  1. Eey Robb, I had a fun time joining you this afternoon in Toverland. But I heard you say at one point, that next time at Toverland you want to ERT on some more rides then Booster Bike an Troy. Not everyone was for example able to do the fantastic "survival course". Here's a tip. Just spend one whole day at Toverland. Be there at 10 am till 6 pm. The park is never very crowded, so you won't need ERT and the whole day is cheaper as well. I mean, 2,5 hours in the park and 1 hour of ERT on their two mayor rides really was too short to explore the park properly. But, if you come back to some parks in the neighbourhood, I will join you again. Great organization, keep it up!
  2. Nice photo's of one of the best themed theme parks in Europe. That Talocan looks insane! How was the ride sensation? Did you get wet? An did you ge roasted (a little bit)? Looks like some phantastic effects to improve those ordinary top spins! Too bad it was still not open when I was there early may. I have to check it out soon!
  3. Why is this thread so popular!? It's just a list of parks. Believe me, hardly anyone reads this or takes the effort to scroll through all those pages.
  4. You can take your hobby's a little bit too far. This guy is just nuts.
  5. That little boast with the splash is like the most awesome water ride ever! I went on one of them in Skyline Park, another fun little Park in the south of Germany. I couldn't get enough of that ride. That coaster in Klotten seems pretty cool. Anyone knows if it is comparable to the mouse coaster in Grona Lund (Stockholm, Sweden)?
  6. My favorite flat ride is the indoor breakdance at Grona Lund, Stockholm, Sweden. That thing gyrates to some fine R&B music. Amazing what twinkly lights and music can do to a ride. Most parks underestimate that effect and don't play music at all around their rides.
  7. What's the big deal here?!? Why do you want to lumb this either into the category "inversion" or "not an inversion"? It's is an inline twist in a flying coaster. PERIOD.
  8. What is Heide Park building over here (see pictures, taken on the 16th of june, 2007)? It is the area behind Scream Tower (103 m tall gyro drop) and The Limit (Vekoma SLC). They could have unthawed their plans for building a 100+m tall Intamin Mega Coaster. Seriously. Probably an expansion of their Holiday/camping park, some new bungalows ore something. But if there is a park in Europe to build something REALLY BIG, it will be Heide Park.
  9. Some succesfull parks over here in Europe: Europapark, Port Aventura, Efteling, Phantasialand, ... They all focus on being a family park and it works out. Those park draw massive crowds, and all leaving the park with a smile. And those parks have been around quite some time. Has the Six Flags management been sleeping? Quite obvious that family parks (with every now and then a highly themed thrill) are the way to go. I'm surprised that it has taken until 2007 for Six Flags to realize that they should keep all age groups happy in a theme park.
  10. Big Thunder Mountain is also a Vekoma dude. Yeah, yeah, Vekoma does make pretty descent rides, some fine expamples in DLR Paris. Too bad their SLC's, boomerangs and old looping coasters ruin their reputation.
  11. Dude, that was an awesome talk-through. I especially loved these (^^) parts of the ride. Troy is Insane, wicked, twisted, but also comfortable and smooth. But, as you said, it has a variety of elements, laterals, positives and floaters, which makes it an amazing ride, over and over again. At the pre-opening I spoke to Clair Hains, director of GCI. It was really amusing talking to this guy who is so enthousiastic about his work. At the end he told me that his coasters could make a corksrew and that he was willing to try and build it. He said that he was waiting for a park who dares to try an inversion in a woody. Keep on going GCI! Troy is my new #1 coaster.
  12. Port Aventura looks beautiful. But, from what I can tell from the Furius Baco POV, Furius Baco looks a bit dissapointing. I expected Furius Baco to speed throug more caves/tunnels and I expected more "ground effects". It seems like it's just travelling at constant speed at an awkward height over the ground. But, that launch must be very good. Forceful, but not too forcefull (so the launch takes a relatively long time) . And after the launch there is this dip. Must be a cool effect: sqeezed back in your chair and then a bit of airtime. Isn't it guys?
  13. ^^Well Loefet, Kwasten is the smoothest ride EVER! Seriously, it Beats all B&M's and Intamin woodies I've ridden.
  14. Well, there are probably four Coasters around here you will find awesome, considering your original post. Colossos @ Heide Park Expedeition GeForce @ Holiday Park Silver Star @ Europapark Goliath @ Walibi World You can call them all sort of out and back designs, except for EGF. If you want to change your mind about twisters. Toverland in the Netherlands has GCI woodie Troy. That is THE wooden coaster coaster fans should g for this year! Those five parks can be visited in six days, with a efficient planning that is. Even by public transport.
