Coasters at Night
ScottBrown replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Santa Cruz Giant Dipper is incredible at night, other than the lights and views the cold night ocean air seems to make it run a bit faster -
Most Overrated coaster?
ScottBrown replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good luck with that one, just remember when they say to hold the grip bar for the whole ride they mean it . . . hold on to it as if every bone in your body depended on it -

Love the lights running down the track that change with the direction of the train, it reminds me of the lighting the Tidal Wave had. -
Most Overrated coaster?
ScottBrown replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Desperado, my God talk about rolling down a hill in a trash can . . . the layout is one uninspired rough element after another and the most painful air time I have ever experienced by far -
How did you end up here???
ScottBrown replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it was Coasterbuzz where it all started around 2001 or 2002 until they got super bitchy (especially after the accident on the Raven) then followed you over to Westcoaster until the birth of this site -
The end of a thrilling decade.

Paramounts Great America opens the first flying coaster then removes it less than 10 years later. We lost many classic Schwarzkopf Coasters The Santa Cruz Giant Dipper turned 80 and the park turned 100 B&M Hypercoasters get a new train design D.H. Morgan is bought by Chance Rides The Stratosphere opens two insane rides that send riders off of the side of the tower, and removes the High Roller roller coaster Bonfante Gardens against all odds manages to continue to operate -
I'm just pointing out the obvious: Humans suck at operating machines. Computers do it better! If you think I'm dancing on graves, you've figured me wrong. Bring on Skynet! I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, I remember a few years ago when the airport out here added a computer operated tram system it had several accidents and closed after about a month

Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!

So do we have a park that Elissa dislikes more than Knott's now? -
Sadly I dont think this is the case Paramount put quite a bit into the park in the early years ie. Top Gun,Drop Zone etc. but after years of red tape via the City of Santa Clara they just kind of gave up on it, which I hope CF won't end up doing as well but I can see them getting frustrated and selling it if this kind of thing keeps up

Surprise crotch buster

Never had a problem with a coaster however the Riptide provided a sansation that can only be described as like being kicked in the nuts and nuts in a vice grip all at once, it caught me way off guard. I expected some discomfort on rides like Vortex and of course Tango but Riptide never even crossed my mind -
I think the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper is often lost among newer coasters and is rated much lower in the polls than it should be of course I always thought Flashback was underrated as well

Well, do remember that Psyclone actually was a GREAT ride when it first opened. So was Colossus. To add to that so was GhostRider... Hmmm..... --Robb Thank you, few people remember Psyclone in its youth with the slam you into the side of the car drop. That was such a great ride . . . briefly. And in all fairness Ghostrider doesn't quite belong in the Psyclone Colossus group yet, it still is a pretty good coaster, it's no Grizzly thats for sure (of course Grizzly is the odd man out as it was never a good coaster) whats up with the Moreys GCI looks like they are attempting a Hades like coaster.

Dunno about Oregon, I was born there and while I never recall an earthquake there it is close enough to the insane fault nightmare that is Humbolt where the quakes when big enough should be pretty powerful up there, I remember vividly the quakes in the early 90's I went through where a 7.1 hit complimented by a 6.9 and 6.7 the following day and all three were felt from San Diego to Vancouver so I imagine Portland got a pretty good jolt. Wow including the 1989 and Northridge I have pretty much been through every major earthquake on the west coast that has hit in my lifetime, I guess they must follow me

Hey Robb And Elissa hows it shakin' . . . watching it on the news and thought of you two, mainly Elissa freakin out, I know we had talked about that before, at least it was a baby quake. Lets hope Colossus took on some damage

How many times the same ride in a day ?
ScottBrown replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The CGA Tidal Wave was ideal for multiple rides I would guess I have probably hit 40-50 in a single night before, I used to marathon that one every chance I would get. Others include the SCBB Giant Dipper and yes even Flashback (28 times) in its final operating season
