  1. Both rides are crap but given the choice I'd take Scream Machine. I actually found it less painful.
  2. Yeah, this ride generates a ton of whining for it's second half and it's "rough" cobra roll but I love everything about the ride. The end is great thanks to the theming and the cobra roll is probably the best part of the ride.
  3. Oh awesome it's this conversation again...
  4. I'd love for it to actually wind up being decent. Right now everything in the park pretty much sucks except for Best of the West and Panda Express. Even compared to other Six Flags parks the food at Great Adventure is lacking.
  5. Is it train C again? Or are you saying "A train" as in Train A". If so then never mind my dumb question...
  6. I love Crab Fries but I think the best fries at Cedar Point are the Boardwalk Fries. It's kind of funny because the franchise is originally from Ocean City, Maryland where I consider them a crappy knockoff of Thrashers French Fries (a boardwalk staple in Ocean City and Rehoboth Beach) but when Thrashers isn't right across the boardwalk and they stand on their own they're pretty good fries. I just wish they offered vinegar, bay seasoning and other spices like the Kings Island version does. They're pretty lame when you have to eat them plain.
  7. Great report! I totally agree with everything you said about Fury, the ride is awesome and that initial run out to the turnaround is relentless. I'm curious to know what your thoughts were on Afterburn... I think it's one of the best inverts around and as soon as I saw this comment I figured the ride would be right up your alley.
  8. Viper is quite literally (with no exaggeration AT ALL) the worst ride I've ever ridden in my entire life. Period. I've never had the "pleasure" of riding Goudurix though.
  9. I too love Viper, and IMO the way they maintain the ride, it will be around for at least another decade. Back seat over that first drop is one of my favorite drops on any coaster. It really whips you over the top, then spins you tight left. You just don't see rides have a first drop like Viper anymore. And while it's not as smooth as B&M's (which is how I prefer it, actually) it really is a very good ride considering all the unique elements it has, especially for how old it is. Why would you rather ride something that isn't as smooth as other available rides? That doesn't really make any sense, unless you are a chiropractor and want more buisness. I sometimes like coasters that throw you around a little bit as long as it's not excessive or painful. It's a fine line to walk but Viper falls into that category for me. Vortex is awful though. That ride needs to die.
  10. I love Dorney but it's not on the same level as Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Carowinds or Knott's. I still hate putting it on the bottom of any list though because despite the mediocre coaster collection (especially since the removal of Laser which was the best coaster in their lineup), it's a very nice park with a lot of fun rides and the place is VERY well run.
  11. I'd rather die... I love some of their passholder ERT sessions but I'll be missing that one.
  12. My concern is that Bat (low capacity), Dragon Fire, Fly (horrible capacity), Ghoster Coaster (yeah, we'll probably ride this lol), Silver Streak (horrible capacity), Thunder Run (I'm assuming this has horrible capacity) and Wonder Mountain Guardian which I would expect to have a long wait are all not on Fastlane and all have low capacity. That's why I'm considering taking 2 days for this park but I'd rather do it in one if possible.
  13. For the record I think GASM should have been removed, just not for Green Lantern.
  14. So we're considering a trip to this park around Memorial Day weekend and we're curious if this park is do-able in one day (assuming we'll ride all adult coasters). We'll get Platinum Flash Passes but I've noticed that they have a ton of low capacity coasters not on Fastlane and I know the park gets very crowded. Thanks in advance.
  15. Don't Skull Mountain, Mine Train and Dark Knight fall into this category? I agree with you for the most part... Rolling Thunder wasn't awful but it didn't do much of anything and Scream Machine was a horrible ride. That being said they did manage to do the impossible with that one and find a coaster so awful that it made Scream Machine look great by comparison. I have no complaints about either ride being removed but I'd argue that Green Lantern is worse than Scream Machine ever dreamed of being.
