Best B&M Standup
coasterbilly replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've ridden Mantis, Chang, Vortex @ PC, and Iron Wolf, so far it belongs to Mantis, I love it's drop and the twister layout after the MCBR. I thought Chang would take it this past summer but it honestly was a calf-killer, I seriously hurt it after riding, it hurt to walk for a while after riding. Vortex and Iron Wolf were pretty decent, but not the best. I'll be riding Georgia Scorcher this summer, so I won't vote until I ride that one because it looks quite good -
Your favorite coaster tunnel
coasterbilly replied to chavslayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a tie for me, it's either the tunnels on The Beast (especially the finale double helix tunnel at night) or the tunnels on Bizarro at SFNE, I LOVE misted tunnels and they give you two awesome ones! -
Poll: Favorite Inversion?
coasterbilly replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
easily Zero-G, depending on the coaster you totally rely on your restraint to keep you in your seat, out of control. The Inline-Twist and Immelman are close seconds! -
Best and Worst Log Flumes
coasterbilly replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls is the epitime of Log Flumes, it's heavily themed, you get drenched, and it's long. So far the worst for me is SFGAdv's, you go up a hill and do lots of zig zags forever...i mean FOREVER until the final hill that has a tiny splash where you barely get wet, my homepark but definitely the most boring log flume, sorry GAdv -
Homeboy's 2010 Cross-Country Adventure
coasterbilly replied to Homeboy23's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
great TR! Been seeing a lot of Carowinds and Kings Dominion (thanks for those) but SFA hasn't a lot lately. I feel pretty bad for that park, Two Face gets taken out and they havent received any new coaster since Batwing, so hopefully SF does them a nice favor and gets them a good coaster next season for the anniversary -

coasterbilly replied to Steelinwood's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice report, always nice to see someone enjoying 2 of my home parks (SFGAdv is my true home park, but I go to school in PA so these 2 have been mine for 4 years too ). And Eltorogirl84, when was the last time you went to Hershey?? I hear what you're saying about Wildcat's roughness, but they did add Millennium Flyer trains 2 years ago that has immensely improved that ride. -

Dude still amazing stuff! On your comment about mine, Diamondback is currently my favorite B&M out there followed by Apollo, I definitely see Intimidator and Goliath both being serious contenders, thanks for your input! Keep the pictures coming man! -
alright I've read through this whole thread and this has been a great discussion! I honestly think mega-lites WILL find there way to the states, and maybe even sooner then we think. Yes the GP is important, but we all know Amusement Parks read forums just like these to keep in mind what's hot with enthusiasts these days, over seas is getting all of the Mega-Lite love and if any park read this thread finding out that most of us would book the next flight if a Mega-Lite was built somewhere, I'm sure they'd consider it. With that being said and based on COASTERS the park has, not space (come on, Hershey is one of my home parks. You can't tell me with Great Bear and Storm Runner's unique designs, fitting in Fahrenheit where they put it, and squeezing a very decent waterpark in the middle of Wildcat and Lightning Racer, that they can't do that for anything else? You're all retarded lol), I feel that Lake Compounce, Holiday World, Knoebels or Dorney Park would be near perfect for one. Lake Compounce has been advertising Boulder Dash forever (it's well deserved, not taking that away from one of the best woodies anywhere) and they only have another mediocre woodie and a Boomerang, so a Mega-Lite would fit because it's a small footprint. One other thing to note: who is their competition? SFNE. What ridiculously amazing coaster do they have there? BIZARRO. So if LC was to put in something of there own that could potentially kick as much ass as Bizarro, I think they would consider it. Holiday World, which has been said before, is the land of woodie heaven. They put in the very unique and awesome Pilgrim's Plunge and now Wildebeest, both solid and different rides. I love the place for woodies (as does everyone else), but I think they need to play the steel card soon, they could really open up a HUGE can on the industry with putting in something like this. Mega-Lites can range in height and size (I305 proves this), so they can cater it to whoever they want if they are that worried about keeping the family atmosphere. Lastly, they own 3 woodies in the top 20 of Golden Ticket, if they had a chance to stamp a top ride in the steel category the park would boost visits like crazy. Dorney Park. Someone said it earlier, if their is a park that deserves something new it's this place. We got a medium sized B&M floorless and got leftovers from Gueaga Lake with Voodoo/Possessed over the last couple of years, not to mention we lost Laser. I had been hearing for a while GCI was rumored to be on the bill for us next which I was stoked about, but they all went to VF, WoF, and CP next year, so that's out the tube. A Mega-Lite would be amazing here using Lasers old footprint and bringing the ride up to that open field by Steel Force's station, so they definitely could do something there. Not to mention we have 2 Beemers, a Morgan, an old woodie, and now an Intamin Impulse, a 2nd Intamin of this stature would be awesome, plus with how unique Hydra and Talon are, we could see some more uniqueness with a Mega-Lite installed. Then finally, Knoebels. This one goes hand in hand with Holiday World, but this place has more tradition. It's another woodie haven and a very hot vacation spot with the camping sites. I love what Elissa said, this place could dominate a Mega-Lite with it's location in the woods, leaving as many trees as possible, making night rides also out of control. Sure the place is old and traditional, but bringing out the latest technology could be something this park considers in keeping up with the industry. So, these are all of my opinions and what I see. Mega-Lites really can benefit anyone, but for those that are saying CP, SFGAdv, SFMM, etc, definitely not, I also saying definitely not to Hershey simply because our last 2 were Intamins and we need to move forward I think. They all have there skylines that are dominated by bigger coasters, someone talked about SFMM with Terminator earlier, a Mega-Lite would honestly be lost in parks like those. Smaller parks like these that have a nice array of coasters that would put them on the map for sure if they were to make an investment like this!

