  1. Just got back from first ever visit from Holiday World. All I can say is Wow! I was going to the park with high expectations and HW exceeded all of them! I'll do a full TR once I'm home tomorrow or Wednesday, but a few highlights I want to point out: -Thunderbird was my first wingrider and all I have to say is that the park is a winner with this new ride as it's a major hit with everyone -One, if not, the best operations I've seen at any park by far. Other parks need to learn from Holiday World. -Perfect collection of flats. Love how they had some classics there -Great food -Friendliest employees I've encountered at any amusement park Holiday World is just amazing. And like I said I'll get into more detail and do a trip report once I'm home and upload some pictures.
  2. Couldn't agree more, Storm Runner is a great ride. The flying snake dive inversion is one of the best things I've experience on a roller coaster.
  3. In about a week I'll be visiting Holiday World for the first time, so I got a few questions. What kind of crowds should be expected on Monday (27th)? Best place to eat at the park? And besides the coasters what other rides are worth checking out? Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks for the response. I do plan on getting there at opening and stay for at least three hours so I can grab some new credits and possibly lunch and still have plenty of time to make it to my hotel in Tell City (IN) so that's perfect time. So far I think Kennywood is a go for me!
  5. ^^Well said, Backlot is such a fun ride. It's always a must ride every time I visit the park.
  6. Giga-Intimidator 305 Hyper-Skyrush Hybrid-Wicked Cyclone Invert-Montu Woodie 1-Wild One Woodie 2-Wood Coaster from Knight Valley Launched-Storm Runner Others-Kumba, Tennessee Tornado, Manta (SWO)
  7. ^I305 merchandise was still 40% off last Saturday.
  8. First Lightning Run, now this? Kentucky Kingdom is getting higher on my bucket list for sure.
  9. Roar is a bit on the rough side, but I'm not sure if it's worse than KD's Hurler. I will say that Roar's first drop is awesome in the last car!
  10. I'm debating about stopping by the park for a few hours the first time on Sunday (26th) on my way up to Holiday World. I don't plan on staying all day since I have a hotel reservation that evening in Indiana. How are the crowds around that time? Is it worth stopping by and getting some credits? Phantom's Revenge is pretty high on my bucket list so I'm very tempted to make the stop.
  11. Great report/pictures. I'm actually going to have to agree with what you said about the ride ops. So far this year they seem terrible, especially on Anaconda and Rebel Yell. I would see trains make it to the brake run before the ride ops would even open the air gates to let people board the other. Ridiculous!
  12. Most of the coasters and water rides had lines spilling out of the queues. We didn't have to wait more than hour for any ride (The most we waited was probably close to 45 minutes tops), but it was still one of the busiest days I've seen at the park. Rebel Yell, Hurler and Grizzly were the shortest waits, one train wait for each so that wasn't too bad.
  13. Thanks Chuck. I figured I'd ask about Sundays since it's probably the best day for my friends and I to go since we'd all be off on those days. If worse comes to worse and we end up going on a busy Saturday, we'll have no problem throwing extra money for Fright Lane (especially after dealing with yesterday's crowds).
  14. A bit early but I thought I might as well ask. How are crowds on Sundays during Halloween Haunt compared to Saturdays? I've gone to Haunt the past few years on Saturdays and the park was typically crowded. My friends and I are planning to visit the park again in a few months since our visit yesterday wasn't the greatest due to the fact Joyfest fell on the same day, so we'd like to make up for it.
  15. Considering BGW has one, I doubt it's in the question.
  16. then y did u come to the park??? I'm at a loss for words right now...
  17. The whole park in general, perhaps? Quality of rides, shows, food and atmosphere. Don't get me wrong I love roller coasters as much as anyone else here but if I'm taking a trip to some parks for the first time I'm usually focused on the park experience than the roller coasters. This is BGW we're talking about, one of the the best theme parks in the U.S. So it's honestly no surprise to hear another first timer how much this park exceeded their expectations.
  18. ^Or maybe he was more blown away by BGW's overall experience than over one roller coaster...
  19. Especially with Anaconda right next to it, having the same colors.
  20. Trailblazer at Hersheypark, if you're tall enough you can touch the wooden beams at the end of the ride. Almost every ride I took on it, at least one or two people would reach up and slap them. Good thing it's not a fast ride!
  21. Saw this video on Facebook last night. http://aplus.com/a/man-with-selfie-stick-captures-pickpocketed
