  1. I will gladly marathon it. If I can put up with 30+ rides on Voyage twice this wont be an issue. And I say that absolutely sincerely, it wouldn't bother me. I've taken the neck beating on Maverick for a long time, its not as bad as people make it out to be. Complaining about intense rides being too intense would be counter-intuitive (and hypocritical of me) since those are the rides I long for. Not trying to be a hard ass, I just ignore pain like that. Other things to think about like how awesome it would be. So who wants to get me out of work for a day so I can marathon it? I also need some gas money for the 10hr drive...
  2. Think that was the original plan, not this newly released one with more money for the project. And about the AutoCad bit, I was wondering if it was just an error in the picture, but I was really digging the drastic straight edge transition at the lift hill. LOL I was thinking the same thing. But havent they used NoLimits before to showcase a ride? It would have looked a bit better than that render. Some of those banking transitions were OMFG. haha. Itll be one heck of a ride. Next time I am in Florida after its built Im making a special trip there.
  3. You been on the probably two best coasters in the world in one day? SCREW YOU!! Exactly my sentiments. Im about to start hassling him on facebook over it
  4. That sounds like an amazing dog man, its going to be tough when hes lived his life but I think he will have contributed to your life ten-fold. Everything you said, I either laughed or thought "exactly why I want one". They just seem like an amazing breed. What you described about not wanting to come in when its cold is exactly what my friends dog does. He has to go out into the snow/cold and drag him in. Pretty funny.
  5. How much was yours? Thats my dream dog. Yours sounds like a friend of mines huskie. He spazs for like 20min then hes calm and collected. But beautiful, smart and full of personality. Either way, this place doesnt allow dogs. But i still want some yard for him. Oh and yea, he said during winter he begged to go outside but in the summer hes so hot he stays in. Lol. I can relate. Sounds like me. Screw the 94 degrees this sunday!
  6. Ok. I will take your beautiful flower scape and raise you... ADORABLE KITTENS! These 2 are Storm and DontHaveAnameYet. Storm is the little grey tiger-print female. The orange male - cant find a good name yet. Wife wants Max, I say its too common. But Storm...yea...shes as unpredictable and erratic as a crazy tornado so Storm works. And then her being a female coorelates to the XMen character. She also instigates 90% of the battles they have but he finishes 90% of them. Usually with her screaming till he lets her go. Hes already sizeably larger. I should add, they are now 9 weeks old. Got them Monday night. And for anyone whos going to go the "should have gotten a dog" route, my apartment complex doesnt allow dogs. If they did, we'd have a siberian husky by now. But then Id feel bad because that kind of dog needs a lot of room. Soon as we find a house, thats one of the first additions. Hopefully the cats tolerate him by then, lol.
  7. Theres a couple thousand ponies right there, what are you talking about?
  8. Did you notice the drop actually "pumps" as it starts to descend? Meaning, the radius goes from circular (constant) to wider thsn back to really tight. So the guys in the back are going to get extra negative Gs as the train crests. Its really unique. Pay attention to it.
  9. My wife conned me into agreeing to take these 2. So far, I assume its brother and sister but waiting on brother to be determined yet... But 8 weeks old. They are extremely adorable. Lots of fun. And, litter trained and first shots already taken care of and they were free!
  10. i noticed the same thing... stupid gp Is complaining about the lack of loops really any worse than all the stupid things people have complained about here? Frankly, I think complaining about three tiny trims which barely slow the ride is stupider than complaining that you have a personal preference for inversions. Good, I didnt have to be the one to quote that and mention that very thing. They complain probably less than enthusiasts do because we see things in far more detail. Also with far more criticism. I think the GP complaints pale in comparison to enthusiast complaints. Either way, lift didnt look quite as fast as other videos but then again, still looks absolutely fantastic. Also, is it just me, but I think this was shot on a GoPro. I notice a weird warping effect in the video and I only notice it so far with roller coaster POV's being shot with GoPro's. Im wondering if its the vibrations and how the camera handles it. Its evident on here.
