  1. If Shockwave was getting removed for another coaster, I think a Chance Hyper GTX would be a perfect replacement.
  2. I was thinking the same thing, perfect fit for LC for sure. It's great to see more of these Sky Rocket coasters being installed now. I still haven't ridden Tempesto yet, despite being two and half hours away from BGW, but they look like a lot of fun.
  3. I found that a bit surprising myself. I guess Kings Dominion is more well known than I thought. I wonder how much longer till we see a petition to save Shockwave.
  4. ^I might have to visit the park this year just to buy that shirt alone. It's such a shame Drachen Fire so was rough that they scrapped it. I still think it was one of the best looking roller coasters to ever be built. And being the Arrow fan that I am, it's reputation still wouldn't have stopped me from riding it.
  5. Candy Apple Grove, across from the Dodgem bumper cars.
  6. I was supposed to ride my first RMC this month (Goliath), but my trip to Illinois was cancelled. Oh well, hopefully next year.
  7. When idiots pull their phones out on the lift hill of a coaster, then the ride op has to stop the train and tell them to put it away. I saw this happen on at least three rides at Kings Dominion a few weeks ago.
  8. At opening, go to Dominator first. That gets crowded later on. Volcano and I305 also have very long lines. You must be going on some crowded days because I305 has some of the shortest lines in then entire park. Even when it does get a line, it goes by quickly. I agree with Chuck, ride Volcano first thing because the it seems like once it has a line, it never lets up.
  9. "You're Gonna Go Far Kid"-The Offspring
  10. The last drop on Apollo's Chariot, back row. It still gets me every time.
  11. -Intimidator 305: From start to finish. -Kumba: The Zero-G and Cobra Roll are pretty forceful. -Montu: The Batwing element. -Skyrush: First drop in the last row has to be one of the craziest moments on any roller coaster. Great airtime hills as well. -Manta (SWO): Pretzel Loop -Dragon Challenge (Chinese Fireball): Wraparound Immelmann
  12. If you're going on the fourth I would suggest getting a Fast Lane as like any park, the holiday weekends tend to be the busiest. Oddly enough, I went last year the day after the fourth (which was also a Saturday) and the crowds were minimal. I'd still go with a Fast Lane just to be on the safe side.
  13. I can usually tolerate rough coasters but after visiting Kings Dominion last Saturday, Hurler is now ranked up there as one of the roughest wooden coasters I've ridden next to Gwazi. I used to find it a bit rough, but tolerable. This year the ride was just unbearable from the moment the train hit the bottom of the first drop.
  14. Yeah, Hurler doesn't seem to age well, it seems like it's gotten worse than the previous years. For as many times I've been up on the Eiffel Tower, I've always been let onto the top deck. In fact I don't think I've ever been or seen anyone on the bottom deck.
  15. Are you kidding? Six Flags America is still as run down as it was in 2010. It is still light years behind Kings Dominion. No, I'm *actually* not kidding. SFA is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was five years ago, and has improved more than almost any Six Flags in that time. Nowhere did I say SFA is better than Kings Dominion. Reading comprehension. Beat me to it, well said. Seriously, you've got to be blind if you can't see SFA has been improving over the last five years. Sure there are other things that the park can improve but with them bringing in new attractions, sprucing up areas and with the addition of adding a new pathway I'd say the park is doing a lot better than it was before. As for Shockwave, if the rumors are true and it's on the chopping block soon, I say good riddance.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely check with their website before our visit.
  17. Anyone know a place in Indiana that has discount tickets for the park?
  18. And this is why proofreading is important.
  19. Just got a letter telling me I have jury duty.....on the same frickin week I take my vacation to Illinois which means I may not be able to go to Holiday World and SFGAm. Hopefully I can postpone it.
  20. Wild One at SFA. The ride is 98 years old and it's still one of the best woodies out there.
  21. "Scream Sundae"-Buckethead
  22. Kings Dominion this Sunday. I'll also be visiting Holiday World and Six Flags Great America at the end of July and early August.
  23. "I Miss You"-Blink 182
  24. Big Bad Wolf for sure. Sadly I only got to ride it three times during a Howl-O-Scream visit ten years ago, then by the time I made it back to the park, I was too late. Worst part was seeing the ride standing there (not long before being torn down), and knowing that I'd never get to ride it again. That being said, I think Verbolten is a great ride. Typhoon Sea Coaster/Skull Mountain at SFA was another great ride...at least on the days it actually worked.
