PTR - The old man tags along on TPR's China trip
JimmyBo replied to OldJJman's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great stuff so far Jeff. It always amazes me how many damn pictures you take but then nearly all of them are so damn amazing. Hopefully you did your signature "panoramic shot" with the Great Wall that you can stitch together later. Those are always great to look at. How was that hike for a smoker? Jimmy "Jeff is old" Bo -
Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
JimmyBo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good to see that you guys made it over there in one piece. I bet all the tourists are gone and BeiZING is pretty deserted since the Olympics just ended. Perfect timing for a trip. Try to have fun and try not to leave too many people behind from over sleeping! Jimmy "Is it tomorrow in China now?" Bo -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Looks like a nice addition to the park...although...it looks very unsupported. Seriously, it looks like it might need some more supports or the thing will fall over from a heavy wind. This definitely looks like a great ride but it still doesn't give me the urge to run there next year. Maybe when and if they get a new coaster I might take another trek back there. Jimmy "WTF is up with that lift?" Bo -
Eloy put out a news report early this month about the new Decades theme park. The video shows some of the model of the proposed theme park (which I have yet to find a picture showing the entire thing) and also includes some computer animated shots of two of the new rides. Here's the link... http://www.azpbs.org/horizon/flash.asp?ID=956&vidnum=3 Enjoy!

Go to Mexico, you'll have more fun...trust me! -
I can't wait to see this Heart Of America Tour Big Man. I've always wanted to travel to the parks in that area. Silent K and I had a mini Midwest Tour (before TPR's) but we never really made it to some of the parks you are hitting up. I can't wait to see the updates. Jimmy "Flying these days sucks" Bo

Speak to the Kraut
JimmyBo replied to KrautWithAltitude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey Norman, I just found this thread and I want to say thank you for answering so many questions that I had that previous posted have posted. Here's my question for you... Do you guys hire a local survey team to get you the topography for an area that a ride will be placed or do you guys have your own survey team that goes all over the world to collect the topo for you. I understand some places want you to flat grade the area and some want you to keep the topo as much as possible. Just ondering who gets you guys the topo and if you recieve it in a CAD drawing. Thanks in advance if you have an answer! -

