  1. Aside from the actual name of the ride and sign at the entrance, I doubt there will be much theming, if any at all. Like their other coasters, I would assume they gear more towards building a quality coaster rather than extensive theming.
  2. I couldn't agree more. You don't see everyone scrambling to book their trips to Carowinds to ride the cookie-cutter that is I232...but I305 is one of those coasters that most enthusiasts must ride at some point, and will go out of their way to do so. Regarding Dragster, even so, a ride like that would still put any US park on the map and get people talking like I305 has.
  3. Not true at all. Volcano, Dominator, Flight of Fear, Anaconda, Magnum, Mantis, Raptor, Wicked Twister, Gemini, Maverick, etc. are all, at least arguably, intense and great coasters at their respective parks, and don't even come close to feeling like kiddie rides because there are bigger coasters across the parks.
  4. New blog entry regarding Ocean Motion's new location: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/2011/4/21/Ocean_Motion_Commotion.cfm
  5. I disagree. Sure they only built those few rides themed to Marvel characters, but that doesn't mean they "did very little" with it. I think they did a great job with that concept, and in my opinion it was the best section of either park before Harry Potter came along. It's more than just those couple rides, the entire section is themed to superheroes. The atmosphere is great, they have themed food places, music, interactions with the characters themselves, etc. Tons of small touches that they did very well with. How well they did with a certain concept shouldn't be judged solely on rides. If that's the case, then they must have not done so well with the HP section too, considering they only built, what, one new major ride? Technically Dragons and Hippogriff were recycled. Disney is probably going to grasp a similar concept I would guess and build probably about the same amount of rides. I don't expect them to turn into Six Flags all of a sudden and start plopping down coasters left and right themed to random super heroes.
  6. ^^ Even so, Nitro was the last B&M Mega coaster with a lift hill support structure configured that way. I guess it's possible they could use that design again, but there have been 7 megas since Nitro, and none have used that configuration.
  7. Ha, I had the same problem until I tried Noob. He works pretty well against Shao Kahn also...you can spam the move where you send the shadow guy towards him. That sucks about PSN, it has been working for me, I was playing Socom 4 a lot yesterday.
  8. From their Facebook for people who live near Pittsburgh:
  9. I've definitely been playing the crap out of MK. I'm done with the story and am at 100 on the challenge tower. I knew it was going to be a difficult game, but damn, some of these challenges are impossible! Good thing you can skip and come back later. I really need to work on combos though, I suck at those. As for Socom, I haven't even played it yet. Perhaps tomorrow.
  10. Agreed. MK is such an awesome game. Anyone who has enjoyed playing MK before or is even remotely an MK fan should definitely pick this up. This game is a winner! I also bought Socom 4 last night. I've yet to play it (I have played the beta though), but I'm sure it will be awesome as well. I just hope they fixed everything people were complaining about, like the camera and such.
  11. I'll be buying it for Xbox 360 tonight at midnight.
  12. I am! I'll be at Consol Energy Center for the Pens game Fri night.
  13. 49er's, Super Bowl?? They are referring to the city/stadium possibly hosting a Super Bowl in the future. That has nothing to do with the 49ers' success, or lack thereof.
  14. I don't think it was excessive force at all. He refused to listen, so he paid the price. Hell, if I just tasered someone and they didn't even flinch, you bet your ass I'd try everything in my power to get them subdued. There's no telling what they could do to me or my fellow officers.
  15. A new game for Kinect was recently announced called PowerUp Heroes. Looks interesting. I was just talking to my buddy the other day about how awesome it would be if a Dragonball Z game ever came out for Kinect. I think this is as close as it's going to get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9njBEYYjfYM
  16. Me too! I haven't pre-ordered it, but I'll definitely be picking it up. Also, the new "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" web series debuted today! Here's the first episode, and check back every week for a new episode.
  17. That's a tough decision. As others have said, it's up to your preference, but both are great choices. Waldameer shouldn't be underestimated either, it's not the biggest park, but it still has a decent selection of rides besides Ravine Flyer II. Even so, Waldameer still has it's limits and one definite downside is that you will probably be able to do everything you want to do in a small amount of time, and perhaps get bored after a while. That's less likely to happen with a park like KI. As I said, you'd be happy at either, but if you're leaning towards Waldameer then I'd say go for it. RFII is a great, world-class coaster that defeinitely deserves it's ranking as one of the best in the world.
  18. I only have two, Dominator at Geauga Lake during it's last season and Mean Streak at Cedar Point.
  19. 1. Yes, those will be the lightest ("lightest" used loosely) days at that time, as long as there are no events. 2. I would say so. It's extremely convenient. 3. Maverick, TTD, and Millennium Force. Try to hit all three as quick as soon as possible, because you never know with break-downs, crowds, etc.. 4. Besides the usual MF, TTD, and Maverick, there are a few...Raptor, Mantis, MaXair, Skyhawk, Gemini, Magnum, Wicked Twister. Just walk around and anything else that looks like fun, ride it! 5. The sports grille by Raptor is decent. Or you could always go back to the Breakers and eat at TGI Fridays (doesn't matter if you are staying there or not).
  20. Today I came across someone with the last name "Polio." I wonder if he is related to Johnny Smallpox?
  21. The phrase "all things considered" was also implied.
  22. I can't believe no one asked about the "possible" capacity issues that Green Lantern will experience (and how they plan to deal with that). It crossed my mind, and then I forgot about it. Deja Vu doesn't have the best capacity and it seems to be getting along just fine. Besides, SFMM has plenty of other rides and coasters to take in crowds.
  23. It's pretty generic and not that good. Save your money.
  24. Ha, I do have many great parks/rides close to me (CP, Kennywood, Darien Lake, Waldameer, etc.) but SFMM is definitely one-of-a-kind. Hershey is another park I haven't been to in a couple years and need to get back to. If not this summer then definitely in 2012 when their new ride is built.
  25. Agreed. When I was at SFMM in 2006 I ended up waiting 2 hours for a ride on X, when the wait should have been no longer than 15-30 minutes. While I haven't been to SFMM since, from reading numerous trip reports it definitely sounds like those days are long behind them and things have greatly improved. Regarding the TR, it's a shame you didn't enjoy the park. I thought it was one of the best (if not THE best) parks I have visited. 5 years has been way too long and I am DYING to go back.
