  1. Where do I start? At Busch Gardens, Alpengeist and Apollo's Chariot I thought were decent rides but nothing too spectacular because it felt as though they didn't really do anything. The first drops on both were great but after that they just meandered through the remainder of the course. PKD - Volcano was kinda lame after the launch out of the volcano and Hypersonic again after the launch was just terrible. PKI - Son of Beast I wish would just burn to the ground. Beast was nothing too spectacular either. In fact, except for Rebel Yell, all Paramount woodies should just be torn down. There are plenty of others which I can gather from my recent road trip but it would be a very long list.
  2. Amen to that! Favorites: B&M roars The sound of the brakes opening on Premier LIM launch coasters and the subsequent launching sounds Terrible sounds: Hypersonic's brakes.
  3. I rode it 3rd row about two hours after it had opened. Not waiting sweetened the deal though!
  4. I also rode El Toro last week and absolutely loved it. I'll need to ride it and S:RoS again in close succession to decide which of the two is better. Thanks to the ejector air on El Toro though, it has now become my favorite coaster at Great Adventure. However, I rode the Voyage a little over a week before riding El Toro and I can't help but place Voyage over El Toro. Both rides gave me a sense of euphoria and a natural high but Voyage just blasted that feeling to 11 whereas Toro left me begging for just one more hill or one more element to push it past 10. If only Six Flags didn't care so much for safety and ordered trains with buzz bars like they have on the Phoenix. I feared for my life and the lives of everyone on the trains when riding Phoenix, especially those who just barely made the 42" height requirement. For wood right now, I have Voyage, Phoenix, and El Toro at the top, in that order. Phoenix is #2 just because it was insane ejector air without any safety whatsoever. We'll see if El Toro can give me an even better ride the next time I go.
  5. At $5 a ride, the Cyclone is not much of a re-ride.
  6. I've been on: Medusa (SFGAdv) Hydra: The Revenge (DP) Batman: The Dark Knight (SFNE) Dominator (Geauga Lake) Medusa has some great forces, tons of airtime, a great roar, and a smooth ride. Hydra after the first drop, sucked. It felt like it just wasn't doing anything and was very prone to breakdowns. Batman: TDK was a fun ride with good forces. I only rode it once and my first impression was that it was a decent ride. I'll have to get back to SFNE this summer to ride it some more. Dominator was rough as heck, interesting layout, but not well maintained. The corkscrews and turns near the end of the ride really hurt. Also, the floors on Dominator were set on turbo or something because they shot up as soon as the train stopped. All the other floorless coasters gently lift them up. So if you haven't been able to figure out which I like the most yet, its Medusa.
  7. I've stayed briefly in both Louisville (on my recent Coaster Road Trip) and in Charlotte (at my cousin's apartment). Louisville, even on a Saturday evening, seemed dead. The waterfront area was nice but also deserted. Everywhere I looked there were boarded up shops and deserted police stations. There was only one "hip" location and you needed to be 21 to even enter the street. Also, when I turned on the TV in the hotel, there were at least 5 stories about shootings or stabbings in the area. Charlotte, IMO has a much more cohesive city area as well as nice suburban regions. There are plenty of apartment complexes in the outerlying areas of Charlotte as well as plenty of restaurants in the city as well as outside the city for you to wait tables. North Carolina also seems like a much better place to be. After having lived in Chapel Hill for the past year (college), it really is a great area to live in. Trips to major cities aren't too far (DC in 5 or 6 hours, New York in 12). Very good location. If it were me, I would make the move to Charlotte. Either way, good luck.
  8. I am rooting for the Czechs to win! Of course, since my country (Colombia) is not in the World Cup (thanks to Argentina still being bitter about us having spanked them 5-0 over 5 years ago) I really just want to watch some great games, with great plays, passes, and goals. Today's Germany - Poland game is a prime example. Definitely the best game I've watched so far. Tied for the whole game with plenty of chances to score for both squads and then a 91st minute goal for the Germans wins it. I felt bad for the Polish goalie because he was incredible for so long and then a breakdown of the defense led to a goal.
