Running one train...
Hercules replied to jamessanders's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ah. How about that. Thanks for the information. I was very confused and now I know. Those guys at Premier are just plain genius. Too bad Six Flags doesn't take advantage of it. -
First it was a buffalo chicken wrap and now this. Joe, your culinary skills are awe-inspiring.

One is in a parking lot and the other has trees and grass around it.

Running one train...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mr. Freeze a launched shuttle coaster, thus making it impossible to run more than one train? Isn't that like getting made at Deja Vu for only running one train. -

This issue kind of ties in with the one train debate that has been going on in another thread. Why would you purposly open up a major ride after opening? Like I said in the other thread, the purpose of the park is to entertain and satisfy the customers. I know that on my visits I have not been very happy with the ride opening so late after the gates opened. I can't imagine what people are thinking that are only making that one trip for the year or have not been to the park in ages and are finally making a return trip. -

I was actually thinking of Nitro when I made that 3 train statement. I don't think that Nitro runs that effeciently with 3 trains. I feel there is always a train on the blocks for at least a minute, if not more. I could really run well with 3 trains, but within the past couple years of me going to the park regularly, I haven't seen it. And yes, it does depend on the ride. In my experiences though, I have seen 3 train operation be a little poor. In some cases, it does depend on the ride. Like I said though, from what I have seen, it hasn't made a difference. -

I can't agree with anyone who thinks that running 1 train during a busy day is good business practice, especially for the reasons that were mentioned so far in this thread. The job of the park is to make their customers happy and satisfied. The customers are not satisfied while standing in line, waiting extra time for a ride. I don't really care about the wear and tear. If it is really that big of a concern, then ok, run the coaster to the fullest capacity that you can. If that is one train, then it is one train. However, there better be a lot of work going into that ride so that it can be running at a higher capacity very, very soon. Every effort needs to be made to get all rides in a park up to capacity expectation. I have issues with one train, and to tell you the truth, running 3 trains on a regular coaster. I just don't see how running 3 trains increases capacity, as there is always a train sitting on the brakes. -

I think Tootsie Rolls suck. That is just me. The stapling on El Toro really hasn't been that bad. You can get a good inch and a half of room is you sit straight back while they push down the restraints. Even though they have been a little more lax with the restraints after the first month. -

Very cool and unique trip report. That looked like a lot of fun. I would love to do something like that, but you would never be able to get that crap on my face. -

I, too, remember it vaguely. I don't remember the decorations as GA has stated. It was a very tall one, as I remember, and that is not the little kid talking either. The part of the ride that I remember most is it over near Comet. There is just something about it. I remember it very well. -

I just took the time to go through this, and it really is great. Keep up the good work! I'm really enjoying it. -
I'm very happy to hear that things seem to be going well.

Won't you be upset when he actually does die of stationary related accident. You will be crying. You know it. Just wait until there is a paper cut that gets infected. You will hate yourself for making that statement. By the way, cool TR so far. I can't wait for more. -

I was thinking that it was ok at first because they were out of public view. But now I think, they were on the job. It doesn't matter that they were performing or whatever, but they were just plain on the job. That is not how you act when you are on the job whether you are in the costume or not. -
Corey Lidle has been identified as one of the bodies found in this small plane crash in Manhattan today. It is not believe to be an act of terrorism. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15223650/?GT1=8618

Yeah, because Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters is already taken.

This is my roommate. Well, he isn't my roommate anymore. He decided to drop out of school and leave the place on Friday. So for that, I will post this picture for the world to see.

Although I complain about a Nazi-ish op from time to time on the ride, I have to agree on a few statements that were already made. I'm sure the ride is taking a huge beating and has over the years. With the way that it was running at night, and having all the good riders that it did, i was just imagining the structure collapsing or cables literally snapping and a vehicle flying off into a tree or into the line. The place does also have to look out for its customers. If you look over to the side while you are on a good run, you will see the pure terror on the faces of the children. And that is when they aren't even on the ride! I saw three kids and an adult crying on Saturday while riding, and one kid crying while watching the ride. I guess it is just that scary. I was talking to a man and he said that Mr. Knobel is planning on selling this model and replacing it. I'm not sure if the guy didn't know what he was talking out, or if Dick was kidding, or if there is some truth to it. Anyone care to chime in on that? No matter what happens, it definately was a good run. It is the best flat that I have ever been on.

What's the problem? You don't speak Caveman anymore? It is sad that Caveman is a dying dialect.

Well yes, but I believe it was also for insurance reasons too. Hercules was the same way. It was tearing itself up. However, even after the trims it was a lot of cost to maintain. So, I think it was partically for insurance reasons too, as it was really rough and there were complaints from riders.
-
That is true alfundo. That is why Hercules got trims put on it because it was too rough. That is why Mean Streak has trims. That is probably why there is going to be a trim after the launch on Maverick. That is why there are trims all over the place at Valleyfair!. It is Cedar Fair insurance. They are just playing it safe. However, it is also a product of being in the United States as Nicole said. We are a society where everyone gets sued for the smallest things. We are a society where people can not be trusted around a flat ride until it has a fence around it. Welcome to the United States. This is one thing that I don't really blame Cedar Fair for. They are a lot more strict than some of the other corporate chains, but I can understand it. What I do blame them for is turning their parks into generic clones of each other. And if someone makes an argument that a park in their chain isn't like that yet (say, Worlds of Fun), believe me, it is in the process. I blame them for making decisions that cause a parks history to go up in smoke. I blame them for taking the fun out of the amusement park experience. I want the days of Alfundo back - Allentown/Fun/Dorney Sorry about the random rant. We can keep talking about insurance now.
