamin to me, I'm not sure why. Either way, hopefully KD will get something unique.
  7. ^^I understand that the admins and mods fully support and recommend uploading pictures to TPR servers, but I don't understand why it's absolutely necessary to do so. NLDC is a known and well-organized site, it doesn't seem much different than posting links to RCDB pages. I look at it as the builders doing us a favor of letting us see their ride, not us doing them a favor by riding it. Anyway, about the coaster, I'll try to give feedback as best I can. I liked the design for the most part, it seemed like a pretty good mix of GCI elements. I especially liked the exit of the first turnaround/entry of the first (not counting the pre-lift), it was very well shaped, and the Gs seemed in check. As you said, the first drop was sort of imperfect, and I got red Gs riding in the back at the bottom of the first drop, which seemed a little bit too banked. The pre-lift seemed off, both turns seemed a little tight and overbanked (this might just be me though). The only other notable pump I saw was in the first turn over the water, it seemed to tighten up abruptly near the exit. Overall, it's definitely good, and some parts of it were, to me, just excellent. Thanks!
  8. Strongest air: El Toro. Best air: Phoenix. Phoenix is hands down the most fun coaster I've ever been on, it surprises me every time I ride.
  9. I liked this TR, I totally agree about the slab of concrete and over-enforcement of safety. I don't entirely blame CP though, I think the park probably gets a larger amount of people who come on vacation and turn their minds off than most other parks, and a death there would most likely be national news, so they have a tiny bit of reason for the safety precautions. It's strange though, Maverick is my favorite steel coaster, partially because I loved the transitions. The horseshoe roll is my favorite element ever, and everything else about the ride (the banking in particular) is so perfectly done IMO.
  10. So I guess Flying Turns probably won't be open by next week, right? Anyway, it's cool to see some changes going on at the park.
  11. If you're there before the park opens, go to the left of the fountain towards where El Toro is. When they drop the rope there, go straight, then bear right into the small arcade in a tent-looking thing. Go through the arcade, straight, then left. You'll probably be the first one on ET if you're fast. I personally prefer the front on El Toro because the first three hills are IMO better there, but most people seem to like the back, and it's great too.
  12. ^I live like 10 or 15 minutes away from the Willow Grove Mall. It's really a shame they changed it from an amusement park to a mall, it would have been so cool to live that close to a park. It's actually got a pretty interesting history too, I might see what I can dig up. I'd say PA is a home to a lot of parks partially because its geography; hilly with lots of trees makes for a great atmosphere for both parks and coasters themselves. Some of the adjacent states are similar, but PA's high population and historic significance probably also makes a difference.
  13. I hope this isn't backseat modding, but I think it's safe to say that TPR isn't the right place to try to find electronics. Try: http://www.ebay.com/
  14. ^Or order it online!
  15. ^I would probably think Swine Flu was overrated if I died from the 'normal' flu, or any of the other of thousands of diseases that don't have constant national attention. Really, Swine Flu has not killed a huge amount of people. Surely, any death is bad, but by the same token a few people die on roller coasters each year. Anyway, I think we have a bigger problem to deal with when it comes to overattention in the media: Susan Boyle. I do wish your dad luck though.
  16. Ah, I understand, I hadn't thought about file size. I might still download, now that Dave says it I did remember CE1 being good quality, so the .mp4s would work fine. And I think TPR's prices are very reasonable, but I've got to find something to do with the stack of discs I have sitting here.
  17. About the downloadable DVDs, would they also be available as .isos for burning to a DVD, or just .mp4s? Would they be of high enough quality to watch on a TV (via XBOX 360), or pretty much limited to iPod-sized screens?
  18. On the subject of TPR footage, I've wondered for a while now: is the POV on the El Toro video TPR or Six Flags? I want to know mostly because of the person constantly saying "Wow!" throughout the video, I don't want to believe it's Robb.
  19. Looks pretty good. The banking of that turn near the station doesn't seem right, and there's something a bit off seeming about the heartline roll. Look forward to a download.
  20. Like netdvn said, but I think Plug N' Play versions of other coasters would be an awesome idea. Any classic wooden coaster, or rides that have either deteriorated or are in danger of doing so (i.e. Ghostrider or Voyage) would be the best candidates for this. Also, I've always thought that moving cars, such as Arrow-esque suspended coasters, ball coasters, or 4D coasters (X2) have a massive amount of untapped potential, and that if a company like B&M or Intamin tried to build some of these designs (with the exception of the ball coaster), they could be really great coasters.
  21. This is interesting, because on my last two visits, especially the one at the end of last year, Nitro's crew was one of the best I'd ever seen. I considered submitting a positive report for the ops and attendants, they were so fast. On the other hand, on my last visit, the crew at El Toro must have been new, because they were barely sending out any trains it seemed, especially early in the day.
  22. Flyers have got the next game too. Only way the Penguins won Game 2 was with a lucky bounce (two, actually) and a bad penalty.
  23. Wow, that's really a shame. This really does seem like something they would have done a few years ago, but not anymore... here's hoping they get some stuff open for the Big Mike Road Show! I can't help but wonder if this'll just be for today or not, I'm going on Thursday.
  24. Wow, I didn't realize they weren't given to everybody, I think I've got one with just about everything I've ordered from TPR. I have one that doesn't work (school does terrible things to pens), but two that still do. -Emil "Expecting to get my fourth with my Bag O Crap!" Gruber
  25. I don't remember seeing any of these trashy people I hear people talking about.... anyway, having been to both SFGAdv, Hersheypark, and Cedar Point (but not much else), and Knoebels is still my #1 park.
