  1. As much as people like to rip on DCA's ToT, it should be noted that all versions post Disney MGM are essentially the same as DCA's. Even at DisneySea where budget is obviously not an issue, the ride system is the same as DCA's. They had a bigger budget, which just went into the building details and the preshow. So, the reason DCA's ToT is "abbreviated" is not solely due to budget cutbacks, but also reliability issues. I believe it also has a higher rider capacity, since it has 3 drop shafts and WDW only has 2. The longer ride in FL also negatively impacts riders per hour.
  2. Now it just needs a Tampico Tumbler.
  3. Well, the worst named coaster I can think of (technically different than worst name, but oh well) is the upcoming Goliath at SFFT. Why a Batman clone being renamed Goliath we may never know.
  4. Yeah, I think the drop of Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka have a 270 degree twist to make it less thrilling/scary. If they went straight down, well, a lot of people would probably find it too intense. I think for a few years there was a coasters arms race, but it seems to have died down a little. There also seems to be a bit of a woodie revival going on, which is a very good thing.
  5. This thread is almost as old as this forum, yet the correct answer has not yet been stated. Dodonpa, at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan, has airtime so extreme it becomes uncomfortable and unpleasant. Just ask Robb!
  6. ^Yup, just the fastest...but someone played favorites and left off HyperSonic XLC in favor of Desperado and Nitro.
  7. I've been on Grizzly, and I don't remember it being that bad. Then again I was 15.
  8. ACErs think laterals are the most thrilling element of a coaster, so I dunno. I think making these top 10 lists is really an exercise in futility.
  9. Who said that? At least according to Robb, the world's #1 steel and wood coasters are not in the US. US has the most, though.
  10. We don't know if it will be replacing the Grizzly, though. 1 for 1 coaster trade-offs is not the way to build a world class amusement park. If the Pictorium is demolished, it will be another Marriott era attraction gone.
  11. ^And Titan appeared to be during an e-stop. It seems they they think height and speed are the only criteria. Superman: The Escape is the 3rd scariest coaster in the country? Um, no. And wait, 4 loops became 2 on the Phantom??? Must be phantom loops. You'll never have a true top 10 list because much of it is subjective.
  12. Casey, if you're not going to finish this TR, can you at least post the TGIFridays pic, please?
  13. Old news, old news, OLD NEWS!!! I personally drove by SFMM last night to see for myself, and there was nothing to be seen. No fires, no smoke, nothing! You wouldn't have even known there was ever a fire in the area. As it's been said, there are already 2 threads discussing this.
  14. Great PTR, Natatat! I hope to see more from you.
  15. What if they used a death metal song? It's probably the closest thing most people will get to the holy grail of a lights on ride, so for that reason I hope they do bring it back.
  16. After seeing footage on the news, photos on the internet, and reading things in this thread such as "a fire started under Viper," I had to go check out SFMM tonight for myself to see how things were. I saw no fires in the immediate area, no evidence that there were ever any fires, not even smoke in the distance. Nothing! I think the worst has passed.
  17. OTSRs on coasters that don't need them. SFMM's Revolution and DCA's California Screamin' come to mind.
  18. ^All I have to say about the Japanese monster burger is where's the beef? It's got, what, 2 regular sized patties and about a pound of buns?
  19. Here's something to give everyone nightmares:
  20. I'll leave calling guys sexy to you, Barry. I will say this, though, I'm sure we all wish we had a dad as cool as Bob.
  21. Now this thread should get more hits than Chuck's! One question remains, though...did Kristie want to go on this trip too, or did she choose Spain over Japan?
  22. ^^Robb did post a video of it. www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33878 ^Now THAT would be rockin'. Everyone should put that in a suggestion box.
  23. ^ He may be dead, but hamburgers and heavy metal will never die.
  24. Space Mountain with rock concert style lighting effects and "Higher Ground" by Red Hot Chili Peppers as the onride song.
