Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't keep tabs on the "style" of coasters (for example, "old-school vs "new-school" B&M). What I see in Intimidator 305 is a bunch of wide turns, one after the other, with two hills in a row built in between. I don't see any of that on Skyrush. -

There's the thing - I don't see twisty bits. I see fantastically-shaped hill followed by sweeping curve followed by fantastically-shaped hill. None of it's twisty, it's all smooth and it all flows. Opinions are subjective, I know. But I just don't think you'll be able to compare it. I just feel like it's going to be completely different. -

The point I'm getting at is to judge Skyrush on ITS OWN merits, and not compared to Intimidator 305. I'm a big universalist that way - I completely throw all comparisons/manufacturers/stereotypes out the window when I ride a new coaster. Because that way, when I have no expectations, I enjoy a ride a lot more. If I don't hate a coaster, I will marathon it - no matter what it is. A litter of baby dinosaurs got run over by several cars. I couldn't save them. I hope they're still building the track and supports in January, because I want to get down there and check the site out for myself. -

Well, would you look at that. About five minutes ago I found a dead baby dinosaur on the side of the street in front of my residence hall. Now, who would have the heart (or lack thereof) to make something like that happen? I wonder... -
In all honesty, I really like how the Juke looks. I'd like it more if the roof wasn't sloped so much toward the back, but I really can't judge as I haven't actually lived with one.

Oh, heavens no. I have my "Wing Coasters are two credits" shrine for that purpose. -

Every time Ccron10 or FaithnotForgotten posts a Skyrush update, a male coaster enthusiast wets himself. I, luckily, have not succumbed to that. So - either I'm a girl (last time I checked I'm still a guy, maybe I should check again), I'm not excited for this ride (which I am), or I'm in the middle of finals week. I think the third situation seems more likely. Can't wait to see the beast topped off. -

Every time someone complains about the paint scheme of a new coaster, a baby unicorn gets hit by a train. -

I wonder how close to Hersheypark you'll have to be to see the lift and drop. You'll probably be able to see it from really far away. Every time someone compares Skyrush to Intimidator 305, a baby dinosaur gets run over by a car. -

It really looks like one of those rides where you care more about all the scenery than the actual ride itself. More of an "ooh", "ahh" ride as opposed to a "really intense" ride. -

[censored] [censored] [censored]ING [censored]. Stop comparing it to Intimidator 305! It looks like those big solid-ish pieces in the second photo are what will be supporting the track as it goes up the lift. Am I wrong? -

The exterior design is absolutely terrible (to a lot of people), but as a package the Aztek is fantastic. It and its platform-mate, the Buick Rendezvous, are two of the most versatile vehicles ever put on the market. I would seriously have an Aztek, with the tent attachment, if I was going on a multi-day road trip, such as a two-day drive to Orlando (which is happening for me in May). It would save a bundle on overnight stays.

"Star attraction" is a relative term. My "star attraction" at Hersheypark is Lightning Racer Thunder side, but my teenage sister's "star attraction" at Hersheypark is the East Coast Waterworks. -

Can you include and or post a ZIP with the track, environment, and 3DS? Remember that the Pack Extractor no longer works for Mac users who upgrade to 10.7. Looks good though. -

Oh yeah, that's a big one. I wonder...how many wheels does Formula Rossa tear through in a month? -

Which is ironic because Smart cars get worse gas mileage than a Prius. I hope the park hangs on. As cheesy as V12 and the Speed of Magic look, they really seem like high-quality attractions in a high-quality park. Same goes with, of course, Formula Rossa. Maybe they should have a "limited" number of attractions open some days and the full lineup open other days. Seems like it would save them some money. -

No, it definitely is not...http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=47259&start=3330 Actually, if you zoom in closer, it actually is Nightfall's CTR. How do you know? Every single [censored]ing Wing Coaster CTR looks exactly the same. Parallax is obviously working on his own Wing Coaster CTR for his own Wing Coaster design. Quit discrediting others' work. It's downright stupid, and don't even give me that crap of "zooming in closer". You can only zoom in so far, and all I see is a coaster with seats straddling the track. -
I remember that the launch into the building is supposed to be pretty high by the time it actually goes in. So, that shot's probably the exit (looks pretty low, like the free-fall comes right before it). Is it just me, or do the riverbed footers look like floating crates? Oh, and thanks for the height comparison. I've always wanted to know how big a roller coaster is compared to a pile of dirt.
