Im pretty sure the guys at NoLimits got actual data files or at least renderings of the trains because I know the guys personally at NL. Tom who does the modeling is pretty detailed and when I stopped the video of the ride they look exactly like the standard OTSR minus the actual shoulder parts. The picture above minus the straps (as said) should be exactly what they are. Basically, stronger versions of the one on Pilgrims plunge. So basically it has lap bars. -

I dont see why it being a fact is even worthy of being talked about personally. Blue is one of the primary colors egyptians used. It was considered the color of the heavens. Very precious color as well. Obviously Tan is also a primary for a culture in the middle of the freakin desert. I just dont see the point either way. Its thousands of miles away. Its an invert and they chose the Egyptian theme. To be honest, I cant see many other color schemes making sense. Busch Gardens did their homework in that regard by going with blue and tan. It wasnt chosen by random I can almost bet on that... And in keeping with that idealogy, Parc Asterix went the same route. So the whole conversation, for and against is a bit...cant think of a better word but Ill just say - dumb. -

I fail to see how its a problem if its a rip off... If they did say in a meeting "alright guys, what should our next coaster be?" and someone spoke up and mentions Montu and someone says "yea, lets do our own version of this" I really fail to see how its any less in any way. Even creatively. iSpeed and Xcelerator are both top hat, launched coasters to the theme of racing. I can make endless comparisons here. Yea, its VERY similar to Montu. So? Montu is a fantastic ride. This looks like a fantastic ride. I dont care if they used the same sculptures. Its a great theme and so now instead of 1 in the world theres 2. Whoop-dee-doo. -
Kinda funny this topic was no where near the top of my "view your posts" area. Then, as Valentines day gets closer and closer, its risen to the top. Just a funny observation Ive been making.

I like those people too, because they clearly identify themselves as people I don't want to hang out with. Truth.

I love people who watch Top Gear and think its all meant to be serious. Theres definitely a lot of satire in it and you need to watch it as entertainment more than informative. Sure, they do some good reviews from time to time but their bias is also a source of fun. The whole joke on James May being Captain slow and Hamster being small and Jeremy being fat - just meant to be funny and then they play off of it usually on how it applies to their cars. I love the show. One of my faves. I dont care if they hate american cars or not. Sometimes they are right on the money as far as that goes. Other times, not so much. But its just their take on things. I did like how they likened the Subaru WRX to the kind of car that feels like its trying to head to the pub just to get into a fight. To which I completely agree!
-
Completely agree. Ive always wanted a stick but just never did for whatever reason. It does enhance the driving experience. Still not the smoothest or the quickest on the clutch but Ill get there before summer and then Im taking this thing some place I can stretch the suspension a bit and burn up some high octane fuel. Still, while Im sometimes still daunted by that somewhat tricky shift from neutral to 1st (Especially in a WRX...1st is just pure torque and worthless except to do 15mph) but its worth it every time I nail it. Even more so when I nail 2nd to 3rd because by then the turbo is singing and all is well with the world

This is still a bige ride guys. Sure we have some especially huge rides out there in the world but rides 200ft and over arent exactly that common. Only at some of the larger established parks do you see Hyper coasters. Excluding the 2 rare types in Giga and Strata it narrows it dow This thing looks absolutely fantastic. I love the new approach to less supports as well. It has this industrial, rugged look to it. -

Because that the base of the bent itself. Then youll have the angle ledger. I fully believe based on the height of the metal l beams that the banking will be far more than it used to be. Should carry more speed though since that area was very lateral heavy. -
Nice! I like the look of the 2011's headlights more than the 2012's, but you definitely can't go wrong with a WRX! I hope to upgrade to one someday from my 2.5i. I hope you enjoy, they are really fun cars, as I'm sure you know. I have read this several times, I cant find anything significant. I heard something about the trim color of the headlights changing but overall the shape is what I like. The rest of the car is just gorgeous and MY the thing has performance. Im comfortable shifting now and its a blast. My thought is always "wheres the nearest on-ramp..."

Love that a woman runs PETA and then uses a woman's body and exploits it sexually for the PETA cause. Again though, that company has never and will never make sense or be consistent in their approach.

New Car Absolutely geeked. Took a few days to get used to the clutch...but now I drive it with a solid grin across my face. SO freakin fast and fun. Handling is marvelous. BTW yes I did a 180 and went with the WRX. Few reasons: Payment was already going to be in the 300's...for a fairly used car. I loved the new WRX's and they had a bunch of great things done to them in 2011. Bigger engine, better looks (Has the STi body now) better handling, quicker 0-60, etc) and after going to a dealer and crunching the numbers, found out its better in the long run to get this thing brand new than to buy an old car. That and Im glad I went with full manual car. Been a bit of a learning curve...but its hella fun now. Absolutely thrilled with the choice.

