^^BrownStreak...those are some great pointers! I'll be sure to make sure I write those down and put them next to my monitor next time I edit a video. And I'll be sure to use a song that you adore and love. Maybe some death metal with cursing and swearing, or a rap song about rape and drinking will fit right in for a coaster video about Thomas Town. Thanks for the input!

Dammit Justin for having a better video than mine! Honestly, the videos this contest are way better than the previous contests, in my opinion. Cody. I must say that I tried to do a "Tatsu only" video and it sucked compared to yours. I really liked your transitions with the different sequences and it showed that the ride is amazing. Great editing and a kick @$$ song. Matthew. For an overplayed song I think you did a pretty good job. You definitely captured the entire park and what it has to offer. Ryan. Great Opening. That really shows how you can edit some pretty amazing stuff. I wish I had a program to edit intros like that. By far the best opening of a video yet. You had some great coaster coaster footage and your POV weren't too shaky which is a good thing. JimmyBo. Sucked Justin. You bastard...I think yours is the best out of the bunch. Great way to show coasters and freaks all in one video. I really like how you edited the video to the music. The drum beat was pretty sweet and that's what I try to do on my videos but you pretty much make mine look like a little school (which isn't that bad if your Jeff Johnson).

I must say that these videos were great. A lot of them had amazing coaster footage and some of them were just out-right hilarious. They all had great music and the videos were edited well to the music. I especially like it when the music skips or counts and then you have quick shots of videos...it really is hard to eidt to make it work and it definitely pays off in the end. Dave, your video made me spit my beer all over my screen. And thanks Barry for being a good sport about it. Jimmy "My videos suck compared to these" Bo

Robb & Jahan Go To White Castle
JimmyBo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Well, maybe in California Robb but here in AZ. Looks like all the Chick-Fil-A's are taking over where Krispy Kreme's used to be in Tucson. And yes...you are old. Jimmy "Wish I was in Cali" Bo -
Worlds of Fun Construction - Prowler
JimmyBo replied to Jive's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to agree with Robb. If the flags are blue or green that means they are usually repairing some sort of underground utility. However, if the flags are red or pink then that usually indicates a removal of some ground. At least that's what "flags" or survey markers mean in some states. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Summer 2007 Video

Interesting Video. Ever think about doing a Photo Trip Report with those pictures? You got some great shots and plus you could describe your day at the park. -
What's wrong with Mean Streak?
JimmyBo replied to dammie16@vt.edu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think Mean Streak is bad because looking at almost all Cedar Fair wooden coasters...they are about good for one year and then thye just let them go. Look at GhostRider at Knott's. That coaster was amazing the first couple of years and now it has gone down hill. I don't think Cedar Fair likes to keep up their wooden coasters as much as they would their steel coasters and woodies need a lot more attention than steels. Hopefully, Renegade won't fall into the category of Cedar Fair woodies that are good for a little bit and then suck later on in life. Holiday World has three amazing wooden coasters and they are able to keep those coasters running well. I think it's Cedar Fair's fault for not keeping the ride up. They add trims to slow the coaster down so they won't have to work on it as much as they would have. True Holiday World did the same thing with Voyage but at least there aren't trims until the first half is over. That's my two pennies...blame it on the company for being lazy and not keeping the ride up to its potential. Jimmy "Mean Streak was ok in the beginning...now it just hurts" Bo -
Robb & Jahan Go To White Castle
JimmyBo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They are called sliders for a reason...they slide right through you. I seriously miss White Castle. When I was on my Mid-West trip (which can be found in JimmyBo and Friends Volume 1 at the TPR store) Ryan and I only had White Castle, Steak and Shake, and of course a mixture of alcohol every now and then. White Castle is amazing and I wish they would start popping up on the west coast like "Chick Fil A" is. Great footage Robb. I think you truly captured the awesomeness that is White Castle. 1. What do you find most useful about the front page? The constant updates on the left hand side. SOmetime if I don't make it to the site in a couple days it's nice to see what's new by looking at the Forum Updates. Also, there are usually things that I might have skipped by when I browse through the froum. 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? The Special Features section. I believe you could probably combine Special Features and TPR Official Updates...they kind of go hand in hand. 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? Yeah, what's with that myspace crap? 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? As long as I need to until I see something that I have already seen. 5. How often do you look at the front page? Nearly every day when I get home from work. TPR is the second website I look at when I come home (Yahoo is the first because that's my email) 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? Pretty much never because the "Forum, Updates, and Other Stuff" Section keeps me in the what's new 7. What would you like to see added to the front page to make your visits to TPR better? Actual Theme Park Reviews. I think you guys have been to enough Theme Park to start your very own reviews of parks and coasters. Since this is called Theme Park Review I think it would be great to hear about Robb and Elissa's reviews. I don't really want to hear about members reviews except in the forums but to have a place where Robb and Elissa review parks would be great. I little bit of reading never hurt anyone. 8. Anything else you would like to mention? Like any thing else you would like to see us add/change/leave alone/etc? A "Theme Park Reviews" section as stated above. I think it would be great to see that. Plus, if parks come onto the site and read your reviews...hell...they might change some things in the park! Hopefully this helps you guys out. By the way...thanks again for everything you guys have done with this website and trips. I know it takes a lot of hard work and long hours to do this stuff for people so I want to thank you guys so much for it...and for staying somewhat normal people and not freakin lunatics! Having just gone to Castles and Coasters again this past weekend I've come to realize that we definitely need another park in AZ. CnC sucks! Hopefully Decades will become a reality and I will be more than happy to be a part of the team if it does become a reality. It's good to hear that this bill has passed and it's all a matter of time before they actually start moving dirt at the proposed site. I think this will be a great idea for Arizona.

