TPR Year of a Million Dream Winners
rbpia posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While in the library at "Good" Tower of Terror a couple of weeks ago we were picked for a prize in the Year of a Million Dreams. I thought it would be cool to see how many TPR members get chosen. If you get a dream post a picture of it here. rbpia "Getting the ears almost made up for missing Soren" Everyone in the library received "Dream Ears" How magical" -
Congrats Joel. I thought about you while I was at WDW a few weeks ago. I even took a few pics for you: rbpia "Give me a reason, any reason, to jump a plane to Orlando" Future home of the elusive Joel credit! The perfect start to the drunk around the world is a Margarita. Notice the Year of a Million Dream ears! and finally goodbye, hope to see you in Orlando.

2nd time not such a charm?
rbpia replied to canada's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Revenge of the Mummy at USF. The first trip I rode it 3 times and thought it was cool. When I went back a year later, it became the most boring dark ride/lame coaster ever. -
What is your local park?

Ron- Urbandale, Iowa - Adventureland, although I make the trip to SFgam more often than the trip across town. -
Best Theme Park Chain
rbpia replied to vertgforces's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had to vote for Disney. It just amazes me how you can totally forget about the outside world while you are in a Disney park. rbpia "Yes I believe in Disney Magic" -
I am happy that the day has finally arrived. I leave in 14hrs 27mins for Orlando. 8 days of Orlando goodness all paid for by the boss. Gotta love conventions that only require 1/2 day of your time. rbpia "oops, 14hr 24 mins, not that I'm counting"

5 Awesome Days With The TPR Gang In Orlando!
rbpia replied to Hattuchili's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great photos so far. Looks like you all are having a blast. I'll be in Orlando starting Sunday night, ready to start my Expedition Soren! rbpia "Hope to run in to you all next week" -
Best of luck to you. Are you sure you want to become Soren jr.? If you do you should only let TPR members take pictures with you if they have their kids with them. rbpia "Hey did you get the elusive mmousefan credit?" "No I couldn't find someone to lend me their kid for a minute, its harder than Jr. Gemini!"

Rollercoasters and contact lenses.
rbpia replied to incredicoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been wearing contacts for about 5 years. There has only been one time that I wish I had glasses on instead. After 2 days at Cedar Point with no problems with the contacts we made our last ride a nighttime ride on Millenium Force. I had to scrape 3 splatted bugs off of my lenses. Although I guess it would have been worse having them splat directly on my eyeball. rbpia "The price we pay for coasters at night. Worth every penny" -
Running one train...
rbpia replied to jamessanders's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Can you imagine the downtime on a dual loading Deja Vu. This is a definate way for Shapiro to save money. The ride would only run 1 hour out of every three years. rbpia "The sign at the entrance closing the ride doesn't get paid by the hour." -
I love lazy Sunday's. Doing nothing but watching football and checking out TPR.

Did someone forget to tell Bugs and Foghorn about Six Flags new family friendly image? rbpia "Quick, send that photo to the Washington Post and take some of the heat off of Disney."

Disney Characters gone wild?
rbpia replied to dubaidave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this is so wrong. Backstage or not, on video or not, this is just wrong. The fact that Disney is in the business of "dreams" and this video could change the dream of just 1 child makes this devastating. Hell I'm 35 years old and I still feel like I'm 8 years old when I'm at WDW. I still believe in Disney Magic. On another note, how much of the negative press that Disney receives is due to the ABC/ESPN/Disney connection? Do the other "news" companies make more out of negatives because they are in competition? rbpia "9 days until I experience the MAGIC that Disney has spent years and millions making me still believe" -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
rbpia replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Patriot at Worlds of Fun last night. Coaster number 100, I think. I need to go back and check my credit count. rbpia "Oh yeah, and I really liked the Patriot, first year B&M goodness!" -

Around 1983 I got stuck on The Legend at Arnolds Park. We were stuck on the bunny hills at the end of the ride. It was pretty cool when we had to get out and walk the rest of the way to the station. My favorite has to be in 2004 my brother and I were stuck about 210' up Millenium Force's lift hill in the front row. After about 10 minutes the ride op came up in the car that goes up the side of the track to check someones seatbelt. There was a teenage girl in row 2 that was freaking out, screaming and crying. Finally after about 20 minutes we started again on another great ride. When we got into the unload station they told us that we could get off or stay on if we wanted. After a little encouragement even "freak out girl" stayed on for the reride. To sum it up, 20 minutes of a great view, and 1 1/2 hours of waiting in line for a 2nd ride avoided. Last year on Spiderman at IOA, the last 3 scenes were not on while we went through them. It was kind of cool going around looking at nothing. rbpia

Cedar Fair Maxx Passes
rbpia replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Email answer from Worlds of Fun: "I am sorry, but 2007 Season Passports do not include admission to HalloWeekends in 2006, but would allow your family unlimited access to HalloWeekends in 2007. As you may know, 2007 Season Passports are on sale at the best price of the season if purchase by November 10, 2006." My response to Cedar Fair: Guess we'll just have to use our Six Flags season passes and go to Fright Fest, instead of buying 6 Maxx Passes for next year. rbpia "hmm, was that a good business decision? I did say 6 Maxx Passes." -
Announcing ThemeParkVideos!
rbpia replied to Flea's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks like you have a good start towards a great site. I'll check back often. rbpia "Robb, how about, "Here is my signature brought to you by Bic Pens."? That should at least get you $.99 per month and is not full blown advertising. -
Parks With Insane Rides
rbpia replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say we take up a collection, I'll chip in $20 to scrap that piece of crap. rbpia "Come on Krantz family, it's time for a new coaster at Adventureland!" -
Photo TR: SFGAm September 16th and 17th
rbpia replied to Director_Guy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'll be at SFGam Oct. 7-8, what do you all do at Fright Fest? I have 2 boys ages 8 - 10 that last year said that they "could not be scared." They were so alert to everyone that it did take about an hour before they actually did get suprised. The werewolves however scared the crap outta my daughters, and they were freaked out and crying all day. We managed to get one daughter to stop crying. I love Fright Fest. -
Someone should alert the Food Network. They need to include this in their best food show. A cockroach probably could qualify as some of the best food at most Six Flags parks. rbpia "What you just ate a roach, well then, that coke just went from $3.50 to $10. It's all supply and demand here at the new Six Flags!"

rbpia replied to Golfie's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great trip report. I usually go to SFGAm 6 - 7 times a year. I have not been this year, your TR is really getting me pumped for Oct. 7-8. Two days of Fright Fest goodness! rbpia "nothing like waiting until Oct. 7 to ride your 1st coaster of the year"