nice report but wow that would hurt A LOT to be there for those 2 rides and they end up being closed. That happened to me 2 years ago, went down to BGE to get on Griffon and it also was closed for a week to repair a part on the lift hill, the only reason I went down. But I did return that next spring and rode 3 times and it was amazing, so go back later on and you won't be disappointed! -
wow Europa Park looks phenominal, I know when I have to choose some parks to do over in Europe, this is definitely one of the top ones, thanks for sharing!!

coasterbilly replied to saginawhxc's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
hey man! This trip is nearly identical to mine minus Dollywood this summer! So far this is a great report, I'll be interested to see your comparison of the 3 B&M hypers (Goliath, Intimidator, Apollo's Chariot) of your trip because I'm excited to see how those end up next to Diamondback, Raging Bull, and Nitro too (all of which I have ridden ). Keep up the awesome work man can't wait to see the rest! -

very nice PTR, I'm loving all of these reports of these trips because I'm going in July, we have heard all about the Intimidators, but I'm curious how Thunder Road is running since the renovation from GCI?? -

boy this park looks fantastic, perfect array of rides, one of the best woodies in the world and honestly those additions for 2010 just add to the track record of rides, definitely a place to hit once I get to parks overseas! -
Kumba is indeed amazing! Proves that the original is better then the sequels nice report, I haven't been down there since Sheikra or Manta so I definitely need to get back down there to experience them, I will take your word on Sheikra vs. Griffon, Griffon blew my mind especially with the width of the trains

So how about that Phillies breakdown last night in the 9th! Up 3-0 bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and Troy Glaus hits a 2-run homer then Jason Heyward skys one to tie it up! Then in extra innings Nate McLouth finishes it off, unreal ending and amazing for Atlanta

What Was the Last Beer You Drank?
coasterbilly replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
in a fraternity and our pledge class just got in so we had a keg of Coors Light and a Labatt Blue keg (which I honestly like), the beer I'm enjoying throughout the week is Bud American Ale, delicious in my opinion -
Poll: GCI vs B&M Invert
coasterbilly replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would go with a GCI if I were you, gauranteed awesome rides, re-rideability, and to be honest, they age AMAZINGLY. Lightning Racer is 10 years old this year and still runs like glass, it's amazing, some beemers start to ensue headbanging, so for future standpoints, GCI is for you. Plus, with that budget, a woodie allows you to have plenty left over, just look at how GCI has been pumping out coasters that have all gotten rave reviews, so that'd be the choice if that were me! -

coasterbilly replied to coasterdude5's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
nice report! Kings Island is one of my top 5 parks I've been to, kind of surprised about your Diamondback review though, that ride quickly became my favorite B&M to date (although I have Intimidator and Goliath @ SFoG ahead of me this summer), and my favorite comment was your Beast night ride, people don't give this coaster the respect and love it still deserves!
