Dusty Dance NL
dr.gumbo replied to coastb2's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^ Changing the track style doesn't make it a new ride. I could change the track style of loads of my ride's and release them but I don't because alll I'm doing is wasting peoples time. The idea was good, just don't milk it for every penny its worth. -

I guess for my next ride I'll just randomly place track all over the place, put a floor over it and I'll be called a creative genius. Seriously though, he has done this before. He's just rehashing an old idea. -

The flaming fireball competition
dr.gumbo replied to the ghost's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'm not sure this contest is really going to work. Your asking people to do something they don't really want to do (In other words, your quenching their creativity). Why don't you try and recreate it yourself? I'd like to what you come up with. -
^ I've tried top hats a few times, but every time it ended up as a mess. They're probably one of the hardest element to actually make well with perfect laterals. As for the ride as a whole, I'm not the biggest fan of the layout personally but I am looking forward to it. Judging from your other rides it should be pretty smooth.

B&M Hypercoaster Contest

^^ B&M isn't Arrow the last time I checked. EDIT: And yes, your ride looks pretty good Jarmor. Can't wait to see it done. -
i don't get it — it's bad enough to blatantly steal the name of another coaster, but, honestly, i don't even think “El Toro” is a name worth stealing! They didn't steal it, Six Flags doesn't own the name, no-one does. They just named it want they felt best suited the ride. No need to get all bothered about it. ^^ Thanks for the photo's, I must say that this ride is turning out much better than I initially thought. Should be some great airtime over some of those hills.

^ I'm sorry but I don't think +/- 2g lats is realistic at all, maybe on a woodie it is but on a steel... -

Awesome stuff, its nice to see these long lost classics considering they don't make them like they used to. -
[NL] Stand-Up Contest!!
dr.gumbo replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^ Give us chance. lol *What I liked* -Very smooth track -Original layout. -Fun elements -Great support work. -Realistic pacing *What I felt could be improved* -The pre-lift was very bumpy (not pumpy) and it could have done with a little work banking wise (not entirely your fault, that window was ridiculously placed). -The colours weren't the best I've seen. -I hated the final lift before the station, it made the ride a bit unrealistic (but again, it's not entirely your fault). -The track shaping was a bit dodgy at times (even though it was smooth). *My Verdict* Probably the best stand-up I've seen on this sight. I strong contender for the contest if you ask me. -

^ Good point, why should we go all over the world riding these things when we can just watch a video of it on Youtube. (Unless you meant something else assuming that English isn't your first language) -

Looks pretty cool from those photo's. It's nice to see the park are trying to theme this like they are (not that we didn't expect it lol). Thanks for the links. -
[NL] Category 2
dr.gumbo replied to AmyUD06's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Congratulations, your the official tester of my new rating system! lol What I liked -Nice idea's demonstrated throughout -Despite being a bit ugly, I thought the support work was actually quite good. -I loved some of the details like the evacuation lift. -Pretty good speed throughout What I didn't like -To start of with, the layout was quite good, but it eventually got repetitive with the hills and helix's. -Their were a lot of banking issue's which resulted in unpleasant (but not leathal) laterals. The main ones I noticed were the lack of lead-ins to the majority of the turns. -The ride was very spaced out, meaning a lot of the speed was wasted and the ride was quite forceless a lot of the time. -The airtime hills towards the end were placed a bit far of the ground with hardly any change in height, which not only makes them less thrilling but also unrealistic. -The colour scheme was a bit annoying but I can excuse that. What you can improve on next time -A lot of those airtime hill's were very pumpy due to the limited number of nodes used in each one. Try and use more nodes to control the track more next time as it give's better results when you use the built-in smoother. -Try and keep the laterals as low as you can throughout as it helps you bank the track better. Also, try to build proper lead-ins to turns. -Try not to recycle the same elements over and over, if you've already used it a lot, think of an alternative. My Verdict: 7/10 -
It's absolutely disgusting if you ask me.

^ I don't think thats ever going to happen, we've been trying to persuade him for years to do that. -
I couldn't comment, I loved roller coasters before I'd even been on any. I think I first became interested when I was at school as a kid and I decided to draw an amusement park for no particular reason (my only real knowledge of coasters came from TV at the time) . Obviously, I've been interested ever since.

Looks absolutely fantastic, I love the fake wooden paint scheme they've given it. It makes it fit in quite well in terms of looks. -
