Dorney vs Hershey
coasterbilly replied to JayB18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not to mention that it isn't that big, most Beemers have large inversions, smoothness, and speed. Hydra isn't that fast, the transitions between inversions are quirky and not that smooth, and it honestly loses pacing immensely after the cobra roll. I still like it but have to agree that it's one of the worst floorless coasters out there (I even like Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE better). As for the park, Hershey. You can do Dorney in a few hours, Hershey you can do all day plus Chocolate World, it's just a beautiful place with honestly one of the best selection of coasters anywhere. Love Dorney but they need some more attractions still. -
Most Intense B&M!
coasterbilly replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
obviously Batman is taking the cake and I agree because they are very tight rides... but that's what makes them so intense. As far as elements go I will hop on the bandwagon with the Pretzel Loops on the flyers, but a new entry into the thread, and for me personally, is Nitro's helix before the MCBR. I always get a little fuzzy toward the end of it, it's nuts and so forceful, yes the rest of the ride is smooth and full of floater air, but that part always gets me, anyone else? -
Dorney Park Crowds
coasterbilly replied to rockbook2000's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
that's why I love having this park 45 minutes from me at home and at school, one of the most re-rideable parks anywhere, you always get more then your money's worth at DP on both sides. Have a blast, DP also has way better flats then SFGAdv does -
Best Re-ride Roller Coasters
coasterbilly replied to AviatorCoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
yeah honestly my favorite re-rides are definitely Talon because it's just a great invert with the perfect amount of forces, and not to mention Steel Force because of how long it is. But, my all time favorite so far is definitely Lightning Racer at Hersheypark, no one is there, and those who ARE there are wild, which makes every ride so much fun. -

cool stuff, you don't see much about this park too often, looks quite decent of a place! Question, I'm hitting up Holiday World this summer, how far is SFKK from there exactly, I might consider heading down there to check it out if it's not terribly far. -

sweet report, cool that you got to go there for a while! How long did you get to stay in the park for? -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
coasterbilly replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Unbelievable! You gotta love the variety CF has been putting out with the GCI's in the midwest the last 2 years, the 2 massive beemers in Ohio and Canada, and now this Intamin Giga and who knows at Carowinds! The east coast is going to be hopping next year, go KD! -
aww that report brought back memories, what a great park BGA is. I went the year before they unleashed Skeikra and it was still a secret when I was there. The only disappointment for me was the fact that Rhino Rally was down so I never got to experience it, is that ride still up and running? Sheikra definitely looks awesome, I've been on Griffon at BGE and that ride definitely made my top ten! Very cool report thanks for sharing!

Favorite first drop on a Steel Coaster

Millennium is pretty self explanatory but my new recent favorite is Griffon in the front on an end seat, so sick. -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
coasterbilly replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll put in some! BEST: Talon: the 90 degree bend into an airtime filled last hop into the brakes is so fun. Big Bad Wolf- Drop to the river is still one of my favorite parts on any ride anywhere Lightning Racer- Going over and under the other track and doing a flyby speed curve into the breaks is so exciting because you see if you win! The Beast- Double helix in those tunnels (esp at night) is so nasty. El Toro- Inside Rolling Thunder, bouncing back and forth and left in right makes you feel like you're really bull riding! WORST: Alpengeist- Prolly the reason it's not in my top ten, after the final inversion (corkscrew) the ride loses speed and you coast around the bends to the breaks Hydra- It was said earlier, after the cobra, it dies. Great Bear- One of my favorite rides, but would be better if you didn't crawl into the breaks after such a speedy and smooth ride. -
Underrated Coasters?
coasterbilly replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
alright my turn! My opinions would have to go to: Big Bad Wolf- Ok I know everyone hails this as the best suspended out there and it totally is, but in regards to regular steel list, this thing should be higher, just went this weekend for opening day at BGE and good lord for being 25 years old, one of the most out of control steel coasters ever built Talon- B&M silent invert, one of my favorites, I never have a bad ride on this B&M, smooth, fast, perfect in length, love it. Great Bear- For some reason, the two PA B&M inverts don't get love. Besides Alpengeist, B&M had the most challenging time with this ride compared to probably any other. Amazing drop, 3 quick and swift elements, and the corkscrew comes out of no where. This ride also is in my top 10 of best coasters to ride at night anywhere, so amazing. Great White- This one isn't on the list yet, Morey's Piers has a gem with this ride, a classic CCI (before it became GG). It goes under the pier, has floater air, a nice layout, and just an awesome location on the beach, absolutely loved this ride. Deja Vu- Every one writes this ride off, but I think they are amazing. Nothing like hanging 90 degrees and flying over the cobra roll and the loop forward and backwards, plus the unique seating had me laughing the entire way through, so cool. -
Most Overrated coaster?
coasterbilly replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dueling Dragons is probably mine honestly, the thought of a dueling invert was sweet but unless you're in the front, it's blah. Plus if you built either by themselves the rides both wouldn't be that great. -

man thats a depressing report dude I'm hitting up KD in early August and absolutely LOVED my trip there in 2003 so we'll see what happens, hopefully Dominator still rocks cause I loved it at Geauga (plus the location in Ohio was much much cooler so boo you parking lot). -

coasterbilly replied to natatomic's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
well finally #3 opened here in the northeast and most likely the best one! Awesome report, this makes me even more excited to head back to school in August to get me to Hershey and see how this coaster is, I personally loved Maverick but this one looks to be much more enjoyable! -
man this would be pretty unfortunate if this was to all fall into place. Laser definitely is the most intense, while it's not my favorite at all I still like to get some rides while I'm there just because of how classic it is because it's a Shwartz for crying out loud. I hope Dorney sees what wonders Voodoo will do for that side of the park because of the people Laser will get cause I also think Laser is one of the few rides that I consider "Dorney" as well, let's see what happens.

2007 Mitch's Wooden Poll Results Are In
coasterbilly replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
pretty sweet list, been on 4 out of the top 10, yipee El Toro, definitely should make it to #1 sometime I'm hoping. Should be heading to Holiday World myself next summer so hopefully I can make my decision too, as well as Evil Kneivel!
