  1. I can't believe how much love Riddler's is getting in this thread. It was the roughest thing I rode at SFMM a few weeks back. I had a stiff neck for the rest of the day after riding that piece of crap. It also had a bad case of rattle. I will never ride that thing again. Seeing as how the ride pretty much had a constant rattle I can't imagine it's ever that smooth. I didn't get to ride X, Goliath, or Ninja when I went. But, I'll break down the rides I did get to ride. Tatsu: the loop is a lot of fun, but the ride is overrated other than that. The flying position isn't comfortable. Viper: rough and awful. Vortex and Tennessee Tornado are both better Arrow loopers. Revolution: slow, rough, boring. Such a shame to castrate this masterpiece. Colossus: some airtime in the back seat. Rough, but not completely awful. Not good though. Scream!: I rode this one a lot. It's not great like Kumba, but it's pretty decent. The floorless aspect doesn't add much, and I could kick the seat in front of me if I stuck my legs out. Has some rattle. They should fix it. Batman: one of the better rides at SFMM. My first ride seemed rough, but I think that's because I was still nursing my Riddler's wounds. I love B&M inverts. Has a bit of rattle. They should fix that. Deja Vu: Long line. Rode it one time. Bashed my head. Gold Rusher: a pretty crummy mine train compared to Adventure Express. Canyon Blaster: probably the best kiddie coaster I've ridden. It has little dips that deliver something that resembles airtime. Superman: The launch is weak. I didn't feel that much airtime up the tower. The ride is entirely too short and too loud.
  2. Is it possible to wander into a scene from Deliverance in northern Georgia?
  3. Huh??? They can't stand their own ride being better than one of their other rides?
  4. Maybe according to Cedar Point's web site that's true. But, do you consider the following hypers: Xcelerator Top Thrill Dragster Kingda Ka SOB Superman: The Escape (SFMM) Griffon Sheikra But by most sober accounts none of those are hypers. Hyper is a design philosophy more than anything else.
  5. It's not a new credit. Not unless you also considered the Legend a new credit when they replaced the G-train, or any other coaster that got a new train.
  6. I think they did a great job with Dragster and Maverick, but sometimes, you dont need a theme to create the best coaster there is Great compared to their previous theming efforts, but those could barely be considered efforts. When you look at a truly well-themed ride, like Black Mamba, even CF's best theming attempt to date (Maverick) pales in comparison. For me, the whole park should be a fun experience, not just the rides. There should be awesomeness all around you. At Dollywood, half the fun is just walking around and taking pictures of interesting little knick knacks floating around the park. I think Maverick is going to be awesome, but I doubt it'll be the new #1. It's definitely a step in the right direction.
  7. I think I have a slight idea how CF does things. 1) They're totally incompetent at woodie maintenance. 2) They like concrete and trash cans. 3) According to most accounts, they ruined KBF. 4) A homeless crackhead decorates his box better than CF themes their rides. And duh about moving X-Flight being part of a plan. I just doubt it was planned 4 years ago to move it over to PKI, unless brokering the Paramount Parks deal took way longer one would suppose.
  8. I'm proud of Microsoft for even attempting Vista. This is what they've always needed to do: a complete rewrite of Windows. Of course a lot of stuff is broken. It's worth it to rid Windows of all that awful legacy code. This is the most ambitious software project EVER. Apple could never do anything like this. They just stuck a pretty GUI on top of FreeBSD. Not that there's anything wrong with FreeBSD. I love that platform. It was even fast before Apple got ahold of it. So, I'd say calling Vista a rip off is a pretty ignorant. Microsoft, whatever you think of them, has blazed their own trail here. Will I upgrade? Heck no! I'll still run 2000 for another few years. It works well for me.
  9. Although I'm not personally a fan of horses (one stepped on my foot once), this is pretty sad. That horse was only 4 years old, and was a born champion. His owners were spending tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to save him, even though he had no chance of ever racing again. Horses are an odd species, because 5,000 years ago they were much shorter. Humans selectively bred them into the tall beasts they are today, and as a result their legs are very fragile.
  10. Does turning 18 mean you get kicked out of NAMBLA now Jahan? Happy Birthday!
  11. I also think the coaster part in Orlando is far superior. You can get a pop of airtime in the back seat when you go over the launch hill. Hollywood's version doesn't launch up a hill, and thus has no airtime. And, I agree with Elissa in that the backwards section is pointless. Then again, I'm pretty much against backwards riding in general.
  12. Did Fergie used to be a man? I have no idea who she is, because I hate radio music and don't follow pop at all. Anyway, I saw her on TV on NYE, and that woman has some serious biceps. I imagine she could knock out 99% of coaster enthusiasts with one punch. Her face was pretty manly as well.
  13. I recently went to Universal Hollywood. I don't recommend it. There's basically nothing there. Orlando's Revenge of the Mummy is 100 times better. It's not worth the outrageous admission price, and you'll only get one credit.
  14. I personally don't think Sheikra is all that great. I prefer Montu and Kumba, especially Montu. I still say why not about making it floorless. It could add something to the drop, especially if they hold you over the drop for another few seconds.
  15. Why don't you make her ride with Mantis Man. That'll be some trauma for sure.
  16. Dude, that's really funny. I'm not trying to poke fun at you at all. I just can't think of a dumber reason to not go on a date with a person. I think this just illustrates how awful and unrealistic most women on online dating sites are. It's dumb to turn a potential bf/gf over a hobby. You're never going to like everything about your partner. Never. I actually read online personals just for kicks. They all say same the same garbage. "5 kids. NO GAMES.", "Looking for a 'real man'", "Tired of the games", "Looking for a partner in crime". Etc.
  17. Definitely. Mantis Man has nothing on me.
  18. Enthusiasts have girlfriends? I think that discovery should make the front page of the NY Times.
  19. How many times would he ride X-Flight? Ohio would be proud to have Mantis Man move here. I know just the community for him to live in. It's called "Norwood". OMG, Norwood!! That makes me so happy you have no idea. He would actually be considered normal compared with many people I've met from there. I've been really busy applying and auditioning for a music job here in town, but we'll get together soon. Thanks for making my day, though. I'm still laughing. -james dillaman Norwood is supposedly where Charlie Manson grew up. But, I think that just might be folklore.
  20. I wonder what would happen to Mantis Man if he rode SOB 20,000 times. I remember reading about that guy who marathoned Expedition GeForce for 104 days. He wound up breaking one of his molars from the stress. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/2234589.stm I imagine SOB would cause some sort of fatal injury by the 20,000th lap.
  21. How many bathroom credits does Mantis Man have?
  22. None. I try to avoid nasty PKI food. I do eat Graeter's there quite a bit. You and I would get along quite well. I just got back from Columbus and had the my favorite mint chip while I was there. THEE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD!!! Of course... I think I'm becoming lactose intolerant because I had diarrhea a few hours later. I'm already lactose intolerant. Graeter's has excellent sorbet. Cincy has one marginally better ice cream place (IMO). It's called Aglamesis.
  23. None. I try to avoid nasty PKI food. I do eat Graeter's there quite a bit.
  24. Hey, I rode the Racer back when it had buzzbars. I remember the year they put the stupid ratcheting lapbars in. It had MASSIVE airtime in the back seat after the turn around, especially when you were 14 and skinny. Does posting this earn me a free ACE card?
