  1. I have to say I'm really digging the look of the trains. I also love those restraints. I've never seen a looping coaster look so...comfortable. I think all loopers should switch to those types of restraints eventually. But anywho, great picture report and I especially enjoyed the close ups. It's always fun to look at other peoples' reactions.
  2. Where was this thread at when I was still in marching band?? Oh yea? I played Tenor Sax from my alumni, FAMU's Marching 100. Came up fall '99. Definitely remember playing against Norfolk every year. (I think yall came down to Tally once) Good times, good times. What year you came up?
  3. Ok I think I'm the winner here..
  4. ^ On a somewhat related note: When I was writing the previous thread above me, I remembered last year you put up a thread where if we did a review on Rollercoasters in the Raw part 1, we would receive a TPR bag of crap. I was wondering "well i guess he'll send it when he's ready or he just forgot about it" It just so happened I checked my mail today, and I see this weird package from TPR and lo and behold! I finally got my bag-o-crap you promised last year! So yea, you really are a man of your word. Who cares if it took a year, I got my bag-o-crap! Thanks for not forgetting about us.
  5. Well I know I will be getting Rollercoasters in the Raw 2, sicne I ordered the first one last year and really enjoyed the quality of it. Although I had some paypal issues (that Rob quickly helped me with) I got my DVD fairly quick. Your "Raw" series are perfect for someone like me who just want to hear all the raw elements of a roller coaster. The lift hill clanking, people's screams, the sound of a wooden/steel coaster traversing through the track and such, is all the music I need. I hope you continue making more of these!
  6. Wow, I was pretty shocked when I saw this on the front page. I thought the park would continue to survive somewhat. Well that sucks for me granted I've never been to Cypress Gardens...although it didn't seem like I was missing much. Still would've been nice to visit at least one time. Oh well...
  7. Looks like I have a reason to hit up Sea World again. It's funny, but I've been to SW only once and that's when Journey to Atlantis first came out. So, yea, I even haven't been on Kraken yet... Can't wait to try this flyer out. Can't believe we finally have one in Florida. Now where's our hyper??
  8. This is me in a nutshell
  9. 1. I can see all three 2. Firefox v2.0.0.17 3. They all stream fine 4. Sure, why not?
  10. Oh there are a couple of sit-down buffet Pizza Huts here in Tallahassee. And Sharktums is correct. They did the same in the states a while ago. For a sec I thought it was a April Fools joke or something when I first heard about it.
  11. Immelmanns are my favorite. My favorite one is from Shreika. I love the hang-time feel I get from them. 2nd fave have to be zero-g rolls but mostly on inverted coasters.
  12. For me my longest hiatus would be 7 years. 1999-2006
  13. Batman: The Ride @ SFOG Oct 06'. This was my first time ever riding a Batman coaster, so I didn't know what to expect as far as the queue. When you first get there, it seems like a fairly normal queue from the outside, saw a decent line of people. I thought to myself "no big deal, seems like a standard queue". While I was waiting, I saw a family leave the line, which I thought "hey, less of a wait, that's a win for me". But when I made that right turn into the warehouse, OMG. Literally a sea of people filled the ENTIRE building. I've never seen a queue so friken huge! I almost opted to leave cause I was not going to wait to ride something that's less than 2 mins. long. But being me, I stayed and about 1.5 hours and another 20-30 minutes for the front row. Great ride, but I'll NEVER wait in that long of a line again.
  14. Looks like I'm in for a rainy weekend. To be honest I just found out about Fay about 2 days ago, so I had no idea it was coming.. Here's looking towards a free work day tommorow. (One can hope)
  15. Any coaster higher than 150' I get nervous on, no matter how many times I ride them. I'm sure my mild fear of heights has something to do with it. I still get nervous as hell going up Goliath's (SFOG) lift, cause I'm ALWAYS on the side with no railing. Any coaster with a straight drop gets to me. The steeper the drop the more nervous I get (Sherika, anyone?) But in a weird way, that what keeps me going back. That adrenaline rush from being nervous and then going down the first drop and just letting it all go is the best feeling in the world.
  16. Blame? "The standard"? Hahahahaha. You guys are hilarious. How many terrain megacoasters with this exact sequence of elements has B&M produced that it's a "standard" now? You guys are acting like this a Morgan hyper or a Batman clone or something. I have to agree with this. It's not like the GP digs coaster as much as we do. (if they did they would be enthusiasts) They wouldn't notice or really even care if the design was similar to another park's coaster. What's wrong with a park having their own version of Nitro or Behemoth? I personally get excited when a new coaster is announced especially if it's a hyper and ESPECIALLY if it's a B&M. You can't go wrong with them.
  17. Over the yrs Kumba has gotten very rough. I remember when it was smooth. I really do not know if there is a way to bring back the smoothness Kumba use to have but I would certainly would love it Oh man, I agree with you there. I also remember riding it opening year. Fast forward to Nov. 2007, the last time I rode Kumba, and it's definately not the same ride. I was shocked when my head was banging during the corkscrews. I thought to myself "Not on a B&M!", but I guess time(and Florida weather) can do that to even good coasters like Kumba. But as far as my take on overrated coasters, I haven't really found one which I didn't expect anything out of the ordinary. The closest for me might be Sheikra and only because of the short length.
  18. The boomerang at Wild Adventures is technically my favorite Vekoma. Very smooth and I like how the loop is forceful going backwards. I also liked Deja Vu when it was still at SFOG.
  19. I keep hearing this from people on here. Every Gwazi ride I've been on was nothing like you described. It had the typical wooden coaster roughness, but nothing that would deter the ride from being enjoyable. Was it cause of a certain row/time/day you rode on? However, Cheetah at Wild Adventures is EXACTLY how you described Gwazi: Brutal and jackhammering on the turns and just overall painful. Especially in the middle. It's the only coaster to actually give me a headache.
  20. Dania Beach Hurricane. Everytime I go to there I average about 15-20 rerides(maybe even more). It's just THAT fun of a ride.
  21. Seriously, man those probably are the best Goliath/Mindbender pics I've ever seen in a TR (and the fact you took alot of them makes me ) Those two are the reason why I go to SFOG. Great PTR and I glad to hear you enjoyed yourself!
  22. I have zero and intend to keep it that way. Not because they're geeky or anything (Hey, we're ALL coaster geeks here), but cause I'm too damn cheap to buy anything in an amusement park.
  23. Based on my experiences, I would have to say Montu and Shreika at BGA. The time I was there , Montu had 3 trains coming and going....barely any downtime and the line was moving quick. Same with Sherika. They move those trains like clockwork! There was a line, but that line moved so damn quick 5 mins later I'm already in a seat. I'm also impressed of Hulk at IOA. They seemed professional in loading/unloading and you saw a train launch every couple minutes. Even waiting for the front row wasn't that bad.
  24. Aww man.......all I see from the pics is air, air, and more air. Great pictures! It looks like it's gonna be a pretty solid coaster. I love hypers but I really like the look and style of mini hypers. I'll ride on one of those anyday!
  25. Nice pics, man. I like seeing people's expressions on rides and I liked that last picture of Big Bad Wolf. Very photogenic. Great trip report as well!
