  1. Here's the latest from our local newspaper: http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20100525/NEWS01/5250366/1008/Fair+board+to+consider+new+amusement+park+operator
  2. ^ I wonder if the first firm's proposal was to just tear the sucker down?
  3. Walcott - Vampire Weekend
  4. I'm majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Lodging Management. I also can get credit hours for completing an internship, and then one or two of the Collegiate Courses that they offer can transfer to my university. (I think it was personal marketing and human resource management)
  5. I've applied and been accepted for the WDW College Program (Florida) for this upcoming Fall '10 semester, but now it's not looking like I will be able to go starting this May. I definitely still want to take part in this internship and plan on re-applying for Spring '11! Not only does it look like an amazing experience, but I can also get course credits through my major and minor. Thanks for the great insight in this thread! Very helpful information! - Kevin C
  6. - Favorite new coaster: El Toro and Diamondback - Favorite new ride: maXair and Delirium - Most memorable park moment: Camping at Holiday World in the pouring rain - Most memorable coaster moment: My friend losing her camera on Diamondback (it flew out of her pocket when we hit the trim break. haha!) - Least favorite coaster: Son of Beast - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced: 4th Dimension and Ball Coasters - Your favorite TPR moment: The video of Joey trying to cross the monkey bars at Farup Sommerland. It never gets old! - The decade's biggest flop: Hard Rock Park - The decade's biggest success: Intamin Prefab Wooden Coasters!! - The best meal you've had at a park: Everything at the Plymouth Rock Cafe at Holiday World - Best park turnaround: Six Flags Great America - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? The rebirth of wooden coasters! (Gravity Group, GCIs, and Intamin)
  7. The main difference that I see between Mitch's Poll and the Golden Ticket Awards is the lack of international coasters in the latter. Is there a reason why the Golden Ticket Awards don't consider coasters outside of the United States, other than Expedition GeForce? It seems that if you were to ignore all of the top international coasters in Mitch's Poll, the results are somewhat comparable to the Golden Ticket Awards, with just a few discrepancies in the order.
  8. Starlight - Muse
  9. Here are the only definites for next year: Holiday World Kings Island Cedar Point Indiana Beach (NEW park) Kennywood (NEW park)

  11. It's possible that I might join the IntimidaTour this year, but that's still up in the air. Either way, I'm definitely interested in a Northeast trip in future years, especially if it were to extend a little more south to include say Six Flags Great Adventure, Hersheypark and Knoebels. (like the East Coast trip did in '08)
  12. Any more news as to when Kingda Ka might be repaired? I'm going to the park on Thursday, but I'm assuming it will still be closed down.
  13. CoryPA77 is correct, the west side of the park (Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls) is in the direct path of one of the SDF runways, and therefore has a lower height restriction than over by Chang. The East End bridge is needed to connect the Gene Snyder to I-265 in Indiana. It's not so much to make east enders shut up as it is to alleviate traffic through downtown, especially motorists going from I-71 to I-65. It is just as necessary as the Sherman Minton Bridge is to the west end.
  14. Sorry to bump an old thread, but I didn't feel the need to start a new one. I just have a few general questions that I couldn’t find answers to on the park website. My family will be visiting the park on a Thursday in July, and I was wondering what to expect crowd wise? Would you recommend getting flash passes, and if so how exactly do they work? I understand they are $34.99, which seems a bit pricey, but we will definitely get them if they are really necessary. We will only be at the park for one whole day and would like to try and get on all of the roller coasters and what few good flat rides they have, if possible. Also, I know that most of the major attractions now have lockers, but is it ok to keep things in our pockets? Since there isn’t a waterpark, we probably won’t carry around any bags, as to avoid dealing with the lockers. Any other tips as to what rides to hit when, or where to eat would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  15. Daylight - Matt & Kim!
  16. This year the Kentucky State Fair runs from Thursday, August 20th through Sunday, August 30th.
  17. I've probably ridden Chang and Greezed Lightnin' the most at SFKK, but I don't know exactly how many times.
  18. ^ The Rainbow has been removed this season. Nice Pictures! I think an Intamin Mega-lite would fit nicely in Twisted Twins footprint.
  19. Hey Big Mike! I'm not aware of any coupons for Kings Island, but if you havent already bought your tickets, any Louisville area Kroger sells discounted single day tickets for $22.99, which is cheaper than online! That is, if you plan on taking I65 up through Louisville and then I75 to Cincy. Have fun!!
  20. Two quick questions. First, there's a possibility that I might be able to hit up the park this Sunday, and was wondering how the crowds have been the past weekend or so? Also, does Kings Island have any coupons or coke can promotions going on right now? Thanks! Can't wait to try out Diamondback!
  21. Steel 1 - Millennium Force 2 - Raging Bull 3 - Tennessee Tornado Wood 1 - The Voyage
  22. I'm still getting a little lag. It will show that the buffering is about 30 seconds ahead of where I am currently watching, but it still stops for a few seconds to load more. The same thing happens to me on youtube though, so it might just be my connection. Also, I found it a little difficult to see how you are rating the videos. You can't see any stars before you rate (not even just outlined), so it looks just like a white gap. If you hold your cursor over the area, it will show either 'poor', 'worth watching', 'pretty cool', ect., but not how many stars you are giving. Hope that makes sense and helps!
  23. I too was at one point intrested in amusement park management, but am now starting to lean more towards working in the hotel and resort industry. I'm currently starting my major in Business Administration with a minor in Lodging Management at WKU. I figured that even if I changed my mind again down the road, a degree in management can be beneficial for practically any job in the business world. Besides, I've constantly been told, It won't really matter what you majored in during college. All companies are lookin for are that you actually have a degree, and have experience in the field. As it has been said before, just get your foot in the door early, and work your way up!
  24. My favorite would have to be Raging Bull's at SFGAm drop out of the station, especially in the back seat. Adventure Express's pre-lift is decent too. Oh wait, that's the whole ride.