  9. All I can say is that my information came straight from a park employee that responded to the accident.
  10. A little birdie told me that the last car on Robin actually detached from the rest of the train and bounced back and forth. The two pieces continuously smacked each other and in the end 3 people were sent to the hospital. It was definitely more serious than people know it to be.
  11. Flight of Fear at PKI was down yesterday for the time that I was there (10 AM to 8 PM) and I dont think it was going to open. Hopefully this rumor isn't true because I want to ride at least one of the Flight of Fears.
  12. Oh man, they better have Millenium Force open by next week when I get there otherwise it will put a HUGE damper on my road trip, especially since we paid for two nights at Cedar Point.
  13. I've seen this in many Six Flags parks. They all say "Lost Parents." I never got it either...
  14. Friday - Dorney Park Saturday - Knoebels Sunday - Hershey Park Monday - Kennywood Park The start of a 15 day road trip.
  15. Oh. Em. Eff. Gee. Wow. That ride did not let up...EVER. Only about a month to go before my ride. Roller Coaster Road Trip 2006!
  16. ^ "No, no, no. This tire hunted Mary down. This tire murdered Mary." "There can be only one highlander!"
  17. Wow, just wow. If that's not the most intolerable statement ever made, I dont know what is. I can give you the English only law, because many are pushing for it, but that second statement is just wrong. In any case: Age Bracket: 15-25 Sex: Male Area of U.S.: North East 1. What do you feel is the most important issue in the U.S. today? Terrorism 2. Do you think taxes are: Too high for the wrong people 3. If you won $1 million, what would you definitely do? All of the above plus travel in said car 4. How would you rate George W. Bush's performance as President? 2 5. Do you think Osama bin Laden is: Hiding in a cave 6. If raising taxes would solve the U.S.'s economic difficulties, would you say: I don't believe that 7. If you could accomplish it, what law would you pass that has not yet been enacted? Affordable healthcare for everyone. 8. What has been the biggest historical event of your lifetime? September 11th (seeing as how I was three blocks away when it happened) 9. Who has been the most important person of your lifetime so far? Osama bin Laden 10. What new advances in technology do you think will take place in the next 10 years? Hydrogen powered cars, lifelike video games
  18. UNC just lost to George Mason. Tis a sad sad day. At least the senior David Noel played a great game. Mason did a good job of shutting Tyler Hansbrough down. My bracket has been officially wrecked. As of this moment, I can only successfully get 41 out of 63 games correct.
  19. How bout that Albany team! They stuck with the Huskies for the longest time, tis a shame they fell short when it counted. MSU losing, I was not a fan of. Neither were the losses of Kansas and Kentucky (Kansas was in the final four of three ESPN bigwigs). UNC pulled off an unnecessarily close game against Murray State. If they decide to play and Tyler gets some help from his teammates, then they can take George Mason, no problem, as well as the Volunteers from Tennessee (assuming they beat the Wichita State Shockers) and take it to the Elite Eight. From there, its a tossup as to making it to the Final Four. I believe though!
  20. Syracuse wrecked my bracket as I had them in the final. Doing very poorly. On Facebook I have 18 points as well as on Yahoo. I have 190 points on ESPN. Bad, very bad. Still rooting for North Carolina to win the whole tourney. Let's Go Tar HEELS!!!
  21. That was the most repulsive thing I have ever seen. I hate snakes so much. I think I'm going to have nightmares now.
  22. Interesting choice of beer Sören. I tried that while I was in Madrid two years ago and I was undecided between that and the Coronitas. I do like how it has tequila in it though. Good luck at Disney World, it really is a magical place and may Elissa bring you some hair while you are down there
  23. He's kinda got that "you point that camera at me for two more seconds and I am going to break all of your fingers off and then pistol whip you unless you give me valuable information about the disapperance of my daughter" look.
  24. The park employees need to shape up as well. When I went last summer, there were employees sitting in the coaster and pulling the restraint down over them. Employees being on the queue side of the air gates and the ride op closing the airgates. It was absolutely AWFUL. The maintenance guy who came up to Superman on an ATV from over the hills looked as if he was just smoking some MJ. I think that is what needs to improve most of all.