  16. I love Cedar Fair, while they lack in the theming and food departments I think very highly of their parks as unlike Six Flags I feel like they put a lot of effort into keeping their parks as nice and neat as possible. Rides usually look like they were painted within the last few years, operations are generally very good and they all have a very nice atmosphere. I'm obviously only ranking the ones I've been to and I'll note the year of my last visit as I think that's important. 1) Cedar Point (2014) This is obviously the crown jewel of the chain. The natural location gives it an unfair advantage over anyone, the atmosphere here is great (in part thanks to that location) and even though I've ridden about 250 coasters I actually have 5 of theirs in my top 20. 2) Kings Dominion (2014) #2, #3 and #4 are so close that they're almost interchangeable. Kings Island and Carowinds both have better coaster collections but Kings Dominion is the nicest of the three parks and they have the best non-coaster collection also. I305, Volcano, Flight of Fear and Dominator are all great rides (Dominator is a criminally underrated coaster and it unfairly gets grouped in with the other forceless floorless rides) but like I said it's not all about coasters here. The entry plaza is much nicer than the similar version at Kings Island, they have an awesome drop tower, great flyers and I love the area back by the flume. Believe it or not these parks are all so close that the things that gave this one the edge was the better front gate and the area around Shenandoah Lumber Company (which is one of my favorite flumes). 3) Kings Island (2014) This park isn't quite as nice as Kings Dominion but they actually have a much better coaster collection. Beast at night is the best ride I ever had on any coaster, Diamondback, Bat and Banshee are great and I'll ALWAYS be a sucker for Adventure Express... always. lol 4) Carowinds (2015) I almost put this at #3 and even #2... like I said it's really close. Fury325 is in my opinion the best coaster in the chain outside of Cedar Point (I put both Millennium and Maverick ahead of it) and that ride brings this park to the next level. The only reason I put this behind Kings Island and Kings Dominion was the fact that besides the coasters there isn't a ton to do here besides Boo Blasters, the Drop Tower which isn't nearly as good as the ones at KI or KD and Windseeker. The entrance area is much nicer at the other parks as well... they definitely have more atmosphere. I love Carowinds though. 5) Knott's (2013) This park is very small and while their coaster collection isn't even close to being on the same level as the parks I've mentioned so far they do have a fun invert, an awesome shuttle loop and a very fun rocket coaster. The thing that gives this park the edge over Dorney is Ghost Town and the unique rides like the stagecoaches, the flume and Calico Mine. 6) Dorney (2014) This park is obviously last but that doesn't mean I don't like it. I really enjoy this park and while they don't have any stand-out coasters I like Talon, Posessed, Hydra and Steel Force quite a bit. The park is very well maintained but very generic and while I like the park any time 2 of the 3 best rides in the park are a log flume and a first generation drop ride the park isn't likely to stand up to great parks like Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Carowinds and Knotts.
  17. We hated Green Lantern but it's worth a ride as it's unique. When we visited Apocalypse was one of the best rides in the park but I've heard it's gotten tough. Viper is not rough at all and I highly recommend it, we really enjoyed it. Also, don't listen to anyone telling you to skip Ninja. Ninja is great and it has a unique layout which is nice to see in a Six Flags Park. Personally I'd suggest getting the platinum Flash Pass, adding X2 and not skipping anything. When we did this we were easily able to ride all of the coasters on a day when the park closed at 8 with time for a double ride on Jet Stream and Lex Luthor, a ride on Sky Tower and more re-rides on our favorite non-clone rides... Apocalypse, Ninja and Tatsu. Plus then you even have time to ride Batman, because clone or not it's one of the best rides in the park.
  18. Tempesto looks like a ton of fun. We'll absolutely be going down there to ride it this summer.
  19. Done... lol From Great Adventure Online's Facebook page
  20. This... SO this. You can get a decent hotel for a very low price in the Sandusky, Milan area and with a Platinum Pass you get Early Entry to Cedar Point anyway. Breakers would be cool but if you're on a budget then this is a great way to save a few hundred bucks.
  21. ^^That sounds like a great trip, and it's not too rushed which is nice (and totally unlike how we usually travel). Have fun!