Lagoon amusement park
JimmyBo replied to tanthonyam's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Get there when the park opens! I can't stress this enough about this park. You can seriously conquer this park if you get there right when it opens and head for Wicked and then Spider. If you want to do the whole park in 2 hours you can. I don't recommend the water park portion since it might be a bit chilly in October. Have fun! It's a great little park! Photo Trip Report - Silverwood Theme Park
JimmyBo replied to JimmyBo's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^ I walked through the waterpark but didn't take any pictures because I didn't want to be the guy taking pictures of people in bathing suits. And as for the swimup bar? I did the walk-up bar twice! I was surprised they served beer at the park but no agruement here. Jimmy "Silverwood is awesome people...go now!" Bo -
Photo TR: Chuck Looks Back at TPR's Europe Trip 2008
JimmyBo replied to cfc's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great stuff so far Chuck and it's nice to see some members from the Yellow Hat Club present. As always, I love the captions for your pictures. Keep it up and I can't wait to see what you have to say about the parks because one's thing's for sure, you definitely tell it how it is in your trip reports. Jimmy "Wished he could have joined you but maybe next year" Bo -
I took a trek up to Silverwood this past weekend and I must say that I was very impressed with this place. Before you all ask, NO, Aftershock was not open. With that out of the way onto the things I enjoyed about this place. Tremors and Timber Terror immediately climbed into my Top Ten Wooden coasters. These things were insane. Tremors wasn't running too good in the morning but I am glad I went back on it in the afternoon because once it heated up, it ran really fast and smoother than the morning. The gift shop fly-through was cool and I loved the use of the tunnels on the ride. Timber Terror just hauled butt the entire ride and gave some good moments of air-time. Both of them were great coasters. Corkscrew, the original from Knott's Berry Farm, hurt and ran a little too fast for my taking. All of the flat rides were pretty standard except Sky Diver which I have never seen anywhere else before. It's a unique Ferris Wheel-type ride but you can turn the cars upside-down but not like a Rock O- Plane. The rapids ride...well...probably the best rapids ride I have been on in the United States. Everyone on the raft came off completely soaked. All in all, this was a great park and I will definitely make a trip back up there once they have Aftershock open. From some of the conversations I heard from the locals, I think Aftershock will be a real winner for the park. Onto the pictures... All in all, Silverwood was a great park and had some world class coasters. I highly recommend going to this park. It was a great day and the atmosphere was amazing. Here's looking out towards the two wooden coasters which sit nicely in my Top Ten Wooden Coasters Only the best Ice Cream place in any amusement park in the United States. Seriously, when they say big scoops they mean big fother mucking scoops. What can they be talking about now? Where are we going next? Did I mention how awesome the theming was at this park? Paratrooper, THROUGH THE TREES! Another TPR first. Holy hell people, you just saw history twice in the same update. You should give yourself a cookie and if you're diabetic like Dan then sucks to be you Time to get wet biatches! The J's are ready to get completely soaked over every inch of their body Thunder Canyon, the best rapids ride in the United States according to JimmyBo Flat ride #3, Spin and Puke Flat ride #2, "The Sandlot" Tobacco Puking Machine Flat ride #1, Tilt-a-Hurl "I got knocked out on the first turn so it was a great ride from what I remember" By the way, it goes upside-down for those new people to the roller coaster world. This is what you call getting screwed by the cork PAINFUL! Katie and Abby survived and didn't lose their haering aids...maybe it isn't that bad Seriously, if you design a ride that needs this warning then burn the mother down...honestly! Just hurts looking at it It's time to pop the cork and get screwed I see pain over in the horizon Here's the gang waiting for midgets to walk by...Melissa, Courtney, Amy, Dangerous Daniel, Jolly Gentle Giraffe Giant Jeff, Jumpin Jono, Assburgers Andrew, and the main retard JimmyBo Log Flume...seeing a midget is more entertaining than riding their log flume If you read this sign like it's one sentence then it makes perfect sense. In other words, if you don't cut line then we will throw you out of the park so go ahead and cut line Here's the Tiny Toooooooooot doing it's thing Tiny Toot, a credit whore's dream come true. By the way, this park is themed around Garfield...here's the kiddie area. Here's the Sky Diver, never seen this type of ride before and it was truly a different experience. I think all Ferris Wheels should be like this Freefall. Even though its about 175ft shorter than Supreme Scream...Panic Plunge kicks Supreme Screams bootay! Meg, Jolly Gentle Giant Jeff, Jono, Melissa and Katie ready to leave their stomachs in the sky Time for Panic Plunge, where you crap your pants Wooden coaster and drop tower THROUGH THE TREES! This combo has never been done before...its a TPR first! Soak it in! You just experienced history folks Finishing up the turnaround and heading home...complete with more hairtime Another first drop picture...because it was just that awesome! Timber Terror and Panic Plunge (their drop ride) Flying over the hills First drop goodness. Lots of airtime in the back for the first drop but the middle had the most airtime throughout the ride Someone needs to use spell check or go to grammar school Here's a tree vomiting out some track, another weird sign. Next was Timber Terror and it's amazing first drop The guys liked it. Me (black shirt) Uncle David (blue shirt), cousins Andrew (yellow shirt) and Daniel (striped shirt) Another dip before heading back through more tunnels for the finale Tremors used the terrain of the earth very well and a lot of trees came close to the ride Looking up at the massive structure You can hear this thing rumbling throughout the entire park Tremors flys through one of its many turns Plenty of airtime in the back car First drop down underneath the gift shop Tremors starting to head up the lift hill Silverwood definitely ranks up there with the "Weird signs" award. They had some interesting signs, here's one of them. "Don't take your head off and bang it around in the tunnels" Tremors, with a gift shop fly through. I wonder if this is where those GCI guys got the station fly-through idea? Tremors flys by the sign Looks like we are headed the right way...to the coasters Jeff, the jolly gentle giant, points out where we need to go on the park map. Here's Aftershock...nearly complete in all it's Deja Vu glory glory Silverwood, as seen from the road