  11. yea I stole it from someone on my local SCCA forums. I had to, it cracks me up each time I see it. My wife is so awesome, shes letting me get into autocross this year. I go tomorrow to take a "Autocross School" which coupled with my years and years of sim racing and reading racing books, etc - should give me a great primer to go out there and rip it up. If I can manage a set of rims and some AutoX tires while still getting us a house in a year - then shes the bestest ever. (well she is, but just saying )
  12. Its because the read out used to get that -2 wasnt realistic. I suspect, like a few others who are engineers I talk to, that it was simply a spike. I would only trust the g forces if Intamin released them. There's too many variables in using any sort of meter attached to the train. The slightest jolt can cause a serious spike. Im not betting this is over -1.6 or so, probably right about the same as El Toro's small hill.
  13. The colors are not based on real life limits. Just a general scale. Because if thats the case, I think you hit red at about 5 positive G's - which we know several rides that hit that today and a few that hit over 6. Dont trust those colors, its not realistic to real life. You can change those colors anyways, which is what I did to reflect real life limits. Also, I doubt those trims will do much to the ride experience as a whole.
  14. For me, going to the parks isn't as fun without someone. So if I'm spending the rest of my life with that person, I knew they had to love roller coasters. Shes not a nerd about it and she definitely has different taste in rides but she loves to go to the parks with me. Just made the decision all that much easier
  15. Loving roller coasters was a prerequisite for me. My wife calls it nerdy, but shes always up (and sometimes asking when we are going to the parks next) for coasters. Once I found that out, that was one major hurdle that was behind me
  16. Reference to autocross racing. Which I am getting into this year.
  17. Whats this park like on memorial day weekend? How are Ravine Flyers lines?
  18. Bingo! My wife and I were able to enjoy Kings Island absolutely stress free. And while we did still get some sun to our skin, I know we spent WAY less time in the sun than had we not had the FastLane.
  19. ^This FTW. It just doesnt do anything. It goes quickly through the woods. What makes me sad is looking at rides like Voyage, Boulder Dash and what they did with the terrain and I look at the MASSIVE area that Beast takes up and imagine "What if?". Then I get sad. lol. Although your point is valid, keep in mind that the Beast is much, much older than Voyage or Boulder Dash. It's definately gotten worse over the years, but it's been around for a while, which is a disadvantage for it. Age has nothing to do with it. I have ridden some very good old coasters. Its just that Beast was never designed to do more than be a really fast ride through the woods. It doesnt take full advantage of the hills by actually having hills. It just goes...straight...a lot. Which is fun, at night under a full supermoon in the fog. But just about any other time, its just fun. Its nothing Ill drive 3hrs for. Diamondback though, yes I will. And I have. Beast is like the wooden version of Millennium Force. Its good for one thing mainly - speed. It does it well. But thats about it. Not a bad ride, just not crazy either. I will say that this year it was riding about as smooth as a traditional wooden coaster gets. The work done to the track was marvelous. It tracks superb! Very tight to the rails which happened to be very smooth as well.
  20. Aww you mean the very first runs arent REAL test runs and arent good indications of final runs? lol Agreed. People like to judge the "alpha" and "beta" stages of development as if it were the "final" release. Robb should know all about this being in the gaming industry.
  21. Kind of glad I didnt make my annual trek there like I usually have for so many years. Typically though, it has been most opening days arent this gorgeous from a weather standpoint either. Usually its much colder or just more miserable.
  22. Good set. I can say that with a long lens, you can get your fair share of wardrobe malfunctions. I have had a few from Maverick that were NSFW. You almost got a few. This ride looks very, very photogenic. Hard to take bad photos. Kudos to Port Adventure!
  23. Depends what side you are on. From a rider, yes its pointless. From a watcher, not pointless at all. I do wish most parks would integrate the splash into a "splash zone" but it seems only a few have done this. But I love the huge rooster tail it creates. Makes for awesome photo ops. So combining the two (if it still does that) is best of both worlds. EDIT - Saw Hanno's picture, I wish it were doing both. Now Im a bit disappointed. Mainly because if that ever malfunctions, now you get nothing. At least the water scoops - unless they break off, guarantee a show each time. But long as its up, still pretty sweet.
  24. Few things I think I noticed. Bit more speed over hills than typical. Also, they didnt seem to get any trim at the MCB at all. Also, the splashdown has a double effect? Its like Manta splash plus diamondback. Im anxious to see offride footage of that now.
  25. Wallpapers are in the email. If anyone else wants some, just PM me or write here. I likely wont adjust my crops so theyll end up looking like this:
