  1. I think someone needs to be slammed into this broken record player so it will stop.
  2. Does anyone know when VA schools generally go back?
  3. This! Definitely key in reducing the effect. The only instance I'd be careful with is if someone has some previous condition, like heart disease. My dad does and I am cautious on what he rides and how frequent. His heart is circulating blood at a diminished capacity as it is, let alone having the blood forced out of it due to forces. I have also taught him how to effectively utilize the 'tighten stomach' technique to help minimize the amount of blood rushing away from his head and chest when we're on more forceful rides.
  4. I was there last year around this time and everything was a walk-on...I don't think you should have many problems at all, even for the front.
  5. I think their new system is great, and it doesn't make an option like going to a park such as Kings Island on a Saturday completely absurd and out of the question anymore. I was planning on making another park trip coming up here soon, and will probably choose KI now because of this.
  6. The past few years it ran great early on, but this year not so much. I'm talking the first few weeks Cedar Point is open, not late June. I would hope all of the early-season bugs are worked out by then. Coasternut, great point though. Could have something to do with the moisture.
  7. Dragster was having a lot of problems early on also. Sounds like this year has just been an off year for it.
  8. Sure, comparing the cost of additions between Six Flags/Cedar Fair and Disney/Universal seems like money is no object for the latter two, but you have to put into perspective how much revenue each brand generates. I'd be willing to bet that, relative to their revenue, Disney and Universal definitely prioritize ROI extremely highly. Just because attractions like Mummy were $40 million, doesn't mean they don't. Dollywood's three major coasters, TT, MM, and Thunderhead are all cheaper alternatives that are just as good as versions from larger companies like Intamin and B&M. I'm sure they could have built a B&M instead of TT, and an Intamin similar to Maverick or Fahrenheit instead of MM if money was no object, but chose not to because they wanted to maximize the total value received from that purchase. You even mentioning Dollywood proves my point, in that they have "high quality attractions" but spent much less. I see your point about SOB, and I do agree that ROI will be priority number one, just that it's probably much more prevalent in mostly every major decision at a theme/amusement park...no matter how much $$$ they are sitting on.
  9. Sorry if I sounded like an ass, as I didn't intend to, I was simply trying to enlighten. The whole 'expanding out into the parking lot' has definitely been discussed into the ground before. It's definitely a good idea if done right, I was never saying it wasn't or trying to shoot down your idea (it could definitely add a nice touch to the Ocean Motion area even more), just that they would need to find some other option for parking other than a parking garage because the lot fills close to capacity (if not to capacity) on crowded days, and trimming it down for a large ride doesn't seem like it would be sensible.
  10. Agreed, I've been thinking the same!
  11. Sure, you asked if they owned that land (still don't know what "land" you mean, considering there are houses, farms, an airport, marinas, etc. all around) so a parking garage could be built on it. I replied implying that even if they did a parking garage wouldn't get built, let alone a floating one. If they were really that practical are for amusement parks, we'd already see tons of them around the country at Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks.
  12. ^ As stated a few pages ago, don't get your hopes up for a garage for the simple fact that it would take HOURS for cars to clear after park closing.
  13. As opposed to what? Doesn't every decision at every park heavily revolve around money?
  14. It depends on the park I'm at also. If I'm at, say Universal, then I definitely want to take in the atmosphere a bit more than riding, but if I'm at a park like Cedar Point, Kings Island, etc. I'll try to fit in as many rides as I can.
  15. According to the info on their site, there will be a limited amount sold every day, so you are correct.
  16. ^^ The trims are magnetic fins, and therefore can't be "turned up" or "turned down." Placement can be adjusted, but that's it. They are going to "bite" the same now as they did when it opened, if placement is untouched. Also, I have ridden Millennium Force numerous times, including in 2000 and 2011. Both rides were exactly the same as far as speed was concerened, it was not "significantly slower" in 2000. Maybe during the first couple test runs, but not when I rode it. If it was slower, it was no more than a few MPH...nothing noticeable.
  17. Cedar Point is a "resort destination" where a lot of people plan their trips weeks and months in advance, so they are going to be there no matter what the weather is.
  18. For one year? Didn't Six Flags build two the year after Paramount built Stealth?
  19. El Toro is amazing enough as it is, but as you said, CP would take it up a notch and make it the tallest, fastest, steepest, etc. version...which would totally kick A$$. Something like that would definitely give their collection the quality boost it needs. I don't necessairly think they would have to go for a record breaker with a new woodie. Maverick is a good example of them Building a smaller non significant record breaking ride that focused more on an unique experience with a great layout in an imersive atmosphere and It it turned out to be one of best coasters in the park (and most popular). If they go with a pre fab intamin on a boardwalk settng Id expect to see more Balder than T-Express, otherwise with a GCI or Gravity group I would rather see them focus on a great layout in an awesome themed atmosphere (like Maverick) instead of trying to plus a normal Coaster into some kind of record breaker just for the sake of breaking a record. Of course they don't have to do anything. I just don't see them deciding to build an Intamin pre-fab, but only making it 118 feet tall. Maverick is great and all, but Cedar Point is world renown to the general public as having the biggest and baddest coasters/rides anywhere, and it's been nearly 9 years since any coaster above 105' was built. Not saying a GCI or GG with a great layout, similar to RFII, wouldn't be a good option, just that I wouldn't put it past them to build a 190'+ Intamin (which would completely and utterly blow away any GCI or GG, in my opinion).
  20. El Toro is amazing enough as it is, but as you said, CP would take it up a notch and make it the tallest, fastest, steepest, etc. version...which would totally kick ass. Something like that would definitely give their collection the quality boost it needs.
  21. Forget the garage, that sea of concrete is the real star of the show! But really, sure he isn't one of those people that owns 12 Enzos, 28 Veyrons, and 32 McLarens, but that collection is still impressive in my book! If it were up to me, though, I would have kept the 93 Viper stock.
  22. That's such an awesome story! Great job!
  23. I'd say it's definitely worth it, braztaz. The convenience is really nice! If you want to go back and get something to eat, relax in some A/C for a bit, watch a little TV, then head back out to the park, you have that option.
