  1. That's good to know! It would be interesting to see where some of those classic rides have resurfaced today. Im pretty sure the old Chaos ended up in San Diego can anyone confirm that? Last time I checked Typhoon is sitting in a fenced area in the back of the main parking lot
  2. Lets just all pray it isn't a Pinfari XP56
  3. Oh lord I think the tower sways quite enough as it is without any holding brake up there
  4. I would think it is more like American park: Ride has a wheel assembly f**k up it will never reopen and ride stalls on lift hill they close it down for months
  5. Ahh, the Chairswings from HELL!!! And they malfunctioned twice that day - in two different ways! Ahhhhh yes I remember that day well, first they wont stop spinning then they wouldn't start spinning
  6. Yeah it doesn't help that it happened on a kiddie coaster does it that makes it alot worse
  7. I never said I felt sorry for him, I feel sorry for the people on the coaster and anyone that witnessed it
  8. I was in the industry for seven and also had not a single close call but I did learn in those years that people do lack good judgment at times, I am assuming he thought he could make it across the tracks before the train would get to him
  9. It happens there was a big train accident in Spain yesterday and 12 people were killed as a group of about 30 people crossed the tracks and were hit by an express train
  10. I don't know about that there was an Accident on Scream at SFMM where and employee was struck by a train a while back and I seem to remember there being an accident on Revolution as well that involved an employee as well
  11. Here is the link to the story http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/06/24/BA661E42FL.DTL&feed=rss.bayarea
  12. I have had the same problem with Flight Deck at CGA in the turn after the vertical loop and clenching your stomach does help however I have also noticed that other things can make you more prone to grey outs such as having eaten or being tired
  13. You know you love that "death spiral" drop and the double helix finale. Nor Cal Flashback...hardly. At least this thing was exciting! What I really miss was the entrance to the walk from the San Lorenzo River, under the train tressel. It made parking in the "official" Boardwalk lot very convenient! That Wild Mouse looked like something wicked. The Boardwalk still sells their coffee table book which is great for us histori-nuts. Well worth the investment. I think Flashback may have been smoother that "death spiral" has nothing on the ground level turns of the Jet Stars
  14. I miss the Jet Stars it was far superior to the Hurricane, I also miss the old Cave Train with all of the waterfalls
  15. This just popped up on Facebook . . . "Dearest fans of Intrimidator 305, we are deeply sorry for the biggest mistake we have made in our 36 year history: the trim brakes on this ride's drop. Our first intention was to get rid of the "blackout" on the first turn. Once we had installed the brakes, we realized that this prolonged the blackout. This coaster will soon regain its reputation as the biggest, baddest, and meanest roller coaster on the East Coast!"
  16. But Schwarzkopf had it down to a perfect science Jet Stars Jumbo Jets and The Whizzers managed to pull a turn at the base of the drop with no problem at all
  17. No that is the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper I took the picture myself the San Diego one has teal handrails on it and more of a pink color well it did at one point
  18. Yes loosing a Schwarzkopf Jet Star for any coaster is a tragedy and now that same Jet Star is rusting away in a closed park in Oregon as far as I know wish they would just bring it back and scrap Hurricane
  19. Primarily a lurker here but I had to sympathize with you. Washington State is just as lame. Wild Waves has 4 credits: a just OK woodie that could benefit from being taller, longer, and faster; a rib crushing spine rattling wild mouse; a kiddie coaster; and a decrepit Arrow coaster that is so painful it's not worth the ride (and they cycle you through twice unless you protest). The Puyallup Fair (which is only open 3 weeks out of the year) has 3, 4 if you count the rickety water ride/rollercoaster. My friends and I call it the "dirty water ride" which is self explanatory. At least the Schwarzkopf Wildcat is good for repeat rides and the Coaster Thrill Ride is fun moreso because of its history than actual "thrills". Then we have the 2 at the Space Needle Fun Forest: a kiddie and one of those compact Hurricane coasters that aren't worth the $7 to ride. I haven't been there in a while but the last I heard Fun Forest closed because the lease was up. If that's the case there goes 2 credits. It's a sorry state of affairs we have up here in the Northwest corner of the country. Yes the Windstorm is in Texas now, sad because I found it to be the best of its kind strange how the same coaster in Santa Cruz sucks
  20. As far as I know the smart people that bought homes next to the park knowing that it was there started complaining about it, anyone have a better explanation ? My opinion is simple if you don't want to deal with the sights and sounds of an Amusement Park don't buy the house next to one
  21. Well a long wait for a new coaster is to be expected how long did the lines for x get opening year, I agree they did overhype it just a bit and it is not x by a long shot but it is a pretty cool idea and has taken Roller Coasters to a completely new place and I cant wait to see where other parks take it in the years to come look what Oblivion and AIR eventually led to. Its not that they cant build anything big it just takes a lot more planning and creativity to do so I would not call Nemesis small by any means
