What area really needs a theme park?
julioot replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm in the process of planning a trip to berlin for work. This area could use a nice park aswell. -
^Im sorry, i missed the post on vertigo. I'm not sure I'd put Vertigo in the same category as SoB, Gwazi, or Drachen Fire. I'm not sure most people that visit the park even knew the ride existed. There have been a lot of ride "fails", but not many MAJOR fails. I'd most certainly put Hypersonic on that list, though. And if you're gonna go back that far, I'd put the The Bat on it, too. I agree, the hype around this ride was no where as big. But the general public did know about this ride. They did a big media thing for this ride when it opened and when it was anounced. There was a lot of news coverage about the rides bad reputation and its demolishing. And offcourse, it was pretty hard to miss anyway being the eyesore that it was. It did stay in the park for 2 seasons.

Bell's Amusement Park Rebuild
julioot replied to jabelltulsa's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What is that Eli Bridge - Storm Damage ride? It looks so messed up. -
It says in the artical that he himself offerd to buy a new shirt in the park. Security refused according to the artical. I'm not sure what to make of this. I can see a tiny problem with people wearing these kinds of shirts. But lets be real, there isnt any. Lots of people where these kinds of shirts or very simular ones. If its no problem on the street, in the store then it should not be a problem in a themepark. Still some props to universal, if you're going to set up a rule, enforce it! Just make sure the rule you are setting is up is actually needed.

Vekoma Roller Coasters
julioot replied to kingdakacor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually like most Vekoma rides. Slc's. No they are not the most pleasent rides at times. However for the most part, I think a normal woody gives you a bigger rumble than a SLC. Besides the layout is really fun. I don't like the normal boomerangs that much. But with the new trains vekoma offers, its a pretty decent ride. Mine trains are just a lot of fun. And GIBS and flyers.. I think we can all agree these are awesome rides. I just really hope Vekoma can put something new on the market that actually works. -

TPR's 2013 Japan Trip - Mini Updates!
julioot replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Love the updates! How is it that most parks look to be deserted on your Asian trips? Is it because you try to plan the trips on slow days, or are the parks really that empty all the time? -

Wow that mack twist and splash is one ugly looking ride. This one might even be uglyer then the one in Slagharen (Netherlands). -

Personally I don't see what the fuzz is about either. But is this really such bad press? I don't really see this harming the number of visitors they'll welcome this year. If they actually had a discussion show dedicated to this subject, im sure they had a lot more press time than they would have with a normal campaign. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
julioot replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe they now use a different set of wheels (harder/softer) wich increases the speed. And they therefor had to slow down the lift speed? -
Hoping your kid turns out a certain way is always asking for trouble. I can totally see how you would love to ride roller coasters with your kid. And dont worry, most kids are pretty keen on themeparks anyway. If your kid turns out to hate roller coasters, find something else to enjoy with him. Because dragging them along with you on a coaster they are scared of will turn them into roller coaster haters. And no one likes a hater

Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
julioot replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
This is a though one. Since smoke doesnt belong in a kids and family friendly zone, you would expect this to be a nobrainer. But first of all... Most themeparks are outdoors. In an outdoor enviroment the problem isn't as big. Non smokers won't have to sit in a smoke filled room for hours. They might smell the smoke though. On the other hand, you will also smell sweets, foods, swet and so on. There will be things that bother you through out your life. Accept that. Therefor I think, smoking zones are a perfect solution. Aslong as people are willing to use them ofcourse. Don't get to sensitive for the smell of smoke. Smelling a smoker wont get you a terrible disease! And if you have a big personal problem with smokers. You know where to find this smoking area's, so simply stay away from them. I gues the point im trying to make is: acceptence works both ways. Smokers will have to accept their habbit is harming and anti social behavior. Non smokers will have to accept that they can't enforce people to live by their standards of health and behavior. -
Efteling Discussion Thread
julioot replied to Pepper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How didnt I find the thread before? Anyway... This week the city of Kaatsheuvel agreed to change policies on the empte land owned by the Efteling. No plans are yet revealed and both the park and the city have said no future expansion will be expected within the next few years. Still the news is exciting since the empty lot is pretty massive. Red = Efteling Yellow = extra parking Blue = holiday park Green = possible expansion Purple = golf course -

I guess there aren't to many big loopers of Vekoma in europe (anymore?). And a GREAT layout might be pushing it... But I guess if the ride wasnt so rough, it would be a pretty fun ride. Personally I think the same of SLC's. -

I think cedar points chaos has been removed after the 2010 season. I remember I found out it was there, while the park was already closing. Wich is extremly painfull to me since I love those rides. Shamefully they all seemed to have some technical issue's and experienced a lot of down time. I still hope this ride get "addopted" by a new manufacturer. -

Awesome news! The coaster layout itself is pretty sweet if you ask me. And hopefully with the retracking the experience will be a lot better. New trains would be a great idea aswell!
