Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
Hercules replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this looks really good. It's not what you might expect from GCI, but it looks like a neat little coaster. Time will tell on just how good it will be. However, I can say that it is really good for Valleyfair. -

I would ride that thing, and not for the credit. I just like to do crazy things that put my body in danger. -
Very cool. I love old school things.

Hey Joe - Now we can go halves on a park, and it won't cost us $500,000,000 each!!! -

It seems like everyone in the coaster community was there except for me. Those were some really nice shots. And that is a hell of a line for an autograph from you. I can't imagine what it would have been if I were there. -
Best B&M collection?
Hercules replied to colossus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know. I haven't been on it. However, it looks like there are elements that I would like. I am just assuming there. From what I see though, it looks more compact and more forceful. Alpengeist is just big and forceless. I enjoy forces on an invert. The way it looks, Montu packs more of a punch. -
Nice report Derek. I kind of like Rye Playland eventhough it is a slight bit on the ghetto side. The flats are really what make the place. Unfortunately, I didn't hit up the dark rides when I was there this summer. Hopefully I can get on them my next visit. I have to agree that the Whip is by far awesome. But a little tip: the swinging ship is very good too. It is just a short notch off of Galleon at Knoebels in my opinion.

PPP 2006 - 2nd Annual Breakfast Meetup
Hercules replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry, I just had to chime in. I didn't know that you hadn't checked it out before (at least that is what I got from you post). I hope you have fun there. It just wasn't my kind of thing. I can name 3 better in PA alone. This isn't a role call thing, but I figured I would get things back on topic-ish since I was an ass. It is another newb question, so please bare with me. During the afternoon hours, are the rides really packed? I'm sure there aren't as many people riding as there will be at night, but will I be able to get a few good laps on the flyers in a fairly decent amount of time? -
Best B&M collection?
Hercules replied to colossus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been thinking about this even more today (NERD!) but I think I'm definately going to have to put BGT/BGA in my number two spot over BGW/BGE. Alpengeist is just weak, and Apollo's is good, but not spectacular. I can't see Griffon being the almighty difference maker. I haven't been to BGT/BGA, but Kumba and Montu just look like they might top it, mostly just because Alpengeist sucks. -

Do I get to change my avatar too??? I would rather have the logo of a dead roller coaster than the logo of a dead college football program. Maybe Notre Dame should consider scheduling teams like Akron and Youngstown State

Best B&M collection?

When I saw the thread I immediately thought of Great Adventure. That might just be because I frequent the place often though. After really thinking about it though, I think I'm going to have to say SFOG. With the addition of Griffon next year, BGW/BGE will be close, but I think I have to go with the quantity for the slight advantage. Besides, a Batman clone beats Alpengeist any day. -

I really like the MF one. I don't think I had ever seen that. It is so weird watching these things and thinking back to when they weren't around. It is even weirder because I wasn't part of the "coaster community" back then, so I'm trying to think of the response to it all. It is hard for me to imagine what people thought. I can't imagine what it was like. -
Neither price includes tax, but that is besides the point. There is nothing to complain about here. I could see complaining about something like 20 dollars, but even then the pass would pay for itself in 2 visits. Why complain about $79.99 when you are going to be going to Great Adventure most of the time, a place where the gate price is $60? And I'm sure that gmoney is planning on hitting up other Six Flags establishments throughout the course of next season (sorry if I'm wrong on that), but still, just going twice is more than worth it. Not to mention, there is a coupon booklet and a couple of season passholder events along the way. A 5 dollar hike in price on a candy bar is something to complain about - this is not.

Who the heck is Ed? I went with Papa Johns just because they put hot peppers in with the pizzas.
