  1. I read through both plays. I agree with some of the blog commenters. They're both crap, and of not the level work one would expect from a college senior English major. I understand that not every writer can be James Joyce, but come on. Those plays were thinly disguised outlets for expressing his rage.
  2. That's not a great example because the Beast is not maintained very well. And it's also pushing 30 years old.
  3. I agree. I find it odd how TV news has already moved in the direction of framing this awful incident in the context of "the gun control debate". A few politicians are disgustingly trying to cash in on this already, before we've even had a chance to contemplate the magnitude and reality of the situation.
  4. Xcelerator. 20,000 times.
  5. The parks that host these ERT events should consider dropping the requirement that attendees belong to some silly coaster club. Knoebels is already doing so. Maybe TPR membership could be considered sufficient.
  6. I just got a postcard from Borders: "The title you special ordered (Harry G. Traver: Legends of Terror) is currently unavailable. To reorder please contact Borders in one to six weeks. Thank you." This is exactly what I expected would happen. I figured I'd go ahead and try though.
  7. Lucky. That low fare makes me want to expatriate. yeah, the flights cheap, the trip isnt! The trip cost doesn't seem like a bad deal for deluxe accommodations at Phantasialand and ERT on Expedition GeForce.

  9. Good luck. I spent hours searching for fares, and couldn't find anything below $1,300.
  10. I'm sorry you didn't have a nice time at Dollywood. I think it's one of the prettiest parks around. It certainly destroys HW for natural beauty, even though people contantly oogle over how pretty HW is. Next time you go you should contact guest relations and find out what days are historically the most dead. I went on a day where everything was walk-on all day. And believe me that helps. Also some of the water rides like Mountain Slidewinder and Daredevil Falls are among the better attractions in the park. I generally agree with your opinion of Thunderhead. It's a bit overrated. I don't think it has nearly enough airtime. Also, the traffic in Pigeon Forge seems to always be rotten. I've had it take 2 hours to get to the highway from Pigeon Forge. I think this is the main reason I like Wisconsin Dells more than Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg- the traffic is much better in the Dells.
  11. If homosexuality bothers you that much, you could always move to one of the fine countries where it's completely banned- Iran for example.
  12. disneylanddork50 your first thread on this was locked because there was already a thread on this. Junking up the board with another redundant thread is not nice.
  13. There is a recent similar thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=541&highlight=disney+resort
  14. According to the TPR rules, you're gonna need to resize your pics to a maximum of 800x600 and 150k. The pictures are running off the edge of my screen.
  15. Thanks for the pics. This park is definitely on my to do list. Is David Hasselhoff still big in Germany? Maybe Phantasialand could have a "David Hasselhoff Thrill Ride" next. That would be much cooler (and less creepy) than a Jacko ride.
  16. I imagine hopping inflates the WDW attendance numbers as well, but to a lesser degree, because hopping in Orlando is a pain compared to Anaheim. As for the annual passholder visits, every park counts them in their attendance figures. This is no different than my ~4 hour trips to King's Island where I spend literally $0. But, I can see where this would be more of a problem with DCA, as it's so tempting to just get a few laps in on CS and go back to Disneyland. Too much of this sort of thing could make DCA a real eye sore to the bean counters. The answer to this problem is obvious- invest more in DCA!
  17. I disagree that the numbers are crappy for what DCA is. I personally liked it when I went in January, and thought California Screamin' is one of the best coasters in SoCal. But the park is pretty small, and they haven't done much with it. For what they've invested into the park and considering that it's basically a local park, I think the numbers are OK. 6 million guests would only be crappy had Disney massively built up the park recently, and they haven't. We did most of the big stuff at DCA in half a day. And there are seasonal parks that have way more attractions/rides that don't get anywhere near 6 million guests.
  18. How does charging $1 prevent fraud? If they use a stolen card that is tied to an active account, the thief gets the item whether the merchant charges $1 or the full amount.
  19. That's just bizarre, and I think more points to how crappy the banking system is. If it was modern, there would be no need to do these little $1 verifications. All transactions should be instantaneous. But banking computers are like 20 years out of date. So, no real time transactions. Super lame!
  20. Time = money. Waiting out in the cold for hours based on some idiot DJ's lies sounds like a rip off to me. Then again, you'd have to figure that the event would be stupid crowded if some annoying radio station was pimping "free Six Flags" every 2 minutes for weeks on end.
  21. Free give aways often bring out the worst in people. Personally, I avoid them.
  22. ~6 million is crappy? When you consider that California Adventure has far less attractions, hasn't been around that long, and hasn't had any major new attractions for years that figure seems pretty reasonable. Disney has invested far less into DCA than they have into Disneyland, but DCA still gets more than 1/3rd the attendance that Disneyland gets. I bet they haven't invested 1/3rd the money into DCA that they have into Disneyland. DCA got nearly as many guests as SFMM and Knott's Berry Farm combined! You can bet, of course, that DCA wouldn't get nearly as many guests without Disneyland next door.
  23. Bwahahahaha. What's next for Great Adventure? Having homeless guys in the parking lot with squeegees hassling you to pay them to wash your car windows? Maybe they could let street vendors set up in the parking lot to peddle mix tapes and incense.
  24. One train operation on their newest, best coaster? Stupid.
  25. I think it would rock without a bannister. Open designs are nice, and it would give an extra incentive to wait for the front- a totally unobstructed view.
