  1. Seems like Keith McVeen has done most of them lately. (3d Studio Max) http://badnitrus.coasterbuzz.com/
  2. According to John Fettermans Speech this weekend at Knoebels, it is still up in the air where this thing will end up. CG is looking more likely however.
  3. Then we forgot this EVIL creation. Photo Credit: Joel Styer Son of Beast
  4. For me, nothing does it quite like the Elevator in the CN Tower (Toronto, Canada) 0 - 1,136 ft in 58 Seconds Pictures from www.necrophagous.co.uk
  5. You can ride the log flume this summer at Idlewild Park. Kennywood has had it in storage.
  6. This Friday was like any other Friday. I got off work and headed home. The biggest difference was when I got home, I met my girlfriend (Catrina), threw a couple of bags into the car and headed up to Elysburg for Knoebels opening weekend. The trip was pretty miserable to Knoebels and consisted of over 5 hours of driving in heavy rain. Once we got there, there wasn't much in our minds but to get a good night's sleep to head to Knoebels first thing Saturday morning. Saturday morning came, and here we are pulling into the parking lot of arguably the greatest old-time park in the world. The forecast was supposed to be horrible with heavy rain and winds attacking us through much of the day, but by the time we walked to the other side of the park we noticed that this might not be entirely accurate. The skies were starting to clear up a little bit, and the mist that had been falling was letting up. After a cup of coffee at the International Food Court, we walked to Pavillion L to pick up our passes and food coupons for the day. The WCFC had been set up since we first arrived, but were now ready to hand out all credentials. The volunteers were very nice and after we got our passes, we went over to the POP booth to get our handstamps. Once we received our handstamps and brightly colored wristbands, we walked over to the flyers where all the loyal flyer crowd was already congregating. At the front of the line was Todd Long and it wasn't much of a suprise that his first ride of the day would also be on the flyers. The first running of the flyers for the day was sort of an all-star event very reminiscent of PPP. All the flyer celebrities were on hand demonstrating their skills and the ride made loud cracks as the pilots soared through the sky. I managed to get a couple decent rides before we headed to the other areas of the park. Catrina had never been to Knoebels, so we decided to do the coasters so she could get the much coveted credits. The Phoenix was running up to it's full potential and the HSTC was a blast. The Twister was also giving very good rides, but I think I got a little spoiled with the brutal laps that were encountered during last year's PPP. After rides on the Carousel, Haunted House, Boats, Scooters and a few other assorted rides, we headed over to the Pavillion for the food meet that was scheduled. Back at the Pavillion, Cesaris and Birch Beer was ready for all to consume, and shortly after the meal our guest speaker got up to address the audience. The speaker was none other than Knoebels' own John Fetterman. He talked about the challenges faced while relocating the Phoenix and talked about how he is using that knowledge to move the Starliner in Florida. After John finished his segment, The WCFC presented Dick Knoebel with a plaque honoring the 20th anniversary of the Phoenix's relocation. Dick got a little sentimental and talked about how his hair was a different color in the press article that the move got. After dinner, we headed out for a few more rides, but cut out right before the ERT. The skies were looking pretty bad, and we figured it was better to walk to the car now than run later. Sunday morning we checked out of the hotel and headed back to Knoebels for a little more fun before our trek back to WV. The temperature was now much colder than the day before and after a handful of rides and an impromtu visit to the magic show, we decided to head home. In all, it was a great visit to Knoebels, and I already miss the flyers. Looks like there might be a couple more visits in line this summer. Right before Floyd the Magician pulls a Houdini and escapes the shackles. A picture of me testing the equipment. Todd attempts to bribe Floyd the Magician. The WCFC presents Dick Knoebel with a plaque honoring The Phoenix. The crowd. John Fetterman addresses the crowd. The Phoenix returns from it's journey. Yaaaay. My first brass ring. Lesson 3: Just Phly baby. Don't fight the wind. Lesson 2: Always dive to the lowest point (no further) Lesson 1: First you got to get it up to speed. Want to know the tricks of the trade ... let me show you.
  7. Looking good. Hopefully they can make it through the season with their "commitment to excellence" approach intact. I would love to see a Six Flags park try to turn itself around and be rewarded for it. It is just the kick in the ass they need. Now, I they would only get rid of that stupid virtual queueing disaster.
  8. If you want a hard time getting into Canada. Do what I did a couple years ago. Florida Plates West Virginia Drivers License Travel Alone Say "I am coming into your country to ride rollercoasters" It took over an hour to get through customs.
  9. Heard it all before. Many many times. I will believe it when I see it. // Hates first generation motion-base simulators
  10. ^ Actually ... Hellevator scares me more than Drop Zone. Something about those low placed brakes on the shorter towers. // Anything called Hellevator is scary to me
  11. Very cool. I was suprised to see that there was some in my hometown. I guess the people around here are more connected than I expected.
  12. That is exactly what they should be doing for a survey. The more random the selection the better.
  13. Wow. That is a cool article. I really like the photos. Hard to believe how much land they have cleared since their opening. My first visit was '86, and I have been back twice. I really wish, though, that their woodies ran to their potential. Minebuster used to be one of the best.

  16. ^ Wow. I remember when that page looked like that. It's been about 4 years. http://web.archive.org/web/20010405035601/http://coasterbuzz.com/
  17. ^^ I too would opt for the Knoebels, Dorney, NJ Shore trip. Throw in J2 along the way and you got one hell of a trip. My next three trips. 4/23-24 -- Knoebles 4/7-8 -- BGW / PKD 5/28-6/1 -- Florida (BGT and something else)
  18. Right off the Three Springs Exit (22) in Weirton, WV is a place called "Dee Jays) and they have the best ribs I have ever had. http://steelvalleyguide.com/Restaurants/deejays.htm
  19. I have a Accord with the 4-banger (VTEC) You will no problem passing anybody.
  20. ^ It kind of suprised me personally. In the end, I just don't think that the younger audience could identify with him at all.
  21. Just had to see what the 420 plate would look like. This is the one I have always wanted TTD 420
  22. ^^ If you don't feel secure without the seatbelt, you would have had an interesting go at it 20+ years ago. Nothing had them, and if they did it was the only thing. I think that the first coaster I rode with a seatbelt (besides Jack Rabbit) was MagnumXL.
  23. ^^ That would be my homepark (Kennywood). You gotta love it. An Intamin 2nd Gen with smokestacks in the background.
  24. They weren't sh**ing when they said it was a scary ride. // Hoping the girls come away ok and with no mental scars
  25. ^ I can see the advertisement now. "Starliner: The best out and back in the State of Florida"
