Favorite first drop on a Steel Coaster
Vid_w replied to SpectralN's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Katun! Also, does the first saxophone on sequoia count as a first drop? Guess it does... Well, that one gets a hoonorable mention, it's just simply insane... -

What if it's a woody? With switchbacks! OMG, that would be awesome! -

Well, the new and revolutionary things could be the switchbacks... They've been used before, but not really in Europe... At least I can't think of a coaster in Europe that would use switchbacks... Well, they could be used with a different track style... Like Intamin Megalite... -
Worst Coaster Experience
Vid_w replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
May 31st, last year, i was at Gardaland, and when i passed blue tornado, i noticed there was no line at all. Which was weird, becouse Blue Tornado is one of the most crowded rides at gardaland usually, and that day the crowds were anything but light. Well, anyway, I had luck, and ended up in front of the line for the next train, and decided to take the front. I have ridden Blue tornado several times before, and it was never really horrible. Some headbanging, but it was still rideable, even somewhat fun. Some headbanging, but i'm usually not that bothered by that. I learned how to ride, throughout the years of Visiting the park which has a contract with Vekoma... Well, anyway, I sat down, and closed my restraint. It didn't go down as much as it usually does, it seemed, like one step was missing. So, it was quite shaky, and didn't really provide a sense of safety. Well, than we started to go up the lift. i enjoyed the view, chatted with my neighbour a bit, and stuff like that. At the top, I braced myself, as usually, and waited for the "fun" to begin. When we dropped down the first drop, everything seemed normal. I really enjoy BTs drop, it's quite fun, and one of the smoothest parts of the ride. But, when we hit the bottom, everything changed. the transition, from the naked drop to the unbanked half loop really caught me off guard, and i bumped my head on the restraints heavily. this caused me to loosen up a bit. Big mistake... The rollover simply beat the crap out of me. first, it throws you out of your seat, becouse of the weight of the train pulling back, than there's this very brief moment of hangtime, which caused me to float out of the seat, and right after that, BANG, slam to the right, than to the left, to the right again, and again to the left. Since i didn't really hold on very good, it threw me around like a rag doll. Than next, the moment when you go down the other half loop, when the train slows down becouse of the other half pulling back again, and again, you fly out of your seat, but in a not fun, non-airtime kind of way. Than, slam, back into the seat, some headbanging, and than my favourite part of the SLC: that high banked turn, into that sidewinder. It wasn't that bad, but the next part totally made up for it. SLAM! The transition on top of the sidewinder was just horrible. If you're looking at a train going through that inversion, from the path besides the coaster, you can clearly see it slam to the side... Anyway, Than came that helix, which i don't really remember, and after that, those rolls, which I don't really mind usually, actually, I find them quite fun. But this time they beat me up in a similar fashion, than the rollover. The next turn was quite normal, didn't really bother me. The helix after that is one of the more enjoyable elements on that coaster. but I didn't really have the chance to enjoy it this time, I was in too much pain. the entrance to the brakes threw me around a bit more, and than the brakes stopped really brutally. Untill than I didn't really feel the whole amount of pain, but than it started coming to me. My head hurt like hell, Icouldn't feel my ears (i mean, I didn't feel my hands on them, when I touched them), my neck was killing me, as was my back. And to top everything off, I couldn't find my shoes when I came back to the station... (I put the off, so they wouldn't fall off during the ride) After asking the ride OP lady, I found out she threw the out of the station, becouse I supposedly wasn't allowed to leave normal shoes in the shelves. She said i could only leave sandals and slippers there. later I found them on the exit ramp, outside the station... When i came out of the gates, I didn't even bother to go see my onride picture, I just lyed down on a bench, and lay there for like 45 minutes, untill I was ready to walk around the park again... I'm sorry for the long reply, but i really do hate that experience very passionately... Also, this is coming from a guy, who finds Volare, Boomerang (prater), Sierra Tonante, Magic Mountain and Sequoia Adventure funa and pleasant... -

