I'm not sure that Darwinism applies to the present situation with the human race. According to the biological fitness concept, the more genes you recirculate into the gene pool the more fit you are. While this kid obviously isn't going to contribute his genes, it seems that stupid people breed earlier and more often. More cerebral types spend more years getting educated early in life, and consequently breed less, or not at all because of the fertility problems later in life.

EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
ginzo replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Parks retrack coasters? I thought the running scam was for everyone to not retrack so as to send a consistent message to the GP that "woodies = rough". -
EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
ginzo replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, El Toro is easily my most anticipated new credit for this year. I'm just bummed that I have to wait for August to ride it -
We have a recent thread about Cedar Point questions. It's even called "Cedar Point Questions". http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33936&highlight=cedar+point

Millennium Force top speed
ginzo replied to Medusa1861's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Trust no one" - Anton Schwarzkopf (before he was snuffed out by the B&M Mafia) Anton Schwarzkopf (codename AS) is an Illuminati who faked his own death. He is hiding out in Moscow, and serves as one of Putin's most trusted advisors. In fact, none of his so-called coasters really exist. These "coasters" are just lies propagated by the gullible liberal media who hates America and yearns for its destruction. -
No need to get snarky Just count yourself lucky that you don't live near the most expensive airport in the country (according to the DOT). http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2007-01-03-cincinnati-has-nations-highest-airfares_x.htm

Yeah, I don't think you can use whatever super discount tickets you found as a barometer for the average cost of international airfare. My point was self-evident: international flights cost more on average than domestic. You'd be hard pressed to ever find an international fare that low out of Cincinnati (CVG). Delta has us on super rape fares.

Trip Report: Kings Island Opening Day
ginzo replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hate is a strong word. Let's just say that their coaster collection doesn't do it for me. My favorite ride there right now isn't even a coaster; it's Delirium. I like airtime. The Racer, the only coaster at KI with substantial airtime, wasn't dishing it up yesterday. -
$1 million per acre for land in rural Missouri?
-
Quite possibly, but not necessarily. Disney and SDC/CC are going after slightly different markets. This move could also be seen as just an effort to increase overall tourism in the region. A new Disney park, after all, could attract many new visitors to the area that wouldn't have dreamed of going there before. Branson is still viewed by a large number of people as a senior citizens only destination. A Disney park would do a lot to change that perception.

Yeah, but people in Europe can't hop on a plane to Orlando for a few hundred bucks in the winter like we can. And, given this location, there won't be all that many locals. It would be interesting to know how many people are within a reasonable drive from this location. I looked at a population density map, and this region is one of the least densely populated in the country. Perhaps it could support one very scaled back Disneyland-type park. Heck, I hope they do it. I'd love another US Disney resort, even if it is a financial disaster.

Trip Report: Kings Island Opening Day
ginzo replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder if the insurance adjusters are having a field day with King's Island because of the accident last year. This could be the new order at the park: neutered coasters with excessive restraints. There's no way that a mine train needs seat belts. There are several Schwarzkopf coasters that feature inversions and only have a basic lapbar, and they've been running safely for decades. -
I think this is complete and utter crack smoking. The vast majority of the US population lives on the coasts. There is no reason to build in places of low population density. Also, the weather at this location is going to really suck in the winter.

Trip Report: Kings Island Opening Day
ginzo replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Adventure Express now has seat belts. Why does a mine ride need seat belts? Get ready for dark rides with seat belts! -
Lesson learned: do NOT go on opening day. The crowds were beastly today. The season pass processing lines were so long that you could probably have seen them from I-71. They really screwed the pooch with the Maxx passes, as I still have to swap my temporary Maxx pass for the real one. But, I wasn't about to do that today with the 1-2 hour season pass processing line. Fortunately, the temporary Maxx pass still works at the gate, and we got in without having to wait. In the true spirit of Kings Island, Drop Zone and Delirium both broke down shortly after opening. We only rode three things before leaving. Adventure Express: We rode in the second to back. This is still the best mine train outside of Disney parks. The Racer: Believe it or not, the Racer actually had some track work done in the off season. Lots of new track was visible near the turnaround and on the return run. The forwards Racer actually ran pretty smoothly today in the third to back seat, which is usually pretty darn rough. Although I am encouraged by this, there was ZERO airtime on the bunny hops at the end of the course. I hope that this is just them going easy on the new track to break it in gently. Scooby Doo: This had a long queue as always. There were several dead targets, and the targets were exceptionally hard to hit for a family ride. This is still a pretty solid shooting dark ride. I apologize for the lack of pictures. Photoless TRs are pretty lame to me. I'm going try to take some pictures when we return tomorrow.

