  1. I have been on [7] of the top [25] Here is how I rank them [1] Boulder Dash [2] The Voyage [5] Thunderhead [7] Phenoix [8] Comet [9] El Toro [11] Raven
  2. As long as GCI doesn't drastically change any of the banking, i think we should see it running like new. Based on the work they did last season, it seems like it will take a few weeks for the new wood to set in, but after that, it will be smooth as glass. It may even climb back up in the rankings seeing how this season, it got rave reviews with only about half of the coaster retracked.
  3. Top 3 Countdown! 3. Voyage at Holiday World. Getting stuck on the first break run on the last ride of the night. When we initially got stuck, we were dry, about 10 min. in it started pouring so hard i could barely see the midway below us. 20 min later when we pulled into the station, i was completely soaked from head to toe. (The poncho i had on was pretty useless after the first 4 minutes of getting poured on) 2. Tomb Raider at Canadas Wonderland. The lift was cool looking and smooth, but after that it was painful. I cringed at every turn i saw coming. 1. Wildcat at Hershey Park. The GCI lapbar came down so hard i could not move and could barely breathe, I still had about half the ride to go.
  4. Doesn't look like a frog hopper from the picture, but rather one of the Moser mini towers like the one seen here. Frog hoppers have one continuous lap bar across the entire section but the moser models have individual ones. Also they claim a capacity of 10, which this ride version has.
  5. When i rode Goliath in August, there were no restraint seatbelts nor any sign of them.
  6. Looking at the video on their website of the "monster mansion" it seems to be *much* better than Garfields. http://www.halloweenproductions.com/MM_ride.php
  7. It sounds like it slams down because that is exactly what it is doing. The entire lift system drops down to allow the train to travel backwards over the chain that was just pulling it up.
  8. From reading the "Holiblog" those are directly from the 2008 addition at Holiday World.
  9. Just to clarify, the ferris wheel lift is a Premier creation.
  10. You wouldn't really have to clear that many trees. Look at Boulder Dash for example. The only trees that needed to come down were the ones directly where the track is.
  11. At a small park like Lake Compounce in Connecticut, there are sometimes hundreds of "lost parents" a day, so i can not even imagine what it would be like at larger parks. While all of the parents are reunited with their child, it takes time and many employees to occur. I could see the system working well if it was non-invasive and possibly disposable?
  12. From what I have heard, that is the current plan. It seems as if the special effects from the ride are going to be moved to Great America for their new topspin next year and that the current tomb raider area willl be used for the entrence.
  13. I like that they are going to be setting up the childrens area similar to the way the former Paramount Park ones are. The Childrens areas at Kings Island and Canadas Wonderland were impressive, so hopefully the new one at Cedar Point will be too.
  14. They could have been changing things behind the scenes as well as thing the guests can not see at this time for a while now. Right?!
  15. Maybe im missing something here, but why are some many people doubting the 85 degreee drop bit. It is being advertised as an 85 degree drop, and its not like B&M has not made steeper ones.
  16. Your best bet would probobly be Trip Advisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/
  17. Going from this picture...it seems as if the entire train travels through the inversion.
  18. The tunnel after the second drop on the Beast. Flying down that hill looking at the little hole you are going to go through is quite intimidating.
  19. The sign looks the be a little scratched up...I guess that is from all the angry guests...
  20. So maybe intamin can update their neck chopping OTSR's with something like this. Oh how I hate those horrible horrible restraints.
  21. The official Six Flags website claims that Superman is still temporarily closed.
  22. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Morey's Piers, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. I always thought that the SLC at Morey's was one of the smoother ones in operation, and this will only make the ride better! I have always thought that Vekoma SLC's are very intense and thrilling coasters, but as many others, I find that the head banging is just to much to find the ride enjoyable. With these new seats, I think that the ride will finally get the recognition it deserves. Its also nice to see that parks are considering an improvement to the guests experience with no large financial benefit to them. 23. I don't know what kind of systems the invertigos use but having been on one, it seems as if its some type of hydraulic motor with chain or a catch car on the inside of a track. The brakes on the invertigo rides are rarely used since upon returning to the station, the train reattaches to the initial lift system and it allows the train to travel up the lift hill as far as it can before it loses enough speed and stops. At that time the system brings the train back down and parks it in the correct position. The brakes open and close every cycle depending on where the train is, but they are not used unless something goes wrong; unlike a boomerang where the brakes are the force used to stop it. The system on the invertigos is alot more complex than the boomerangs.
  24. Posting only that section of the article is not very fair. The article says that they do not support the stadium project, but if the people in the area feel that a new stadium is more important, they will consider selling their lease. That one paragraph makes it sound like they will gladly sell and changes the tone that the article has if read alone. I suggest everyone that plans on commenting on this new development read the entire article.