Photo and Video TR: Phoenix and Tucson Zoo

Photo and Video TR: Phoenix and Tucson Zoo
JimmyBo replied to JimmyBo's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
For some reason the video is not uploading which is weird because I've uploaded many videos on this site. Anyway, I asked Cassie to marry me in front of the flamingos. She thought I was taking a picture but I actually put my camera on video and videotaped the whole thing. I think she was pretty surprised. We ate at Cheesecake Factory that night to celebrate...I'd say it was a pretty good day. The ring in it's box Cassie calling everyone she knows The ring... We're engaged! -
Since there is not much to do out here in Arizona, Cassie and I decided to go to the local zoo's here in Arizona. I grew up in San Diego so the Tucson and Phoenix Zoo's are pretty boring compared the the world famous San Diego Zoo. These zoo's however offer different things than the San Diego Zoo. The Tucson Zoo let's you get extremely clsoe to the animals and every time I have been there I have been able to see all the animals. The Phoenix Zoo had many different animals that I haven't seen at other zoo's. Anyway, Onto the pictures. First I got one of her and then I decided to take our picture together in front of the flamingos...... Cassie has always had her picture taken in front of these guys since she was a little girl Cassie and I decided to walk back over to the flamingos... To get the hell away from these guys. I would run too! Why did the turtle cross the road? Holy hell, it's Pumba! Big Mike says check out his roadshow because it could be coming to a park near you! Cassie's all "Hey look, it's Big Mike." This is how close you can get to the Rhinos...one jump and they can be on the pathway All the monkeys in Monkey Village are these cute little guys They this area called "Monkey Village" where it's like an aviary but with monkeys jumping around you and walking across your feet. Pretty cute Monkeys are funny. Why? Because they act like the Chris "The TPR Bitch" Here's a tiger...but still has a female with him (not shown) More of the "Africa Exhibit" Here's the Phoenix's Zoo "Africa Exhibit" Here's another cute little guy eating food Here's the mama thanking god she finally gave birth and doesn't have to carry around all that weight anymore The Prarie Dog mom had babies less than a month ago...here's one of the little guys Soaking up some rays and about to eat someones finger off Upon arrival we se snapping crazy swimming turtles chillin in the water Next up, the Phoenix Zoo...and it was only 105 that day by 11am. One last picture at the Tucson Zoo and I give you the world's largest rodent. No joke! Elissa will be proud. Jaguar sitting in the shade...he was hot Flamingos...more on these guys later... The otters were awesome and very amusing. Zebra's landscape...believe it or not but there is a parking lot and golf course just on the other side of that fence. Ebony and Ivory living together in complete CHAOS! Rhino Butt If you don't want that horn shoved up where the sun don't shine...then don't hop the fence...common sense Here is the "special" elephant. Every time I go to this Zoo he is dancing. I think he just keeps rocking out to some tune in his head. Dumb animal I'm just checking out Simba...great landscaping for a small zoo But the male and female lions are still together On a sad note, the female Tiger just recently died and the male Tiger has been roaring and moaning every day...I think he misses the female Hello Mr Tiger...you are very close. Can I pet you? Tiger...meow Cassie pushing a button to make a frog throw up nasty malaria water As you can tell, the locals love it. Since it gets extremely hot here in AZ, they decided to add a kids water play area last summer Anteater, voted the 2nd weirdest looking animal behind the duck-billed platypus At the Tucson Zoo they let you ride the back of the Polar Bear...pretty cool! Polar Bear? In Arizona? Yep...and he was hot The back end of a "special" giraffe I would hate to have to bend over like that every time I wanted a sip of beer...that would suck My sister decided to feed the giraffe, this was her reaction...classic! Hey Wes, this giraffe wants to lick you My sister decides to play turtle for the day Now that's a creepy animal! They donated this bench for her late Aunt Cassie sitting at her Nana's bench Here's a bear just chillin Park Map. Fairly small but you get up close and personal to the animals Reid Park Zoo, in Tucson

^ i know they haven't started building yet but I was just wondering as to what state the land was in. If it's a fairly flat piece of land then construction will be smoother and quicker but if it's a hilly section of Eloy then I wonder how they will use the terrain to their advantage. Jimmy "Been on construction sites before so I know how this stuff works" Bo

I would drive a couple hours and go to State Line and ride Desperado at Buffalo Bills. I think if he doesn't crap his pants on that ride then he's good enough to keep. Of course, you can always come out to Arizona and check out the amazing P.O.S. "theme park" we have out here and thank god that you live a lot closer to better theme parks then us poor Zonies. JimmyBo replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like you guys are doing the Texas/NM trip I took last year. Its great to see some of the parks a year later with new additions. I didn't make it to the new Western Playland but it looks liks I will have to get out there one of these weekends. Great reports!