Give me a break. What's going on here is obvious. You've got a spoiled movie star who makes more in 3 months than most everyone here will make in their entire life. He's used to getting his way all the time. If things don't go his way, he flips out. His behavior demonstrates just how not well adjusted he is. Don't kid yourself here. This sort of childish behavior from celebrities is pretty commonplace. If you don't believe me, I suggest you go read the contract riders for famous musicians on the smoking gun: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/backstagetour/index.html These bizarre requests, including such absurdities as removing specific color M&Ms from the backstage food, illustrate my point: celebrities like Alec Baldwin do not live in the same world that we do. The girl is 11 years old. I think daddy's little rant gives us more than a small hint as to why she lives with her mom.

Operations are usually pretty good at Holiday World. The number of trains will depend on the crowd. I'd expect two trains during the middle of the week, but they'll likely add a third if the line picks up. This is assuming that all trains are ready for the 2007 season. Raven and Legend will probably be running one train if it's a slow day. That's one gripe I have about Holiday World. They seem to be aggressive about taking the second train off Raven and Legend, which would bring the queue from walk-on to 10-15 minutes.

That Larry the Cable Guy sure is a clever guy.

The ride experience on the Voyage varies greatly depending on where you sit. The very front appears to be the most smooth. Other seats can be rougher. I think the ride is better described as intense than rough, but I have had a few cycles that were pretty rough.

http://www.tmz.com/2007/04/19/alec-baldwins-threatening-message-to-daughter This is just sad because Baldwin is talking to his 11-year-old daughter like she's some girlfriend who is avoiding his calls.

What??? Life is about more than beer and boobs? I've got some bad news for you. You're going to encounter this attitude from a majority of students at nearly any university that you attend. Get used to it. You should strongly consider the free education. I'm not sure that someone your age can fully appreciate the burden that massive debt will place on you when you get out of school. Things like buying cars, houses, going on nice trips could be delayed while you are paying off those !@#!@ loans. On the other hand, if you absolutely detest the school, then don't go there. Life is too short for misery.

Politically speaking he doesn't. Blacks don't typically vote Republican, and thus aren't part of his base. So, Bush has little incentive to care.

SOB New Trains from Myrtle Beach
ginzo replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Impossible. The best thing to happen to the ride would be a wrecking ball. Hahahahaha. That would make for an awesome video. I'm certainly going to try SOB with the new trains. If it hurts too much, I won't ride it after that. I agree that this ride is beyond any hope of being fixed into something good. They used a third rate manufacturer, and are paying the price for going cheap. -
SOB New Trains from Myrtle Beach
ginzo replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really can't see SOB making it past 2010 or so now. Does anyone know if it's a bad idea to modify the gauge on trains to something different than what they were designed for? Isn't this usually the sort of situation where manufacturers tell the customer that they're on their own if they do? You know they're going to get creamed in court if there's another accident and it comes out that they're using trains in a way that was not part of Gerstlauer's design. I can't believe that they're going cheap ass with this giant heap of liability. Another accident is going to make them look so negligent. -
CF Maxx Pass Observation...
ginzo replied to GoldRusheROCKS's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I used my Maxx pass from King's Island at Knott's. I had to go to guest relations and get a voucher to enter the park. This was with a temporary paper Maxx pass though. I don't get my real pass until this saturday when King's Island opens.
