  1. I just want to point out that the water rides are all very family friendly (no height restriction on Log Jammer or Yosemite Sam even...). With Roaring Rapids, Jet Stream, and Tidal Wave at 42", you have a little bit of selection around the park for the families. Sure, they are not coasters but it IS something (that they have not removed yet!). If you include those rides, I definitely think SFMM is still a satisfying family day that exceeds the *thrills* of the local mall. Sure, the focus seems to be on the teenagers, but there ARE things to do. I also agree that when compared to DLR and KBF, SFMM doesnt rank too well. I just noticed that nobody mentioned the water rides, and I think they are a lot of fun, and cater to the 'height group of this discussion!' Chris.
  2. 7 / 20 Basically all guesses except the two giveaways for us. Chris.
  3. ...and hopefully you will each earn a new credit with the elusive 10th coaster!!! chris.
  4. Ok this may not need it's own topic, but this has really been bugging me and I haven't seen an answer on the site yet. The new Knotts commercials advertise '10 roller coasters' in the park, however, I for the life of me, can only think of 9. RCDB seems to agree with me on that figure. Is there another ride that they are considering 'part coaster,' maybe like Perilous Plunge? If anybody has some insight on this claim, I would really like to know. Thank you much!!! Chris.
  5. Wow, lots of great pictures, shots you normally dont see on this site. I like all of the empty queues! Chris.
  6. I dunno, I just get the feeling that this ride will be a big fail. So many little problems have been popping up that makes it appear to me that the contractor was not ready to take on such a grand project. It kind of reminds me of Superman at SFMM when it was being built. LOTS of hype that turned into an epic fail for the year. I do, also have the humility to accept the fact that I may be completely wrong in my assumptions. Chris.
  7. Does anybody else find it interesting that Big Mike *always* stands on the left? ...just sayin... Big Mike, is there a reason for this? Chris.
  8. Nice report, I enjoy seeing different parts of the park as you showcased here. Sometimes, when going through an entire report, its the random pictures of paths and trees that give you a feel for the park. I know it does for me here, and when i'm going through my own pictures that I have taken. Chris.
  9. Wow, I hate to say it, but I LOVE Los Angeles. I have lived temporarily in different parts of the nation, but there is something about the area that I like. I am partial to the valley, and valley people ARE a bit different. I agree with the past messages that say 'la proper' people are a**holes, and I think the same way. Valley people are a bit more laid back, perhaps we have a bit of the 'old' LA feel in us, but when it comes down to it, we are just as LA as everybody else! Orange County freaks me out because there are so many white people, I'm just not used to it growing up in such a culturally diverse area (I'm white, btw). OC generally does remind me of what Hollywood portrays 'White Los Angeles' to be. San Diego is amazing, this is probably why people have previously stated that they dont associate So Cal with areas outside of Los Angeles. If you are apprehensive to move to Southern California, give San Diego a chance. Also stated, Ventura County is a bit different, but its just not alive enough for me. Los Angeles people take getting used to, but I guess I am one of those LA people myself. I know that we tend to be more self centered, and even more-so, FLAKY. Everywhere else I have been and lived, when you make plans, you stick to them. Los Angeles people seem to make tentative plans, then pick the best one when the time comes. We come up with some lame excuse not to hang out, and the other party just goes with it even though they know its bullsh*t. All in all, I guess I am used to it. The traffic is an ongoing saga, but honestly, if you are a local, you know how to get around it. Nonetheless, getting from LAX to the valley during rushhours (630am-11am & 3pm-8pm) will take no less than 2 hours. Once again, I suppose I have accepted this as a part of life. Maybe its part of how we always seem so busy all the time! My favorite example of LA vs NYC is this: If you are in LA with a road map, people will just walk passed you and not say anything, for HOURS! You are stuck, figure it out yourself. While NYC people are regarded as 'rude,' I noticed that if you pull out a map, within 1 minute, somebody will come up and ask 'What are you looking for?' They may sound abrupt asking, but they are genuinely concerned. They will tell you very fast 'Oh just walk up broadway, hop on the C, go east 3 blocks and you are there.' I attribute this to New Yorkers living on the sidewalk, where they encounter people. LA residents live in their bubble, their car, their parking garage, their work. If you have an aggressive personality, and you like being part of the 'rat race,' then LA might just be perfect for you! I think the valley folk have a way of balancing the two. If you want the best of both worlds, move up to the SCV, where Robb lives, and you can be here, but avoid all the weird nonsense!!!! Just my two and a half cents... Chris.
  10. I LOVE the new simple look. It's fantastic!!! More professional too... Chris.
  11. Ghostrider, at night, at the first Solace event, with the lights off, in the fog, during ERT. Nuff said. Chris.
  12. That was hardly a POV...just a report. Chris.
  13. I was actually curious about the on-ride photo thing too, especially after the SFMM update, where they typically do not allow it. Thanks for the answers!!! Chris.
  14. You mentioned earlier that you plan on going the 22nd? If you are talking about March, then why the heck arent you just going to go with WCB??? Unless I missed something and your talking about April. If so, just disregard me Chris.
  15. That reach envelope by the entrance flyby looks REALLY close to the building! Should be a surprise while riding. Chris.
  16. I might be going on a limb here, but does anybody else think it would be a good idea to still offer the flashpass option? That would keep the passholders happy, and provide a more affordable 'one time' option for those looking to just cut in line a few times (or a group once). At least for the year anyway, while they adjust the passholder advertising... Just a thought... chris.
  17. My dirty mind started laughing at this...of all rides to mention this on, "Log Jammer?" Thats exactly whats going through all those little teenagers minds at that moment... Chris.
  18. ^ Maybe it wont look so weird once the seats are raised up to the flying position? Just a thought... Chris.
  19. Ricks Delight looks ****arousing****
  20. I cant tell if you are just a big dork or on drugs. Chris.
  21. Working IN a hotel I can tell you that I have never heard of that company. Whenever booking through a third party agent, make sure you call the actual hotel property before your visit and confirm the dates of your reservation, and the fact that it is already paid for. It can save you a TON of hassle when you arrive. As mentioned earlier, I would always recommend calling the actual hotel and booking direct. The reservation is more versatile, and cancellation policies are usually less strict. Rates are generally identical unless the hotel is sold out and the booking engine still has a few room blocks left. Chris.
  22. Did you know that there used to be a Busch Gardens in Pasadena? It was just a garden though, no rides, not even a monorail. The only way you could even know that it was there in the past, is that there is still a street over there called Busch Gardens Dr. Thought I would bring that up for everyone here at TPR...your non-ride memories of Busch Gardens in Tampa reminded me of it. Chris.
  23. Last year, I bought tickets to a sold out concert from some guy who is one of very few hollywood 'acting swordfight trainers.' Random, I know, just thought I would throw that out there. Some guy, somewhere in the San Fernando Valley, makes a living teaching people how to pretend to swordfight. Chris.
  24. Big Mike, Keeping that sex survey in your pocket, then posting it on TPR, has got to be the creepiest thing I have ever seen. Keep up the good work! lol... Chris.
  25. So did the event convince you to join ACE? Chris.
