Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread
mike541x replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree that Roar is rougher than Wildcat. That being said, I thought Gwazi was worse than both of them. RMC renovating Roar would be awesome. Hopefully it becomes a project for them one day. -
I had a Dr. Pepper last weekend. First time I drank a soda in almost a year.

Show us your collection!!!
mike541x replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Souvenir cups are pretty much the only collection I have. Left to Right: Six Flags Great America (2007), Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Kings Dominion I did have some shot glasses as well, but I haven't used them in a while. -
I went to DC101's Kerfuffle at Merriweather Post Pavilion with a buddy of mine on Sunday, and it's safe to say it was the best concert I've been to. Not only was the line up great and I got to see my favorite band, but the vibe all around was amazing. Everyone around us was chill, having a good time and we made some friends in the process. As for the acts we saw: Andrew McMahon and The Wilderness-Not bad, had a few good songs but around this time my friend and I were just chatting with other people around us on the lawn. Big Data-Same as above. Dirty Heads-I like these guys as they had a Sublime/311 vibe to their music. They played "Lay Me Down" which I was looking forward to the most, so I was satisfied with their set. Panic! At The Disco-If this was ten years ago, I probably wouldn't care if we missed these guys. However I've grown to appreciate them over the past few years. Now that I've seen them live, I have a lot more respect for them, and they did a fantastic cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody". The Offspring-Can't express how awesome this band is. I still remember listening to these guys on my friends radio back in middle school when we would skate in his drive-way. This was the only band the entire day that had people moshing and crowdsurfing which was a lot of fun. Incubus-The headliners of the show and my favorite band, no matter how much their music changes. They played a great set for about an hour. During their song "Dig" a fight broke out in the pit and the singer, Brandon cracked jokes about it after the song lol. This was my first time seeing them and it won't be my last. Hopefully I'll catch them this summer with Deftones (Another one of my favorite bands). Pictures: From the back of the lawn. Panic! At The Disco The Offspring. Incubus!

What defunct park intrigues you the most?
mike541x replied to coaster57's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Opryland USA. Looked like such a nice park with a great variety of rides and entertainment. I often wonder what the park would be like to day if it was still around. Marshall Hall and Glen Echo are another that come in mind. My dad used to visit both of these parks all the time. -
^Congratulations! Great location, too.

What is your next park?

If nothing pops up before the end of July, then it'll be Holiday World. -
Best Pirate Ship Ride?
mike541x replied to canadianparkfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I gotta agree about the Sea Dragon models. IIRC, Ghost Town in the Sky had/has one and I remember everyone in my family agreed it was much more exciting than most of the Pirate Ship rides we'd been on before. -

Great TR. As expected, everything turned out great for Thunderbird. Glad to hear all the positive reviews on the ride as well. For those who've ridden it, is there a specific side/seat you would prefer? -

Shame about the MCBR on Voyage as that was my second most anticipated ride at HW. When I watched POV for the ride, I was astonished by how much it was hauling ass after the brake run. It still looks like a great ride regardless. -

Great to hear! I should be jealous for those riding it right now, but I'm going to be patient and wait till July. Interesting. Any particular reason for this? -

Holiday World is definitely a winner with Thunderbird. Everything about this ride is looking great so far and as I said before, I'm very happy that I chose to visit the park this year. -

Gotta agree that the station is looking good as well with the rest of the area around the ride. Definitely glad I chose to visit Holiday World this year. -
Two of my favorite bands are touring this summer but they're not stopping anywhere close to where I live.

"Squeeze Me Macaroni"-Mr. Bungle
-
"Bulls on Parade"-Rage Against The Machine

Really, how hard is it to hit your turn signal when you're turning. It's that kind of laziness that causes accidents.

So far Thunderbird looks very promising, and I can't wait to get some night rides on it this summer. -

Honestly I'm not surprised. I remember two summers ago, my friends and I were watching Joker's Jinx and couldn't help but notice how much that support shook every time a train went through the cobra roll.
