Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
redfoot12 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Fair just built Banshee. Did you forget so soon? No. Banshee was originally going to be the name of Mantis but Cedar Point decided to change it because of a possible backlash from people who might find it offensive. Online enthusiast crackpots are using that as a precedent for why Cedar Point may change the name of Valravn. -

The only basis for the rumor is that CP changed the original name of Mantis from Banshee 20 years ago. Sounds legit. -

Was there a lawsuit against the cliff? I'm sure there would have been if the cliff had money. -
Disclaimers-- Haven't ridden any iron horsed coasters (yet). May be going to Lagoon in a couple of weeks. Six Flags really needs to retire the "Goliath" name. I didn't realize how many wooden coasters would come out on top. California-- X2 Colorado-- Cyclone Florida-- Kumba Georgia-- Goliath Illinois-- Goliath Indiana-- Voyage Kentucky-- Kentucky Rumbler Maryland-- Superman: Ride of Steel Massachusetts-- Bizarro Missouri-- Outlaw Run New Hampshire-- Toss-up between Untamed and Yankee Cannonball New Jersey-- El Toro New York-- Cyclone North Carolina-- Vortex Ohio-- Maverick Pennsylvania-- Skyrush South Carolina-- Afterburn Texas-- Shockwave Virginia-- I305

I think a ride like Banshee would be perfect as KD's next coaster. -

As someone who's not a fan of Alpengeist and has no qualms about skipping it, Raptor is no where near Alpie rough and I re-rode it with glee. Edit: I used to love Alpengeist. It's been a few years though. Maybe I need to give it another shot. -

A grand deception to throw off a few thousand coaster geeks? I think a leak sounds more plausible. -

I'm not a fan of the vests at all, probably because I'm a larger guy. I think I would have enjoyed Banshee (and maybe even Gatekeeper and X-Flight) more if it had traditional OTSR's. Because of my height I've never had much of an issue with headbanging on the OTSR's and my large torso definitely feels more constricted in the vests. -
Most Overrated coaster?

I enjoyed both of these rides but I'm going with Goliath SFGAm and Millennium Force -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Hey people! I'm thinking about doing a trip to Worlds of Fun and Six Flags St Louis and was wondering if some of you guys could help me plan out a trip. I'll be driving from Fort Collins, CO which would be a 9-hour trip to WoF and a little over 12 hours to SFStL. I've never been to either park so obviously I'd like to get all the credits at both parks. My rough outline of a plan would be to leave FC around 4am and arrive at around 1 or 2pm (I think there might be a time change in there). I would then stay until close (looking forward to night rides on Prowler) and then stay at a nearby hotel. Following morning around 6 or 7 I would then drive to SFStL at opening. Anyway, I welcome any alterations to this plan-- driving to Six Flags first, suggestions on hotels, need for flash passes/fast lane, how much time I'd actually need at each park. I already posted this message in the WoF thread. Thanks for any help! -

Nice report! I'm thinking about doing a Worlds of Fun/Six Flags St Louis trip at some point as I haven't been to either park yet. It will be about a 9-hour drive for me from Fort Collins to WoF so I'm still thinking about the logistics of such a trip. Don't feel too bad about not having reached 100 credits yet. I've gone through major droughts where I never picked up any new credits (2000-2006) and didn't hit #100 until I was around 33. -

Ahhh... Missed this earlier (you can ignore my PM if you want). I wish I had made a trip to Lake Compounce when I was in New England last year as Boulder Dash has always been high up on my list of coasters to ride. Interested in the rest of your report and to see your thoughts on El Toro as that's my #1 overall but don't see it in your list of "wow" coasters. Edit to add: I absolutely loved Bizarro when I rode it last year and it became one of my top steel coasters. Made me wonder what I missed out on by not riding it in the 2000's. -

I don't want them to copy Cedar Point or Carowinds. It needs to be unique to the park. If they can squeeze in a coaster at the front of the park, I'm all for it. Since the majority of people will not go to all three parks in their life times it would be unique enough. -

Not to derail an 8-year old thread but my friends and I really enjoyed our trip the other day. A little disappointed that Giant Canyon Swing was down. -

As long as Maverick exists there's always a reason to fly back to this park. -

Kind of funny how much OP liked Thunderbolt. Especially given the timeliness of me riding it a few days ago at its current location in Glenwood Caverns. I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would. -

Sums it up for me. Except I'd switch the descriptions so they'd describe the other coaster
