Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

From my experience, Dominator's front row had quite a bit of a rattle and it wasn't very pleasant. However I found the last row to be smooth and much more enjoyable. That being said Dominator is still a great ride, my second favorite in the park. -

What was your favorite new ride of 2015?
mike541x replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got to ride Thunderbird, and it was amazing! This was my first Wingrider, so I can't compare to the others. The launch really caught me by surprise as it was much forceful than I anticipated. Great layout, smooth transitions and just loads of fun. Not to mention the station and plaza are very well themed. Perfect addition to HW's line-up without a doubt. -

Favorite coaster cars/trains or ride vehicles

Honestly, I still think the Arrow looper trains are my favorite, both versions of them. Also Lightning Rod's trains looks pretty neat. Can't wait to see them in person! -

I'd love to see KD get a Chance Hyper GT-X, we need to see more of these rides. -

^Especially if you're in the last row. It's seriously one of the best experiences I've felt on any roller coaster! -

I think you should be fine this Friday, with summer ending and kids preparing to go back to school. And yeah, hitting up Volcano first never hurts, regardless on what the crowds look like. -

I'm going to assume a lot of schools in VA are back in session, so I think you should be okay as far as crowds go. -
Horrible Park Operations
mike541x replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll have to say that Kings Dominion's operations were terrible the two times I visited this year. One of the days my friends and I went was on Joyfest, one of the busiest days I've seen KD, and even then the ride ops for a majority of the rides were terribly slow and acted like they didn't give a sh*t except for the paycheck. The stacking on Anaconda was atrocious! After a train would return to the station, one ride op would keep walking into the control booth to chat with the girl at the control panel for a good minute or two before they would open the airgates and let people board, while people on the other train are under the hot ass sun, waiting on the brake run. To add insult to injury, they were very slow when it came to checking restraints as well, stopping halfway down the train to talk and joke around. At least the employees at other departments weren't the same. -
Awesome TR. I visited Holiday World for the first time myself last month. I drove about 9 hours from Maryland to visit the park and it was well worth it. Great collections of rides, awesome prices on food and merchandise, and the great staff of Holiday World easily made this park as one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I never got to visit Splashin Safari either, which I really regret.

GASM's old trains (now Ninja's) solved that problem with higher bars on the side. With that being said, I've seen some Arrow loopers that allowed riders to keep their hands up. Demon at SFGAm, original Steel Phantom, and Tennessee Tornado ares some of the few that come to mind. -

The quality isn't that great but I found these on Youtube and thought it was worth sharing. Brand new Roar, Python still operating...I miss the Adventure World days. -

Awesome! I've never been on these Giant Frisbee's but they look like fun rides. I definitely need to get a season pass for next year. -

I've never been on a Screamin Swing, but they look like a lot of fun. I'm just not a fan of up-charge attractions, which I'm hoping this new ride won't be. -

Note the date on that, 9/11/1974. Crazy!
