  1. Three cheers for grade inflation! personally I love weighted averages It took an ok GPA in high school and shot it up more than 20 points Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't understand how you can average above 100% What I hate is when schools arbitrarily go from standard scale to the +/- system. So, basically one semester a 90% = A, but the following semester 90% = A-. LAME!
  2. I find it impossible to study at home. So, I just go the "no talking" floor of the school library, and do my studying there. No distractions there other than shelves full of dusty books.
  3. Three cheers for grade inflation!
  4. @#$@ those "free" lockers at Universal. I wound up having to pay at both Hulk and DD when I went last October, because they screwed up the time necessary for me to get through the queues. This annoyance prompted me to buy a pocket-sized camera case.
  5. I agree that the documentary portion of it was underdeveloped. But it wasn't supposed to be a Christopher Guest movie. It was basically just an excuse for Ali G to pull his typical antics, which are admittedly a niche that not everyone likes. I'm a big fan of Mr. Cohen, and I knew exactly what I was getting into. Spinal Tap is excellent, but I think his later efforts fall severely short.
  6. Magic Kingdoms PotC does have a drop. I know, but it's weak compared to the Anaheim version. Remember that Pirates was never part of the plan for MK. It was shoehorned in due to complaints about the lack of Pirates.
  7. Yeah, but isn't Rockin' just a temporary overlay? The ride system on the Disneyland version is a lot better than the Magic Kingdom version. Not that I dislike MK Space Mountain. I really like it. Though I think rumor has it Magic Kingdom's version is slated to get modernized as well.
  8. Spiderman had a pretty bad wait on the day I went, but I think it was an unusually busy day.
  9. Yes! Pirates almost makes the trip and jet lag worth it all by itself. We did the real Pirates in January, following by the crappy Magic Kingdom Pirates in February. The Magic Kingdom version was a real "WTF" moment for us. "Where's the drop? Where's the rest of the ride?" That's just one reason why I think Disneyland park is better than Magic Kingdom. Fantasyland at DL is much nicer, detailed with those cobbled stone buildings as opposed to the cheap painted wood tents at MK. Space Mountain is better at DL. I could go on...
  10. My only trip to the Universal resort was done in one marathon 12-hour session that included HHN. Based on this experience, I agree that one day isn't enough. You can do the highlights in a day, but you're going to miss a lot of stuff, which is an awful feeling. I didn't get to do Ripsaw falls. Though some people are fine with blowing through parks in a few hours. I think most of the good stuff is in IOA. I don't like simulators or show type attractions much. Mummy is a definite do not miss attraction at the studios side. It's so much better than the lame Hollywood version. You won't regret the trip to Universal, Disney boy Actually, I prefer Disney also, but that's just me.
  11. For an even worse idea, they should rename KI to "Don Knotts Island". They can rename Face/Off, a movie nobody has ever seen in the history of the world, to "Three's Company: The Ride". Why? Because it makes about as much sense as this move.
  12. This TR makes me want to quit my job so I can spend a month at Tokyo Disney.
  13. ^I read that earlier, and I have to say it's the dumbest thing I've read all year. The movie studio that made 300 has one goal in mind- to make money. Most people who see the movie won't even connect the Persian Empire with Iran. 300 barely has a plot. It's just one big fight. The persians in 300 are so exagerrated and cartoonish that no rational person is going to connect them with real people. To think this is some attack on Iran is about as smart as saying Borat is an attack on Kazakhstan. It's not believable nor credible. Maybe they're just mad the greeks whipped their butt all those years ago.
  14. Only LOTR had a plot to go along with the elaborate battle sequences.
  15. I dunno. I think the Kerry campaign was botched. He didn't really have a consistent theme/message/vision. He appeared to be a moving target. Even with all their mistakes, it was a pretty close election. He could have won. Had he been a governor instead of a senator, he may have won. That senate voting record is so easy to use against a presidential candidate.
  16. I was pretty let down by this movie. It's just one long battle sequence, which got pretty boring. Sin City was a lot better.
  17. They're not his wives. They're just women he knocked up.
  18. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070310/NEWS01/703100357/1056/COL02
  19. Nah. All you have to do is win in the battleground states, two of which (OH & PA) are in the North. Had Kerry picked up Ohio, he would be president right now. Besides, GWB is a yankee- Connecticut born and educated at Yale & Harvard. Sure he picked up the Texas accent, but he was known as a "yankee carpetbagger" in his early political career in TX.
  20. I think it is a total rebuild, of the track. The rest of the structure will be preserved. I believe the claim that redoing all the track is cheaper than ripping this thing out. SOB is MASSIVE. Heck, just disposing of the wood would be a feat.
  21. I'm looking forward to seeing this in the morning. $5 before noon showing = #1 I have doubts that it will be as excellent as Sin City, but I'm sure it will at least entertain.
  22. Agreed. Triple agree Quadruple agree, and I'm fully liberal. I personally don't care for her one bit. Hillary is too polarizing, she'd be like the left-wing Bush, which is NOT what the country needs right now. I'm for Obama right now, but I'd support Edwards if he won the nom. Not to mention the fact that she just sucks. She has none of Bill's charisma, and she backs stupid stuff like federal regulation of video games. I think Bloomberg would be decent, as he seems to be more focused running things smoothly than playing politics and robbing government coffers. NYC residents please let me know if I'm off in this observation.
  23. Nice. I just ordered a copy. We'll see if they can pull it off.
  24. Yeah, it's all just speculation really. I kinda doubt Intamin would turn down the SOB project had they been given the opportunity. PKI's money is as green as everyone else's. Their new woodie system would probably have been the best hope of a massive woodie like SOB working well. Colossos and El Toro are almost as big, and are top rated coasters. Though we have to wonder how Intamin woodies would stand up to designs with a lot of curved track like SOB? GCI's Millennium flyer trains are designed specifically to do just that. Then again, SOB is twice as tall as anything GCI has built. Yeah, a friend and I were going through old 70s/80s era pictures of KI the other day. I think it's safe to say that the park has gone downhill. From clear cutting all the trees to removing classic flat rides like the flyers to letting formerly great coasters like the Racer and Beast fall apart. Remember when the Racer didn't cause you to need a kidney transplant? And what happened to all the characters they used to have? I hope they can bring some of the old charm back now that Paramount is out of the picture.
  25. I'd say there's a probability of 0 that KI will move this ride over, and I wouldn't want them to personally. They haven't been taking great care of their woodies recently. The Racer needs a ton of rehab work. I'm sadly missing this credit, and I have heard good things about that ride. A non-enthusiast friend of mine recently described it as "one of those scary coasters that tries to throw you out of your seat". Awesome.