  15. Quite a fun park, but mainly because of their new for 2007 launched X-car coaster. The mouse coaster over there is also a lot of fun! Don't you prefer Toverland? That new GCI woody is my favourite ride, ever. And Booster Bike of course.
  16. I rode it today! It's fast, it's insane, it's smooth,'it's very well themed and it has a lot of sudden twists, hops and dips. Troy is my new #1 roller coaster.
  17. Well, spain not being a "theme park contry" is probably true. But people getting so enthousiastic about a ride is always nice to see. I saw the same thing a couple of weeks ago in Germany with Heide Park's new rocket coaster. The general public was totally enthousiastic about Desert Race. Most of them have never seen a roller coaster train accelarating horizontally, instead of thundering down a hill. What do you mean about Superman / La attracione de Acero? Do you mean that Spanish park mechanics don't maintain their rides properly? I've been on that coaster. It was very smooth, nothing wron with it. It only could have used some theming, it's just standing there in the desert. When I was at PWM I encountered terrible weather (24th of may, it was even on the dutch news that the weather hasn't been that terrible since a long time in Madrid). I couldn't focus too much on the ride itself, because I had a hard time dealing with the rain drops at 100 kph.
  18. I have only been on the new trains, since I visited the park this year for the first time. And I love that Stamida. At night, when the locals come to the park there is a real good atmosphere in Port Aventura. Especially around Stampida. Everybody was cheering and clapping their hands when the trains left (and halve of the people were when the train rolled back in the station). I did Stampida like 6 times tthat eveninng. That one ride on the red train, back seat was magical. Yes, stampida is rough, but it's not painful. That roughnes adds to the speed sensation. What is this new Intamin thing that woodíes suddenly need to be B&M smoothish? Rough and noisy is pretty cool, as long as there are no over the shoulder restraints.
  19. I remember that Eftling in the Netherlands used to charge 1 euro for a park map. That was a nice high quality map, printed on thick paper and I know people who still use last years map (or even the year before, not sure). But all parks should provide a simple "throw away" map for free.
  20. Oh man, you're going to have so much fun there. Smart choice to stay for over two days at Port Aventura. With all their rides, spectacular roller coasters and beautiful shows, you will need two days at least. REMEMBER: Stampida - red train - back seat - at night. That'll definetely beat Balder!
  21. Here’s a litlle ride report on Formule X: The coaster is very smooth and it hardly makes any noice. The lap bars are the same as other Maurer Sohne X-car’s. Some hate them, others are quite tolerant for them. You are strapped in only like 40 seconds and there is no ultra-long-hangtime, so not too much lap bar misery for anybody here. I loved this little coaster. Especially those new inversions. Formule X did not disappoint me like Skywheel, Geforce and Abismo did. Maurer Sohne made a good choice to go to single car and launched X-car coasters. Here are some pics with some comments. In the back you see the final turnaround. Not the best finale ever. Nice little coaster. Best X-car coaster in Europe. Equally as much fun as Kanonen at Liseberg. Hang time This is a fantastic new inversion. It’s like halve a corkscrew and halve an inline twist. Both in the same direction. Anyone has any idea for a name for this new element? There’s some fine airtime on this bunny hop. Then a Horseshoe. Quite a weird – but fun, and above all original – inversion. The launch: 0-70 kph in 2 seconds. Comparable to lovely little kanonen at Liseberg. Formule X has a “rolling start” though. See that first loop? It’s stretched in the left to right direction.
  22. People my age should visit musea, look at beautiful old buildings or enjoy an amazing landscape and go "Ooh, aahh!". And of course, I enjoy that too. But most people don't really understand how a 26 year old can still be entertained by amusement park rides and shows. I have the idea that some people think it is kind of an inferior hobby to watching paintings in musea.
  23. Nice little TR from a park with some fine roller coasters. Do you really prefer Nemesis Inferno over Nemesis? I can't give you any technical feedback on your photo's, since I'm not that much of a photographer myself. I do agree with you that some people on this website make it look easy to capture all their rides. And yep, Thorpe was expensive. Last year I paid 28 pounds for an entry ticket and another 7 pounds for a fast pass. Charging extra money for a park map...? That's a rip off. Shame on you THorpe!
  24. Looks like an awesome coaster. It's the only european B&M I didn't rode. Just curious: you say this is the #1 B&M inverted... Have you been on Black Mamba? Or Nemesis?
  25. I think the one near the scream tower is the biggest, longest and has the tallest drop. That's the log flume with the mine theme. I gues that is number two, not sure. I love that log flume. At the end of the ride you have kinda forgotten that huge first lift hill and suddenly there is that final drop. Sorry, can't give you a POV.
