  1. But what is a tower without the HALLWAY OF DOOM!! IMHO - I like the boiler room better at DCA, the drop profile at DCA and everything else better at WDW.
  2. That didn't scare me - what scared me was the people every show who were either denied boarding or kicked off because they were too drunk to fly. I have flown A LOT and have been on every major carrier and have never seen this happen before except on this show. Does this really happen a lot on SW or is it just sensationalized?
  3. Amen! After watching Airline it pretty much scared me away from flying Southwest ever again! I know it probably sounds kinda stuck up but I prefer to fly with folks on business or at least folks who have flown before and know the drill. Don't spend 20 min throwing your luggage up in the bins, dont spend a long time getting off the plane and dont ask the flight attendant silly questions.
  4. Its just a test right now of the concept and technology. If it ended up being a perm fixture I am sure it would look very different and have different capacity.
  5. Hey - you never know! Norwegian will have the first cruise ship with a bowling alley next year. I am sure that as we see the competition get more and more we will see more random stuff on ships. I have always wondered why there are no portholes below the water to see sealife.. I'm sure there is some scientific reason with pressure and such, but I think it would be cool!
  6. I have never really understood the appeal of Southwest. The prices are pretty much the same as Delta/Jetblue/whomever else and you get less amenities, have the annoying cattle call loading and very old planes. Perhaps it is the market I live in having so much competition that it doesn't make financial sense. What do all of you love so much about it?
  7. Thanks for the info - but we generally would want a more detailed report or make another one with some photos. Unfortunatly threads like this get no responses and die a painful death. Try taking some photos the next trip you do and make a detailed report. Until then - Thread Locked.
  8. Wait - let me get this straight - you are supposed to be in ice and its muggy and stuffy?!!? That is what I call complete theming ..
  9. I will post a quick TR (hopefully) after the first night and that will give you an idea of what houses seem to be the busiest and you can make a beeline to those. There is almost always 1 or 2 houses that seem to have very low capacity and will have a long wait even on the slowest nights (these are usually the ones that are not in soundstages and are in non-traditional areas)
  10. True - But you are really comparing apples to oranges. Uni, Sea World, WDW would never close down major attractions due to attendance without telling anyone (they do it for maintaince and is scheduled in advance). Or have rides that just appeal to either very small kids or adults (that have height requirements) and have almost nothing for the whole family. I guess I look at it that if they are going to play with the big boys - they have to be able to compete with the big boys. Right now they are on more of an "old town, magical midway" kinda level. Whose kids? Your kids? I would make a bet that 9 outta 10 kids age 5-11 would *much* rather go to the MK over Cypress. And for seniors, I see many more of them at Epcot on a weekday than I did on a weekday at Cypress. Look.. I don't hate Cypress Gardens and I do respect your view of it - I just think it has some huge problems and identity issues it needs to deal with. I would much rather see it as a state run garden with a few animal exhibits and preserve that natural florida beauty.. I enjoy that a lot! They tried to replicate the formula of Wild Adventures here in the Orlando area while forgetting one huge thing - Wild Adventures has no competition within a few hours drive.. thats HUGE!
  11. I *heart* lost and I can not wait until the new season! Make sure if you have not already, check out the LOSTpedia to catch up on everything they revealed in the web game over the summer. www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page
  12. Thanks Julie! What a fun trip report. I enjoyed mooseburger lodge my first visit there - but the buffet scared me also. Good burgers though!
  13. Sigh. That call sucked but we probably would have lost anyway. It would have been funny to Saban run out and throw the flag at the Ref's head though..
  14. I have been almost every year since the first event and I always go the first weekend (usually on Friday but sometimes on the Saturday). It is very doubtful that the first Saturday will sell out - that being said IT WILL BE CROWDED. More and more people every year are visiting HHN on the first weekend and this year that Saturday is the only one that the Frequent Fear Pass is valid for. Usually on the first Friday the houses range from 30min-60min... the first Saturday will run from 60 min-90 min. for most of the event. It is not as bad as later Saturdays where every house is 120minutes from Open-Close but it is still packed. You may get to hit all of the houses if you concentrate on doing them, but do not expect to get in any other rides or shows without the Express Pass.
  15. I can't believe it is opening day of the 2006 NFL season and no one has started a thread yet! I am *very* excited about tonights Dolphins-Steerlers game - esp. since Rothiswhateverhisnameis is not going to be playing.. Miami Dolphins.. Miami Dolphins.. Miami Dolphins #1..
  16. Agreed. Although Sonic Boom looks awesome, they need some major coasters, great themeing, and an all around great atmosphere to survive. I disagree - If they market it as a traditional park then yes...it will have survival issues. If it is looked at as a testing ground that you can visit and pay to experience or even a FEC with a few up-charge attractions it will do well. As others have said - they have to test their prototype attractions anyway... you might as well use them while you have them!
  17. I have been hearing from a number of people that the props from the attraction might end up on E-Bay... I am *so* buying a hoverboard or a flux capacitor if they do!