We need to do a meet at Cedar Point or someplace and put our photography together. Gorgeous images as usual. Always helps when the subject does so much work for you. Makes our jobs easier just to capture it. Ill look into that Samyang. Thats a great price for that kind of wide angle. -

When I get home I can post a picture that shows the before pretty clearly. I had a chance to take a panorama on a walkback to the very back of the site with Michael Graham. Personally, I dont think its going to alter the ride quality much. You wont dip down and pick up a ton of speed but really you didnt pick up THAT much speed anyways. I think this will make the ride last longer and I have no doubt that the guys at TGG will keep that section as insane and fun as possible. Im betting its banked slightly more since it has a flat trajectory. But glad the outerbanked hill is still there. -

Physics my friend, physics. It'll be a fun element. I have a feeling it'll ride similarly to the turn on Dominator, just much quicker rotation and more speed. The pictures and the POV tell a completely different story but if there's anything that's not positive G it'll be after the rotation and near the downward fall. On Goliath the Stengel Dive is tall and meant to provide 0g at the top of the rotation. It can do this because its at the right height for there to be floater. On this, its carrying so much speed its basically impossible to achieve that with a hill so small. Watching Robs POV from Goliath makes it pretty clear the train loses the right amount of speed to have a weightless effect. This hill is just too small and too low to produce this. I don't see what it matters. I remember Stengel describing that element and its purpose, this doesn't do that. Still, I LOVE the shaping of that overbanked turn. Train is going to haul azz through there. If I wasnt using my vacation days for a trip to Hawaii, a trip involving Hershey and other east coast parks would be in order. AJ - its not even a thingy. Its an overbank, but you may call it a Stingy-dival for all I care. I just know how its going to ride. Unless there are tons of brakes or thruster's mounted throughout the ride, its pretty predictable. In a good way. -

Like how there is no Stengel dive, just an overbanked turn? lol. Stengel dives works on the principal of some airtime, something that turn will not have. Just so were clear! (btw I didn't read or engage during the aforementioned argument that apparently took place - but I thought the same thing - NOT a Stengel) Cant wait to go to Hershey...this looks soooo good. -
I ran HO Trains with my dad growing up. I had a CSX Freight with several coal cars but my faves were the Canadian National Freight engine and the Canadian National Passenger series. Engine, several coach, few sleepers all the way to the end. Good times. Wish I still had time to do stuff like these models.

Comparisons of the Ralliart to the WRX (Since the STi compares to the EVO) put the Ralliart way ahead in just about all areas. Ive never driven any of them so I have no real knowledge. I know I prefer the new body style of the Lancer to any of the Impreza's. The older styles are the better ones but now Im talking cars with either higher mileage or cars that have been tuned to no end. And while that would be great, cheaper car with a lot of hp, you cant be certain even with paperwork that it was done right and the things not going to blow up from all the modifications. I believe Im going with the Ralliart. 500 bucks gets it re-tuned from 237hp to almost 290hp without any changes - just computer settings. If I wanted later I could change the springs for a tighter ride but this also serves to be my daily driver. Ive read that the 09' EVOs and 09' Ralliart share the same AWD system and actually the Ralliart (I think) has more settings on it. Its also been said to be on par or finally better than Subaru's. Before I was debating between the 2 because I didnt know the Ralliart existed. But i can still get above average performance in the body style I was seeking. Its gotta be better than my 1999 Olds Alero that has a laundry list of serious things wrong with it. I may end up donating the car for charity to a church so a mechanic can slowly put it back together and write it off on next years taxes. It seriously will only get me 500 for a trade in (Ive actually tried).
-
Yes, I do! And now while that is still really fast, its on the "slow" end of fast. I think the Ralliart is a tenth or so behind the WRX. Partly because its heavier (far more amenities) but also its slightly undertuned. But nothing about a $500 tune cant fix. You can get equivalent (supposedly) to the Evo X with a tune because the internals of the engine are identical.
-
Thats the problem I have with the Subaru...I hate the new body style. The front end is atrocious. I like the older style for sure, but then Im looking at an old car that will likely need some upkeep unless it was just done to the car. But thats the flip side with the EVO's, I dislike the old style, love the new.

Question for anyone out there who may be able to shed some light... Just was offered a new position at my job, I will not be able to afford a little more "car" than I was planning on. Love when life does that, right? I've always wanted an AWD sedan. So naturally, the Subaru WRX STi and the Lancer EVO's have always peaked my interest. I plan to buy used and don't mind some mileage as long as there's paperwork to show its been taken care of. And if any mods done to it, they were done by someone who knows what they are doing, not some kid in his dads garage cranking the boost in the turbo up. I've just come across the Lancer Ralliart. I've been a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on the full on EVO's and STi's just for fear of the insurance. (Though, I still need to price this out) Question is, are the Ralliart's worth the compromise? From what I'm gathering its the exact same engine as the EVO just tuned down a bit and the turbo isn't as strong. I'm sure you could change all that with some simple upgrades though. Handling is similar, not as stiff thanks to slightly softer anti-roll bars but the price difference is HUGE! I also prefer the new body style to the old. Would the Ralliart be a good choice for someone who wants a daily driver that, with some money, adds performance to run around some autocross and possibly a racetrack? Right now I'm looking at all of them, trying to find the best value and this popped up. Had no clue it had flappy paddle shifter's and all the amenities of the EVO just minus a bit on performance. But it still looks like it "gets up and goes" well and the shifter's look like fun. Plus, my wife has no clue how to drive stick and while its been many years for me, I know I remember. But this would be easier for her to get in if she needed to use it.

So why cant you flange your supports? All it takes is creating a small section of a tube size bigger. Thats how we all did it before someone made a tool to do it. Quite frankly the tools tend to over-produce the flanges anyways. Looks good up till last section, then it seems to lose any inspiration.
