  1. You're 100% right... I hope you've learned your lesson. lol
  2. I normally think enthusiasts read way too far into things but I've got to admit... that's a very intriguing find.
  3. Good for you... I will say though that Revolution has RIDICULOUSLY small restraints so you did unknowingly pick a ride that nobody fits in. I'm 6,3 and a little under 170 pounds... so I might blow away in a swift wind and I can't even fit on the middle seats.
  4. ^^ lol we made sure we missed Train A. We just acted like we were trying to line up with someone and asked if anyone wanted to go ahead of us, we used to do that last year with train C. The train we rode was running great. ^ I kind of wish the megaphone was permanent honestly. It's fun. And in that case Matt's doing a great job.
  5. Google Maps and Kayak if we're planning on staying somewhere for a few days. If we're just doing what we usually do and making a long drive to go to a park on a Saturday where we need to leave from work Friday, get a hotel along the way and finish driving on Saturday morning then I just get a hotel whenever I feel like stopping and completely wing it.
  6. boldikus I can always count on you for a Skyway photo. You have your priorities straight. Anyway, we went to the park yesterday for our second visit of the season but it felt like the first as last time we visited Nitro and El Toro valleyed / stalled and we never got to ride them and Kingda Ka / Zumanjaro were closed all day too. There's not much to report really... we spent the entire day and had a great time, I didn't really notice any major differences from last year. Just a few quick things to point out. - Stubbs, the lion cub at Camp Aventura is still ridiculously cute (and that's not a word I throw around much in public, lol). Everyone needs to go see Stubbs. - Kingda Ka now has someone with a megaphone standing near the launch track. I guess they're making sure nobody has any loose articles and everyone keeps their hands down and head back. The guy yesterday was awesome. At one point he announced.. "We're waiting on Zumanjaro, which is really stupid but whatever so I'm gonna sing you a song"... and then broke into a song about how Kingda Ka is his favorite rocket ship (or something) while waiting for Zumanjaro. I wish I knew the guys name... he was awesome and really funny. - Zumanjaro broke down a ton yesterday which is always great news since Kingda Ka's line actually moved at a decent speed. It's been awhile since we've ridden Kingda Ka but I'll never get over how awesome it is in the front row. - Without even thinking about it I wore a Fury 325 shirt to the park yesterday. I never buy coaster shirts as most of them look ridiculous and I try to keep my coaster nerdiness to a minimum but it's an understated shirt so I bought it and wore it because it's warm. While we were in line for El Toro one of the security guys (I didn't get his name) noticed and was asking about Fury and how long I waited for it because he had heard it was a great ride. I just said "it wasn't too bad" and then he goes... "well down there they know how to roll trains so it wouldn't be. Here we're terrible at that". I thought that was really funny. We didn't even know how to respond so we just laughed. - I've read a lot of reports that El Toro is a little rougher than normal this year. If there's one thing I've learned it's to never listen to enthusiasts about anything ever. Good words to live by because El Toro was as smooth and awesome as ever. Maybe it's not on a wheel seat, but we always sit one row from the back because it's the best seat on the train. - Great job by Six Flags to run both sides of the Skyway - We love Batman more and more every time we ride it. I love Kingda Ka, Nitro and Bizarro but after El Toro I think Batman is the best ride in the park. It's just such a forceful and awesome ride... I'll never get tired of it. - El Diablo actually looks really nice where it is. == Ride Count because while I hide my coaster nerdiness in person when I'm online I go all out== El Toro x3 Skyway x2 Kingda Ka x1 Parachutes x1 Bizarro x1 Safari x1 Sky Screamer x1 Nitro x1 Batman x1 If we had more time we would have probably rode Zumanjaro, Superman and Skull Mountain but I don't consider any of those "must rides". Overall we had a great time! We're so lucky to have a coaster lineup like this just a few hours away.
  7. I think so, I've never come across a Pharaoh's Fury version though. EDIT: After some quick searching, it looks like the same ride with a different theme... so you're 100% correct.
  8. That ride cycle looks great to me... no need to shorten a thing. lol
  9. The Sea Dragon rides are my favorite by far... they tend to go up higher than most and deliver floater air in the back rows. They don't all do this (The Knott's and Santa Monica Pier ones don't seem to swing as high) but for the most part they're much better than the Huss ships. My favorite swinging ship ride overall is the Rehoboth Beach Sea Dragon which looks enormous thanks to it's location. It swings within a few feet of a 2 story house on one side and swings over a huge kids play structure on the other side. It also delivers some nice airtime in the back rows. That's not a visual trick... it's MAYBE 3 feet from the house.
  10. I actually thought long and hard about that and... no. No they don't. At least not in my opinion.
  11. They test it a lot with all the dummies in the front when it's cold so I'm sure they were just trying to make sure it didn't valley. I know I always say this but Great Adventure's weather policy is something to marvel at. It seems like besides Kingda Ka the policy is just "ignore the weather, hit the dispatch button and then hope it doesn't valley... after all there's only one way to find out". I don't think there are many parks in the U.S. that would have let people ride the coaster if they were so unsure about it's ability to make it around the track that they made everyone sit in the front. Other than a few launch coasters that are designed to roll back (I've seen Dragster and Volcano do it early in the day) I've never seen this. If they keep this YOLO mindset about weather during Holiday in the Park then Holiday in the Park is guaranteed to be amazing.
