I am such a big fan of Tower Of Terror but that Dark Castle drop ride at Phantasy land looks like it rocks anyone been on it?
-
Last time I was out there Desperado was giving what I would call painfull airtime in all areas of the train, and keep in mind that Manhurtin Express just got new trains and from what I hear is much smoother (but don't expect a B&M) than it was
-
Speed is great in any seat - Canyon Blaster is IMO best in the front and Manhattan will be the most smooth in the front - Also keep in mind the Stratosphere Coaster is gone so there are only 3 in vegas now unless you are speaking of Desperado in which case it doesn't matter where you sit it will hurt

Knotts: Potential for Greatness
ScottBrown replied to ed_orangeco_cali's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
and thats why in the last few years I have avoided all of the California Chain parks It's funny how SCBB is run better then any Six Flags, Paramount or Cedar Fair Park - why? Because they still care -

Rides that will never happen

The Zipper IMO is one of the most wild unpredictable flats out there sometimes it can be a spin n' puke other times not so much it depends there are a bunch of clips of it on youtube if you want to see what it looks like in motion -

I am going to end up on the "never had a bad day at Knott's" side of all of this. My normal trip down there always ends up being SFMM first Knott's last and after the last trip SFMM made Knott's look like the most well run park out there IMO I think Knott's has it's up days and down days and some of us have been lucky and never been there on a down day and some of us have only been there on down days - -

I know what to call it! The Nutsquisher 3000!!! Yeah after riding a KMG Tango I just think this idea with the forces involved in a roller coaster would hurt -

Nearly anything by Eyerly is pretty bad along with the Larson High Roller/Crazy Trains and the older Larson Super Loop/ Ring Of Fire models -

The first drop kind of reminds me of a much smaller version of what the Rattler once had -

I dunno I mean Roar looks like it should give air in several places but it doesn't deliver -
Parks With Insane Rides

Butler Amusements in California tends to run all of thier rides at crack speed wherever they set up - As far as an inpark ride I gotta give SCBB credit for the ride cycle on Fireball -

Does GCI not believe in airtime - Seriously they are so good at twisters but they don't seem able or willing to do anything else -

I was on Revoulition at PGA with a bunch of friends and while it was hanging upside down there was a loud pop and the entire row of lap bars popped up just enough to scare the crap out of all of us, it was probably only and inch or so but whan hanging upside down that was enough to be a bit frightning -
Sound like you have a great trip planned, in Vegas be sure to see all of the touristy things like the Bellagio Fountains, the Mirage Volcano, and Old Town - Also if you are driving be sure to stop by Stateline to get the crap beaten out of you by Desperado, I think there is a shuttle there from the MGM Grand but I don't know if it still runs
-
hey double posts are great if you are making a good point that needs to be made - It's funny because I remember a while back someone asking about the pre drop dip on B&M coasters and no one reacted this way
-
yeah look at the Vortex at PGA its a dip and a flat unbanked turn. . . verry Arrow like, but over the years they have added banking and a dip there really is no reason for it just somthing B&M does to make the ride more interesting I imagine

Who else has ridden Insanity?
ScottBrown replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
but that view looking down the leg of the tower Insanity provides is great -
It's not a stupid question, and if anything they are there because the park wanted them there remember the park pays the multi million dollar price tag and they get the final say as far as the design goes
-
Most of the B&M coasters that turn out of the station have a set of drive tires that match the trains speed to the lift speed which is probably to reduce the tug on the chain - But as far as why the turn exists in the first place it all IMO is the way the coaster was designed to fit the area the park wanted it in
-
Most forceful coaster you've been on.

I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said - * Top Gun at PGA turn after the loop and helix on the water * Goliath helix * Boomerangs, Invertigos and Deja Vu's loop when heading into it backwards
