Some random pics from TPR member's SFoG TRs. The pics are credited to those folks accordingly. You can see in a couple where the bar is. Yes, part of me is curious about the grizzly details too. Such a shame, the whole thing, though. Google Earth overview of SFoG Batman: The Ride You think the accident happened somewhere around this area? Of course, if he hopped the fence to get in, it could be anywhere

Wonder if this will join the other hauntings and ghost stories at SFoG. Sounds like something right out of a folk tale. "In the quiet whispers of closing time, when the moon is full, and the park is empty, the ghostly figure of a boy can be seen wandering below the Batman's tracks, endlessly searching for his severed head."

That last pic is so Roller Coaster Tycoon. Looks like a fun little park. Thanks for including the rapids shots. Always appreciated. -

Ok, I'm lost here. What exactly was the hot and heavy reason the park had to be leveled again? Whomever just HAD to tear Astroworld down, and now, 3 years later, the land is just sitting there, unused. Grrrrrrr...... Sue, sorry you had to pay so much to get the ITZ credit, but love you're dedication. Good TRs of late, too. -
Retro Mini Photo TR: Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Thanks for the kind words all. Much appreciated. Wow! That's right! Good call on that. Just for comparison: 2007 1988 -
Well friends, while scanning old pictures today, I found a handful of Busch Gardens Williamsburg. These were taken on a couple different occasions in/around 1988, namely a middle school band competition, and some other visit I vaguely remember. (We lost, Alto Sax and Francis Scott Key middle school in Springfield, Va, for the curious.) Got a cold drink? A snack? Comfy? Alright Shermon, set the Way Back Machine to circa 1988, and off we go! And we’ll end this gnarly TR with radical words of wisdom. Thank you all for reading. I appreciate it. Such a noble logo. Makes me want a pizza. Sound familiar, Ohio people? Remember the souvenir towel I mentioned? Here it is. Makes you want to tie a sweater around your neck, pop your collar, slip on your penny loafers, and bust out that old copy of Weekend at Bernie’s, doesn’t it? Now where are my aviators… On another trip, no more blue water. I remember a storm soaking my friend and I so badly, we bought towels and flip flops. My shoes were ruined. BUT, Roman Rapids line was empty after the storm, so my friend and I rode about 5 times in a row. Great fun! Notice anything missing here? Yep, no 25 cent water cannons or B&M named after a Rocky prize fighter. As you can see, it was tougher to air dry back in the day. The password is: souvenir towel. Look at that fine sparkling blue Roman water. Makes you wanna hop the fence and take a dip, doesn’t it? Brought to you by MM Flushus. (M=1000 in Roman Numerals) Last year I searched for who this statue might be. Found something close, but can’t remember. Nottus Mentobeus will have to do. I meant to put that pole there. It’s a little thing called style. (cringe) Saving the best for last (and humoring you coaster enthusiasts first) here are a few Roman Rapids shots from opening year and a few months later. No flipping for you, however, my Czech brother. GG, you are one wild and crazy guy! Anybody remember Gladiator’s Gauntlet? It swung and stretched, and even cruised successfully in tight slacks. NOT Little Red Riding Hood approved. Ok, I’m gonna let you all in on a little secret. This is a primo photo angle of Big Bad Wolf. Now, whatever you do, keep it under your hat, or else everybody and their cousin will have this picture. What up all you drop hill and ¾ loop enthusiasts! We’ll call this the brochure shot. It’s one of my faves. After Manny, Moe and Jack, and before Alpie, Apollo, and Grif, Nessie owned the skyline. Happy 30th Nessie! I still remember when you were just a little wet behind the ears. Now that you’re older, you should star with Tim Busfield in a coming of age TV drama. On a random note, dig that Mr. Bubble shirt!

Great report and pics. BGE is one of my faves, and just a terrific all around park. Didn't know about the Go Karts credit. Hmmm, yet ANOTHER good excuse for a return visit. You have taught me something new today. -
I dig Revolution's new paint and updates. The first special on coasters I ever saw, there was a scene with Rev racing along the tracks to Ozzy's Crazy Train. Thought that was the coolest thing and love that song as a result. Plus I just dig 70's era coasters. Whenever I do get to Magic Mountian, it'll be great to chill by Valencia falls and watch Rev and Tatsu cycle while the water flows. Awesome. Jahan, great update!

^ Ahh. Thank you. Well, since it's a redo, I vote for a McDonald's, Carrabba's, Cinnabon, a place that sells Vault Icee and doesn't get rid of it right when it's getting popular, an arcade filled with classic pinball machines and 80's arcade games, Q-Zar, Virtuality machnes, and a Battle-Tech center. Well, a fellow can dream can't he?

Thought I read somewhere the other day that Hornet was Astroworld's Mayan Mindbender. If that's so, glad it's running again, even without a building. -
Awww. I have some great memories of The Adventurer's Club, 8 Trax, and that whole area. Was looking forward to going there again in the next couple years. I expected them to shut down a couple more clubs and refurbish some areas, but didn't expect this. Where does that leave the Dinosaur whatever attraction that was being built there or nearby?

SFKK Northwest Territory
TheRapidsNerd replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a strange gut feeling that Northwest Territory might possibly be removed similarly to what's been talked about with Old Country at SFGAdv. -
Some cool pics, especially the spider and sidewinder shot. So it's not just a clever name, eh? Yay for rapids shot anyway, and thank you. You done good!

(big grin) Good idea CTU! I'm on it. -
"Too much use of the this prefix pre. Pre existing, pre planning. Pre s*** my genital situation!" "The first time I heard 'Rain Even' I thought 'Holy s***! I hope I can get tickets for that!" "We would now like to pre board. You mean I can get on before I get on?!" "About this time someone is telling you to get on the plane. 'Get on the plane. Get on the plane...' I say f*** you I'm getting IN the plane! Let Eval Kneival get ON the plane. I'd rather be in here with you folks in uniform..." "Please observe the no smoking sign until well inside the terminal. It's physically impossible!!!" "This lady is coming on like the f****** mayor's wife welcoming me to an airport she isn't even at yet!" "You ever have a hatchet go right through your face? There's a nice cool breeze that goes across your brain..."
