  1. Ouch and most humerous. Pegasus Trains and Bobsled coasters = Awesome. BTW and slightly off topic, but did KD take off the small drop on Avalanche? I remember a small one being there. Back to topic, some great freebee meals. Photographic proof Big Mike takes the cake.
  2. Saw this earlier today and thought it was great. All the best to you both and terrific way to propose. Well done.
  3. ^ It was a mixed bag. I love the themeing, but it was great too to have Apollo flyover on the way back to it's station. The only thing I was really bummed about was how dialed back the falls near the end were. There was just one. Back in the day, there were 4 and they were cranked up to get you soaked. Half the fun of riding was to see how many falls nailed you. Take away that aspect, and the ride feels neutered. Still love it just the same and was overjoyed to ride again last summer. Really enjoyed Alpie and Grif and got some wonderful pics and vids those days. I hung out in both those areas, just in awe. BG Whatever is just an awesome park. Glad everybody enjoyed and thanks again for all the kind words.
  4. Lol! Sounds like you have a fan club brewing Natatomic. Well, I'm out of the running for the dorky coaster enthusiast, because of the motion sick thing, and the rapids thing. However, I do share your appreciation for wit, artsy coaster pics, and a good pair of chacos. Besides, there are a lot of good guys on this board who could do quite well for what you seek. Hopefully you find happiness just like Mel and Rich did. I don't know them that well, but they really seem happy together and they both love coasters. What could be better than that? Hopefully you do find that which makes you happy and someone special to share it with.
  5. ^That's a really good and useful comparison. Also nice to meet another blogspot blogger.
  6. ^Next gen water parks are just the hot trend the past couple years. It's like back in the 80's when rapids came out. EVERYBODY had to get one. Same for shoot the chutes. Those were the hot tickets. Today, it seems the big items are updated water parks, bowl slides, tornados, some water coasters, and updated wood coasters. The industry is just evolving again and gettig rid of older stuff that's harder to maintain at the same time. Certain rapids, log flumes, and shoot the chutes, and even antique cars are part of the trend.
  7. Natatomic, your pictures and captions do not dissappoint. I truly wish I had wit and timing like yours. Great stuff!
  8. Those are some great shots. Period. Nice work man.
  9. I ended up gravitating to the same spots and angles by pure chance while taking pictures. Didn't realize it until after the trip. Will have to do more before and after shots in future TRs. Those are pretty fun. Hey thanks all.
  10. Ok ok, metaphysical transcendence and humor aside, I hate to see this elusive credit go. But, I can understand the logic behind the descision to a point. No, I don't agree with CRR going away, but I'm not going hater on Hershey either. And, if you had to pick an end to a rapids, this is a better and useful alternative than just empty space or some crappy replacement. EDIT: Special request for all visiting Hershey. Could folks get a few pics of Canyon River Rapids before it's close? Doubtful I'll get up there this year and the reference photos or video would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  11. Screw the Chewbacca defense! PMW defense all the way. Aw great, nowit's stuck in my head again. Argh!
  12. I will now Channel George Carlin..... "The Shore - ...guests will be able to splash, play, and frolic in the rolling surf under the watchful eyes of trained lifeguards. " As apposed to what, lazy-eyed but highly trained orangutangs and a chainsaw wielding alpaca with an inferiority complex? I feel safer already. "Riders will meander and bump alongside each other in rafts on a refreshing ride during those long, hot summer days." Riders, in rafts, going around a circuit, getting wet on a hot day. Brilliant! "Intercoastal Waterway" It's a one-state, land-locked lazy river in the middle of the park! What coasts could it possibly connect? It's a bloody oval that doesn't reach the parking lot! "The expanded Boardwalk will also include an exclusive waterfront cabana area featuring 27 premium waterfront cabanas (exclusive to Hershey Resorts guests). The cabanas will offer spectacular views of The Shore and provide lounge chairs and food and beverages nearby!" Thank God! I'd hate to find a rhino in designated cabana area! It might interupt the flow of my day. And what's with all these over-priced, "I'm better than you because I paid for for a tv, tent and wicker lawn chair from Target" Cabanas? This trend is an elitest ego play, aimed at squeezing more money out of the populace. And only Hershey resort guests can use these premium cabanas? What is premium, exactly? Does that mean while other cabana's are made of rayon, mine's made from silk of a rare Tibetan worm who's butt smells like a KitKat and an old cedar trunk? "...but still you've been asking for MORE! MORE WATER, MORE WAVES AND MORE FUN IN THE SUN!" I didn't ask for this. Did any of you ask for this? I'm pretty sure Intamin AG didn't. I've read everything to the contrary when rumors surfaced about CRR. So then, who exactly WAS asking for this? Space Aliens? (cracks knuckles) Alrighty then! Let's have a look at this "improvement" shall we? Let's start with the name: The Boardwalk The SEAquel. First off, too many 'the's' in this happy fun candy title. Sounds grammatically incorrect and redundant. And SEAquel, while punishly clever and pure marketing genious, should read more like "See? Quell!" as in quelling good sense and popular support for a good rapids ride.
  13. Oh no, my friend, just can't post from work. Shortly, I will channel George Carlin in response. Until then.... DOH!
  14. (jaw hits floor) Wow....I think I peed a little. Never been to Vegas. Those pics are incredible. That City Center thing is off the charts HUGE!! Ok, let's review. Botanical Gardens, Waterfalls, Boobs, Cheesecake Factory, Lamborghini, Fountains. There's no part of this TR I didn't like. Wow. Great update and thanks!
  15. Now I can't get that bloody song out of my head. Ugh!
  16. Big Mike, you're gonna spoil us, though Robb is probably REALLY glad you've shouldered some of the voluntary updating. Thank you for the rapids love my friend. Good vibes and juju to you all from the states!
  17. The poor guy will need therapy after that! Hey, whatever happens, hope it works out all around, and he can get over his fears.
  18. Jardin was a great update! Almost every caption had me laughing. Nice Indiana Jones reference. Can't wait to see this Coaster Expedition DVD later. Cheers and best everybody.
  19. SFMM - Ninja, Gold Rusher, Percy? DL/DCA - Big Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, Mulholland Madness As lame as some of these sound, they are what I'd start out with. If he loves you, he'll try at least a little. If you love him, you won't push him too hard and let him ease into things. Being in similar shoes to him, I'd appreciate it GREATLY. Oh, and make sure Final Destination 3 isn't on cable .
  20. Sounds like you and I were at the same band competition, and you're also close to my age. Pretty cool! Believe it or not, the 2007 water was cleaner. Blue or green dye was used a lot at parks and mini golf courses to color the water. Kinda like a big ole pack of 2000 Flushes. Very true. Just to make it fun, I'll throw in a few more "then and now" shots. Many thanks for the kind words and glad everybody's having fun. That's what really counts. 07 Bra 88 Dude The Futurstic 2000's. Aren't we supposed to have flying cars by now or something? Totally Awesome 80's and 2007 1988 2007 1988 2007 1988
  21. I respectfully disagree here. The real answer is people need to remember that everything we do has consequences, good or bad. We need to use good sense, and take responsibility for our actions.
  22. Tempting, but think I'll pass on this one. Many years ago, when I went with my buddy's Jewish youth group to KD, they were really fun, laid back, and well behaved. I did get a ribbing for being the lone Catholic, but it was a great day out with them.
  23. from CNN.com article http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/06/28/theme.park.fatality/index.html de·cap·i·tate - verb (used with object), -tat·ed, -tat·ing. to cut off the head of; behead: Many people were decapitated during the French Revolution. from dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Decapitated