My advice, wait until you have enough pictures to do a full update or at least be more descriptive with the pictures like Jahan has done in the past for SFMM. If I see one of these updates for SFOT every week with about 15 photos explaining the names of the rides every time, I will get bored. At least have info about the park or new things that have happened to make the update more interesting.

Coaster Videos from the 1980s
JimmyBo replied to coasterdad's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just out of curiosity, but what type of old school video camera did you use back then? Was it the type where it was a full VHS tape in the camera or was it the mini VHS tapes where you needed an adapter to watch it in a VCR. Just wondering because it's hard to imagine bringing a huge camcorder on rides back then. Great videos. It's great to see videos from the 80's...my generation! -
I went to SFMM on Easter Sunday last year and they were no crowds except for Tatsu in the morning. Although Easter Sunday was not during Spring Break last year. I know some colleges will have that week off so you might get some crowds. The best thing to do at SFMM is get there early, hit Tatsu right away then do the back of the park and make a loop. You can pretty much do everything in a day if you want but you just have to get there early.

Just a little info from azstar.net "PHOENIX — The effort to build a large-scale rock 'n' roll theme park in Eloy passed its first test Wednesday. The Senate Commerce and Economic Development Committee signed off on backers' request to create a special taxing district to help finance the park. The concept won bipartisan support even though some members worried the plan was nothing short of a handout. "When you put someone at such a huge competitive advantage by being able to use municipal financing … it's not even just corporate welfare — it's theme-park welfare," said Sen. Ken Cheuvront, D-Phoenix. "I don't believe the role of government is to finance for-profit corporations." The bill passed on a 5-2 vote but still needs to pass both chambers of the Legislature and be signed by the governor. Holding some back initially were memories of Tucson's Rio Nuevo Downtown redevelopment project. In 2006, the Legislature approved extending Rio Nuevo's special taxing district by 12 years, an estimated $800 million decision. Citing little progress, Cheuvront said Rio Nuevo is "just a black hole," while Sen. Robert Blendu, R-Phoenix — who eventually voted for the theme-park legislation — called it "Rio Dinero." But unlike Rio Nuevo, which diverts existing taxes from the state's general fund to pay off bonds, the Eloy project would have no fiscal impact because it creates a new tax — up to 9 percent — on activity within the park's boundaries only. The money would be used to repay low-interest government bonds to pay back investors who front the money for the park. The bill requires planners to first raise $100 million on their own. The plan, announced in November, would take 300 acres of privately owned land in Eloy, just southeast of where Interstates 8 and 10 intersect, and transform them into a sprawling $800 million theme park dedicated to America's rock 'n' roll history. Its planners hope to complete the park by 2012 and say it could handle a yearly attendance of more than 6 million, or about as many visitors as Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., receives, and 2 million more a year than San Diego's SeaWorld attracts. The two dissenters on the committee — Cheuvront and Sen. Pamela Gorman, R-Anthem — argued if the park were viable it would not need government aid. Kevin DeMenna, lobbyist for the project, countered that's not how theme parks are built. "A project like this, in a national environment, in an international environment, is going to be competing where there are going to be subsidies, where there are going to be checks written straight up by other governments," DeMenna said. "Projects like this will go someplace else." Sen. Richard Miranda, D-Tolleson, cited the economic impact the Feb. 3 Super Bowl in Glendale had on the Phoenix-area economy. He said that would not have been possible if Maricopa County residents had not helped finance a $500 million stadium there. Blendu said if the project turned out to be unsuccessful, the Legislature could undo the law. But Gorman said while that's possible, it's unlikely. Looking to build bipartisan support, the park's promoters sent out a press release Tuesday explaining that they intend to make the park "green," looking at solar-energy, biodiesel-usage, light-pollution and water-usage strategies. Asked about the park and the taxing district Wednesday, Gov. Janet Napolitano would not comment, saying only, "We'll see if it gets to my desk." More found here along with where the park will be http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/226134 For those of you that know the area, I believe it will be pretty damn close to SkyDive Arizona, which is the world's largest SkyDive Resort.