  12. Oh for f**k's sake... Fury stopped for 5 minutes on the transfer track, it re-started, someone tweeted WSOC that they were running empty trains and they sent a F**king helicopter.
  13. That was me, and Mack is great... but they literally can't afford to screw this up or have any delays because their attendance is down the tubes. Mack (which is a great company) has never built a hyper before and B&M has made a ton of them and has a reputation for reliability and getting rides open on time. Combine that with the fact that they have a great relationship with them already and I think it's a given that this will be a B&M. If I were Sea World I'd be ridiculously conservative with this one... and when I think ridiculously conservative I think B&M. There's no risk factor. You know they'll deliver a ride that will appeal to the masses, will open on time and will be incredibly reliable. I'm not knocking Mack, I'm just saying B&M has more experience with this coaster type and the park seems to have a great relationship with them already so this seems pretty straightforward. Personally I think this thread is just a case of enthusiasts trying to convince themselves that this won't be a forceless B&M hyper even though we pretty much know it will be... but that's okay because I'm sure it will be a ton of fun. Then again there's always the chance they'll impress us like they did with Fury but if I had to guess I'd predict a more standard layout with large floater hills throughout the course. That's strictly a guess though and like I said, I'd still be thrilled with that.
  14. A Mack would be great but they need a B&M. Sea World needs something that's guaranteed to open on time and be extremely reliable. They tried a prototype ride last year in Tampa and when they really needed a ride to bring people into the park and stop the bleeding they got a ride that missed the entire summer season. They need to play it safe with a manufacturer that's already built a ton of hypers and that they already have a great relationship with. With attendance dropping like it is I don't think it's smart to ask a manufacturer to build something they've never built before even though I'm sure Mack is fully capable of building a high quality hyper. They need to play it safe... with B&M you know the ride will have mass appeal, you know it will be reliable and you know it's going to open in time for peak season.
  15. This is exactly what the park needs. They probably don't have the money to go at Disney and Universal in the highly themed, interactive ride space right now and they don't have the IP's anyway. For a fraction of the money they can build something like this which will be easily visible from the highway and advertising "The Tallest and Fastest Coaster in Orlando... 200 feet tall, 70+ MPH" will probably get them a lot of attention. I love this idea and I'll absolutely be making a trip to ride it when it opens.
  16. I don't generally agree with the enthusiast consensus on wingriders. Personally I really love them so if this ride is getting positive reviews from people that aren't big fans of the other wingriders that makes me even more excited to ride it.
  17. I don't expect them to paint it and if they don't it's really not a big deal. I doubt anyone will notice it. Personally I'm just glad they fixed it so quickly.
  18. Those are some great old pictures of SFNE... I think this park was at it's best after they built Batman and before they started removing rides like Colossus and the Log Flume (I think there was a 2-3 year period in there). Back then they just had a ton of things to offer and they had a great atmosphere that set them apart from other Six Flags parks.
  19. Amazingly they probably got this one right. The only other thing they could have really picked would be SuperFlip (also at Funland) but the SeaDragon is kind of a Rehoboth Beach landmark.
  20. I normally see articles/lists like this and just laugh them off and ignore them but this one is so hilariously bad that I had to share it here so everyone else could be as entertained as we were. Great American Summer: Best Thrill Ride in Every State (PHOTOS) Just a few notes... -Larson clearly paid them to write this. -Get ready to feel the terror of the thrilling Sky Ride at the Nebraska State Fair -Sorry SkyJump Las Vegas and your stupid 855 foot drop... El Loco is apparently the most thrilling ride in Nevada. They count zip lines so they clearly could have counted this. - New Jersey is a tough one... this could have gone to El Toro, Kingda Ka (the world's tallest coaster as we all know), Zumanjaro (the worlds tallest drop tower as we all know) or tons of other awesome rides. Wait until you see what they picked... I won't spoil this for you. It's too good. - Ohio, Pennsylvania and Connecticut are all ridiculous - Sorry Intimidator and Afterburn but the YoYo swing ride at Family Kingdom is apparently the "best thrill ride" in South Carolina. - Bumper Boats are a thrill ride now.
  21. For your own benefit I really wish you'd relax a little and stop being defensive. Learn to laugh at parks when they do stupid things and stop taking things so seriously and I think you'd enjoy this hobby a lot more. Doings things like distracting ride ops because you don't think they're sending trains out fast enough and name calling on a message board (2 things you've done just in the past week) doesn't fall in line with the entire point of the hobby. Seriously lighten up, you'll have way more fun.
  22. Lol they're trying to fix a ride that never needed fixing until they screwed it up. It was an amazing ride when they first got it. You left that part out. And don't you think you're taking things just a bit too seriously? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And my opinion (and basically everyone else's opinion also) is that this Goliath train fiasco that's now been going on for 4 years now is an unbelievable clusterf**k that's completely unnecessary.
