  1. Easily the worst motel I've heard of near a theme park was a quaint little place called the Valley Lodge Motel near Knoebels. It was run by a small group of rednecks, and so you can imagine it was top notch living. It was absolutely filthy. There was paint on the towels, the beds were never made, the sheets were stained, the rooms were small (as was the entire building), and overall you'd probably find your car more comfortable. I can't even truly detail how bad some of it was. However, easily the best part of the Valley Lodge Motel was their brochure. The cover exclaimed, "Well Come! To The Valley Lodge Motel". Some of the intense mistakes they made went from simple capitalization mistakes, to the most bizzarre sentences I've ever read. My favorite one is on the page they show nearby events and attractions. One sentence claims, "2 Iseland shikellamy parks both side of the river, one on plane land and the other on top of the hill which gives wonderful view." What the hell is an Isleand shikellamy? Here are pictures of the brochure. And keep in mind, this is basically what the whole motel was like. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/whosinthetree/LodgeCover.jpg > Cover http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/whosinthetree/Lodge1.jpg >Page 1 http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/whosinthetree/Lodge2.jpg >Page 2 http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/whosinthetree/Lodge3.jpg >Page 3 http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/whosinthetree/Lodge4.jpg >Page 4 http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/whosinthetree/Lodge5.jpg >Page 5
  2. 19/25 Was it just me, or were a lot of those about PA coasters? Eh, I'm not complaining!
  3. I'm for the front 95% percent of the time. Even on coasters most people insist are better in the back (Steel Force), I prefer the front. Mostly because I can't resist the feeling of flight on the front, but also because I prefer less intense rides overall. And is it just me, or is Nitro MUCH better in the front?
  4. Home park: Dorney Park Best coaster: Steel Force Biggest disappointment: Hydra
  5. I got stuck right near the top of the lift on Superman: Ultimate Flight at SFGAdv, which got pretty irritating to the chest after half an hour. They finally got the ride working, and then had us get off on the brake run. It would have sucked, but we got two free tickets to the park from it, so it's all fine by me.
  6. I personally can't wait to get on Fahrenheit. I live close to Hershey, and I'm madly in love with Intamin, so you can imagine that I'll be taking a trip this summer. It has a cool combination of elements, and I'm really excited to experience the Norwegian Loop. As for the lift/drop, it doesn't seem even slightly gimmicky to me, and I'd be surprised if it didn't provide some nice air, especially in the back. What I look forward to next: beyond-vertical lifts.
  7. Ship.
  8. What if you had a father and son, and then a family friend of theirs? One of us will sleep on the floor, we swear.
  9. I E-mailed you this question, and I'm probably being impatient, but I'd like to know: would it be possible to have three to a room? And if so, could you give me any sort of an estimate on how much that would cost? Thanks!
  10. Hooray for reviving dead threads! Sorry to anybody who posted above if I'm stealing your turn, but it's been a good bit of time, and I don't think anybody knows, so: 1. Intamin 2. It's moving one state to the right 3. 70 MPH
  11. While I personally agree with you that a wood coaster shouldn't necessarily have a specific feel, and that El Toro is just as much a wooden coaster as Sky Princess, a major part of the Voyage group seem to dislike El Toro because in their opinion a woodie should feel "like a woodie". I probably should have put it in quotations.
  12. A lot of this debate seems to be coming down to two things: 1) Whether you prefer more out-of-control, twisty, aggressive coasters. Yes: Voyage No: Toro 2) Whether you feel that wooden coasters should be a little rough, and feel like a wooden coaster. Yes: Voyage No: Toro Don't take this wrong, I'm certainly not an expert on Voyage, and I'm not trying to pass judgment on it, this is just what the conversation boils down to in my opinion.
  13. I know I'm posting on a dead topic here, but I thought I'd share my relatively narrow insight. I haven't been on Voyage, but based solely off the reviews I've heard here and other places, it doesn't seem like my cup of tea. I, like Robb, prefer airtime hills over twister sections any day. I'm not much of a fan of out-of-control laterals, which is basically what, from what I hear, is most of the Voyage. I have, on the other hand, been on El Toro, and there really is no way to convey the airtime on those first two hills with words. I went onto the ride expecting it to be great (never a good idea), and it was beyond that. The force of the first hill is so intense that I swear my mind went momentarily blank as I flew over it. It's such an incredible feeling, and it's possibly the only coaster I've been on that actually feels like it might just eject you. I found the twister sections to be a little too aggressive (I prefer a "lighter" ride), but still enjoyable. While El Toro could have greatly benefited from some more hills near the end, it doesn't change the fact that this coaster absolutely destroys most other coasters in some ways (airtime, smoothness), and still does a damn good job in it's weaker areas (length, laterals). But hey, I'm new. What do I know?
  14. One quick question: when/where will a list of dates for each park be posted? Hope to see you guys at Dorney or SFGAdv!
