  1. In the Netherland april and may are the months for school trips. Didn´t you see all them busses on the parking lot? They were all filled to the brim with annoying little kiddies. When you visited the park in August, you probably encountered an entirely different crowd.
  2. A lot of new coasters in Europe this year. I'm going to ride most of them this year, including this one.
  3. Nice to see those two parks again. My parents used to take me to these two parks when I was little. One year Hellndoorn, the other year Slagharen. My roller coaster addiction started on Hellendoorn's Tornado. I see that both parks have done some theming over the years, that's nice. Last year I visited Slagharen for the first time in years. The park looked a little crappy to me, but I enjoyed it. I like the "Droomboot" (dreamboat). That's a huge ship which makes loopings and stops upside down. The ride makes such a nice noise, you should hear it! This year I'm going to pay Hellendoorn a visit!
  4. Terrible park, I agree with Toffeeman. G-Force: To short, that "bent cuban eight" thingy is a teriible element. X-cars have very low capicity. It was our first ride, but we didn't bother queuing for it again. Shockwave: Terrible drop, uninspired track layout and that "Standing in the trains" doesn't add something special to the ride. Apocalypse was good. Maelstrom was good. The park looks terrible. Ugly steel fences, graffiti and awful theming. On top of that: queu jumpers and ineffecient staff.
  5. I'm there from may 15 to 22 (that's still spring, isn't it?). Hopefully it's open then.
  6. This spring I'm going for one week to Salou. With my mebership of Efteling I can also go in and out Port Aventura as often as I like. One week hanging up side down in Dragon Khan and Furious Baco... I can't wait!
  7. Heide Park should also do something about their marketing. My whole life I'm living within a radius of 200 miles from the park, but I know of it's existence since I checked RCDB two years ago. The general public knows nothing of Heide Park and the second tallest/fastest woody in the world and the tallest gyrodrop tower in the world. They really do something wrong with their advertising.
  8. Indeed coaster05, there are a lot of Goliaths, but only one EGF. These coasters can be compared, why not? Approximately the same hight, speed and length (I didn't feel the differences in speed and hight, I only knew the differences from RCDB). One has a steeper (but shorter!) drop with a twist, the other has more positive G's, etc... But differences are small. The coasters are 400 miles apart from each other, so there is a big chance that TPR coasterfans who have done Goliath, also rode EGF. Yes Nemesisflyer, ideal conditions for a comparison.
  9. I've always said that a world record holder would come to Europe, sooner or later. Hope this rumor is true. It's only a three hour drive from my place to Heide-Park.
  10. B&M Hypercoaster (Silverstar). When you fool the employees - that is when they can't push the bars down to the max - you really float in your seat on the hills. No seatbelts (I hate the extra seatbelts in Intamin Megacoasters, so unnescacary).
  11. Oh Yeah, "De Vliegende Hollander" (The Flying Dutchman) will open the first of april (no joke btw). I'v seen the ride last year when it was almost finished. DVH is not very high, not very fast and it doesn't look very spectacular. But that typical "Fairytale-Efteling-atmosphere" surrounds the ride: and that's what makes all the rides at Efteling amusement park amazing. This is going to be a fantastic ride for coasterlovers who appreciate theming, design, a good story and atmosphere.
  12. Oh yeah, that one was a painful experience. I thought that was more like a turn then a twist though. The EGF twist is way smoother. I think that the EGF first drop is quite short as well. After the twist the train immediately has to travel to an upright position again, otherwise the positive G-forces at the bottom of the hill are getting to heavy. This is a general problem with very steep drops (Oblivion tackles this problem by using very short trains and in Deja Vu or Stuntfall the trains are already in vertical position at the start of the free fall).
  13. Just curious what you coaster lovers have to say about these two coasters. This spring I'm going to spain and I can't wait to ride these two awesome looking giant B&M Looping coasters. Does that floorless concept of Superman really makes the ride more special? How's the theming around Dragon Khan? Are those helices in Superman Froceful? Do the brakes in front of the second looping in Dragon Khan spoil the ride? is an Immelman better than a dive loop? ...
  14. Well, the brakes don't really kill the ride. And Expedition Geforce is still one of my favourite coasters. Perhaps I'm to critical, that must be it. But I don't understand WHY intamin put brakes in this coaster. It's not like in Silverstar or Dragon Khan where the block brakes make it possible to put a third train on the tracks. Those brakes increase the rides capacity, that's useful. I can only think of a design error. Most intamin coasters don't have brakes.
  15. Wow, Goliath received 10 out of 26 votes. I thought I was the only one who prefers Goliath. But EGF lovers, one question remains.... What do you think of the two sets of brakes in the middle of the track (after the last horseshoe)? Do you think: "Wow! Brakes in roller coaster!"? Why are the brakes there anyway? Is it a design error by intamin?
  16. Yes, EGF has more airtime (2 x camelbach, 4 x bunnyhop) then'Goliaht (1 x camelback, 3x bunnyhop). But EFG hasn't got any high speeld turns close to the ground (positive G's). And why brakes in EGF...?
  17. Which one of the two Intamin AG megacoasters in Europe is the best? Goliath or Expedition Geforce? Goliath (Walibi World, Netherlands): + Amazing how the speed remains high, while the coaster travels a lot of time at high speeds close to the ground. + That Stengel dive is a really unique and cool element + I like them forceful horizontal loops! - Walibi World should repaint their coasters every once in a while - A little bit of theming can do wonders to a ride, Goliath is just standing there in the middle of nowhere! Expedtion Geforce (Holiday Park, Germany) + Nice surroundings, impressive structure and simple-but-OK-theming + I like the horseshoes + Lots of airtime! Oh Yeah! - I don't like the twist in the drop. I prefer a straight drop. - Why put brakes in a ROLLER coaster???!!! The very reason why Goliath wins! (please, someone, tell me!?) - The rollercoaster bleeds to death when you come to the end - the rabbit hops are getting lower and lower and I miss the forceful turn at the end. Goliath wins.
  18. Best themed B&M coaster: Beyond any doubt: Black Mamba Worst themed B&M: Hard to say, the ones I've been on were al pretty good (Nemesis, Air, Oblivion, Newmesis Inferno) This Year Í'm going for Dragon Khan, Superman (madrid), Batman (Madrid) and Daemonen (Tivoli, Copenhagen)