^ I agree with Wes. RCDB still doesn't list the one and only roller coaster in Tucson and it's a freaking Miner Mike. They list all other Miner Mike's but why not this one? I have no idea what this coaster will be, but I am interested in seeing where they put the new coaster in the park. Any thoughts?

True, it is a very limited menu but the shakes are to die for! I had a shakes at the JR's at SFFT and SFOT and they were amazing. Although they weren't as good as Pink Things at SFOT but that's another debate to be had elsewhere. Jimmy "I prefer MooseBurger over JR Burger anyday" Bo -

All I have to say is...it's about damn time you slacker! Can't wait to see the rest of these since I know you always put such a great effort into your Trip Reports. Plus, it's always great to see other people's point of view on trips...now we get to see Da Cocks point of view -
Miss (or Mrs.) Title Fairy...can you please change my title to "TPR's official drunkaholic". I want everyone out there to know that I am addicted to drunk. Thank you Elissa...I mean Title Fairy. Jimmy "Title Fairy is not a transvestite...she is one hot sexy momma" Bo

Congrats Diablo Cody! Maybe now I should finish up my screenplay that I have been working on since I was 15. Seriously though...congrats and you kick major @$$

From the look of the picture, kind of looks like The Ultimate killed me (since I'm the one on the left...dead). I wasn't really a fan of it since it needed a lift hill to get back into the station. WTF is up with that? The second half is a bit rough in the front seat but the back seat isn't too bad. All in all...I would probably never ride it again.

Ask Mark Shapiro a Question!
JimmyBo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Are you looking into building any new theme parks in the future? I heard there is a "Decades Park" for Arizona that is floating around the air waiting for some money and approval. Do you think a Six Flags Park in Arizona will work? I sure as hell think a park in AZ will help this state a lot. Plus, if you need someone to run it I'm still here in AZ -
^ I thought the price of a slice of pizza was $6.39. I think you may need to do more research into pricing of food at parks. Seriously, 10cents can save you a lot in the long run. 10 cents can get you 3 pieces of Bazooka Bubble Gum My thought on Queue jumping systems is that they totally rock. I prefer line jumping but that usually gets you thrown out of parks so I have stopped doing that. I seriously prefer all parks should do what Disney does and make their Queue jumping stuff free. Just put your ticket in and come back at a certain time. If you don't like the time then deal with it, you can always go after the time spot on the ticket anyway. Jimmy "I'm the NPC Chairman" Bo

“Niagara’s Fury is an extreme experience like no other. It will change you in a way you never imagined. The real question is, Will you Survive?” asked Jim Williams, NPC Chairman.” Sweet! I didn't know I was the NPC Chairman. I guess I should know what the hell is going on since I'm advertising the damn thing. Anyway, I think it will be like the Grand Canyon overlook thing but then suddenly give way and dropped tourists down into a net like the SCAD towers. JimmyBo "I'm the NPC Chairman" Williams