  18. I *heart* Delta. When I am not able to fly Delta due to cost, flight times, etc. I will stick with one of the other SkyTeam partners so I can add to my 130,000 FF Miles..
  19. It sounds bad (cause I would hate to see *any* park close) but I would rather see the State of Florida buy the gardens and preserve them - that is really the unique and beautiful part. The rest is very *carny*.
  20. More photos! Chicken Bryan goodness! What a way to end a theme park day.. Future site of an Aqua Trax! Hey! A vekoma kiddie-slc with its own xmas ornament. WTF?!?!? You can tell the gardens were from another time - they were even more deserted than the park, although very well taken care of. The gardens area was beautiful..especially this huge banyan tree. The water park was nicely laid out and empty - although it did look (like much of the park) "Off the Shelf" If you would like to simulate going on the swamp thing - just look at this photo while you bang your head against the monitor. Going up the lift hill on swamp thing for a second time... not by choice - you *have* to ride two times.. Yae for headbanging! You can see the pieces of the Starliner in the back with grass growing over them.. Another one of the haunts they are building. This was my first experience on a Disko and not being a fan of spinny rides, it will probably be my last! Oh No! We have to go back through the "Bad side of town" to get to the rides! This was actually one of the better things in the park and it had decent production values. I did feel bad since there were only 15 people watching it.. We then had to fight for a seat at the Water Ski show... but it was worth it! We then walked through what we like to call the "Scary section with lots of boarded up windows and doors" - At least their offices are closed as well as their attractions! New and CLOSED! Is this a credit? Well it was open so it counts! We asked the ride op why all the closed rides and were told "There are a lot of things closed here...that sucks!"... Thanks! For those of you who are too lazy to read the Zamprella catalog, you can just walk through this park!
  21. Even though Cypress Gardens is only about 30 minutes away from where I live, I had not taken the time to visit until yesterday. The appeal just was not really there for me - the mediocre reviews, the lack of signature attractions and being in the middle of nowhere all added up to a lack of interest. Well, this month is free for all Hospitality Industry Employees (Hi Joey! You can fly to FL and get in free to Cypress Gardens!) so Stacey and I decided to brave the wilds of Polk county and the the few credits there. It turned out to be an OK day with lots of rides closed and NO ONE in the park. It was worth "free" ...but not much more. Anyways.. on to the photos! This train is in *amazing* condition. This was actually quite a fun little coaster! It looked in pretty poor condition but it gave a smooth ride. The ride ops both had "Meth Mouth" and started the ride while I was still putting my camera over the side on the ground, almost taking my arm wit This was probably the most fun attraction the whole day! This is their spinning raft ride "Storm Surge" and boy does it spin! The amusing part was the ride op at the end who was sitting down and requested we pull ourselves up the upramp because our raft Ahh.. *thats* why it is closed! The first credit we come upon... CLOSED! Yae! What a good sign for the park.. /sarcasm OMG THIS PARK IS BUSY! Most rides had 1 ride op per 5-7 rides, they just followed you around. I kid you not! They are starting to build their (cough) haunts for their phobia Halloween event. Here is where we first learned that we are on our own with safety in this park. This is the line for the BBQ place, these stanchion holes are raised about 3 inches off of the ground and right in the middle of where you walk. It is *impossible* walk, ord Worst. BBQ Chicken. EVER. For 7.99 I got warm coleslaw, dried out chicken with no meat, hard cold corn and a pickle.. YAE! Here is the *very dead* main street-esque food and merchandise area. Lots of nice little shops and very crappy food. Here are my bling-bling free tickets. Awww yeah! So perhaps I live a sheltered life, but I have never seen an ATM in a protective condom like this before. These were all over the park - a little self serve ATM kiosk with A/C and everything! These are the cars of everyone who was in the park... no.. seriously.. These were *all* the cars in the lot! It was amazingly dead. They were running the parking lot tram (which was a truck pulling a trailer with a metal bench) for the 500 feet to the e This is what is called an establishing shot. OMG - A *brand* new KFC that says it is Kentucky *FRIED* chicken...WTF?!?! On the way there you pass the site of the former Boardwalk and Baseball and Circus World (both home to credits!) Now it is just a mound of dirt
  22. Thanks for the TR! Carrowinds is one of those parks that I keep telling myself I'm going to go to over a weekend (only a 6 hour drive!) but never seem to make it to. Oh well.... there is always next season!
  23. The prices in some of the resort restaurants can be a bit more pricey, but that is also because the quality of food and service can be a bit higher as well. Comparable restaurants (Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary and Le Cellier at Epcot) have comparable prices.
  24. From todays Orlando Sentinel It looks like it is official! Does anyone have POV? I'm trying to remember if they allow video taping of the attraction. I for one am sad - even though it was rough it felt like a part of my childhood. I remember the countdown clock to opening that was near where the store was now..
  25. Contemporary and Polynesian, I believe. Correct! Polly is pretty much done and the Contemporary still has a ways to go.