The awesomeness of this ride should be measured in megatons... At least that's how it looks... -

I guess you are right... But, still, dropping vertically doesn't reduce the lats... Also, if airtime occured there, the train would probably be going pretty fast. And judging by the rest of the layout it is will be passing the MCB with a pretty high speed... But, i don't think the lat's will be extreme, just a bit higher than the rest of the layout... Except the heartline roll, that should have pretty high lats too... -

The leadin and leadout into the breaks just look ridiculous... I mean, everything just looks like it was shaped very carefully, and those leads just seem like something you'd see on a Vekoma, or maybe a EF... Awesome theming tho! -

Urgh, they certainly are taking their time, aren't they... But, i can see this being open in June... The installation should proceed quite fast, once they start. Look how fast Diamondback is proceeding, and that coaster is much larger, plus iSpeed will be built on even ground... -

Boomerangs pull 5.2 Gs... Anyway, why all the fuss? The Prater Boomerang is proof, that with new trains, thos rides can be very enjoyable! But, you'll still have OTSRs, so we'll see... -
I'm currently reading the curious incident of the Dog in the Nighttime... A great book, but I don't really have much time to read right now, so this might take a while... Also, i'm waiting for the Slovenian version of "A Clash of Kings", by George R. R. Martin... I also recommend reading the Bartimaeus Trilogy, by Johnathan Stroud! My favourite books ever, especially the last one, Ptolemy's gate! What a brilliant ending! lol And Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I mostly read fantasy stuff, as you can see...
-
I'm most excited about HP6, but I'll also watch Angels and Demons, which is after my 2nd favourite book ever, lol, the Ice Age, Transformers and X-Men... That's from the ones above, but from all of them, I'm the most excited about Amulet of Samarkand...

Actually, it goes from 0 to 27.7 mps, in 1.4 sec. That means 19.8412 m/s^2... And that's precisely 2.02G, if you take that Earth's gravity is 9.8 m/s^2 -

Worst Coaster Ever?
Vid_w replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
lol Some people say SLCs, Boomerangs, Volares and Sierra Tonante are the worst coasters they've been on... I actually have been on all these tyopes of coasters: -SLC(+) - Blue Tornado: usually hurts my ears a bit, sometimes not even that... I had one ride when it really hurt my head tho, and it hurt for like 2 hours... -Boomerang - Boomerang (Wiener Prater) This ride was actually really fun! I rode it 3 times, and if the price wasn't 5€, I'd ride it even more! But this one's probably way better than the others, becouse of the new OTSR-less trains... -Volare - Volare (prater): Again, a bit modified, not the classic model. I found this ride really enjoyable in the midle seats, it was a bit rough on the outer seats, but nothing really bad. -Sierra Tonante: lol, this ride was really fun IMO! It is my first and only woody, so i can't really compare it to anything, but I really did like the overall experience! Loved the layout, especially the swooping spiral, that element was nuts! I once even got some air on the last bunnyhop in the last seat! I have no idea how this can be some people's least favourite coaster... Now for a really bad coaster: Super 8erbahn at Prater... Man, oh man, that ride sucked! It hurt like hell, and was boring. I never want to ride it again. Plus, it's extremely ugly... http://rcdb.com/ig1095.htm -

Layout looks awesome! Lot's of airtime, and cool twists! A couple of things I noticed: -the drop of the tophat turns like 135*. I don't think any other vertical drop does that... -The corkscrew looks like it could kill, judging by the speed at which the train travels through it... -The immelman is more like the second half of a norwegian loop! Yay! -do I spot a trim brake before the immelman? -2 barrelrolls. Yay! -It's the first ever rocket to feature a MCBR. And by the lenghth of the MCBR I would say that it's going to be running 3 car trains. Also, this will enable 3 train operation. Yay! -The ending brake is curved, like on Stealth and KK... So far I love the layout! Can't wait to see what the final product will be like! -
